this is definitely the best book in this series. i am not a fan of superhero stories, so i have no idea how i have made it to the end of this trilogy, but i am so happy this ends the way it does.

the significant difference between this last installment and its predecessors is the character development. in the first two books, everything is black/white, good/evil, hero/villain, friend/foe, etc. but this book finally gives the characters some wiggle room to venture into that grey area in between. ...more

Supernova is a decent ending to the newest series from Marissa Meyer. I enjoyed the journey with all the characters and her interesting spin on the super hero genre.

I did not enjoy it quite as much as The Lunar Chronicles, but I would not take that to heart to much. It was a very tough task to follow up after that series and I think she did just about as good as she possibly could. I am sure that fans of that series will also find a lot to like here.

I'm reading this book while in the hospital getting treatment for pneumonia. The cough is keeping me up so I might as well enjoy the actions and adventures of Nova and her villains. I'm liking this book a lot more. I like how quick the villains think. They speak so little and let silence stretches on but they all come to the same conclusion that time is running out and they need to act fast. I like their teamwork, how different they are but they work well together. Honey's humor is always a plus I'm reading this book while in the hospital getting treatment for pneumonia. The cough is keeping me up so I might as well enjoy the actions and adventures of Nova and her villains. I'm liking this book a lot more. I like how quick the villains think. They speak so little and let silence stretches on but they all come to the same conclusion that time is running out and they need to act fast. I like their teamwork, how different they are but they work well together. Honey's humor is always a plus even if it brings scowls out of Nova. I love the butterflies - Danna and how she knows who the spy is but couldn't get her triumphant moment but still swarm over with her multiple numbers of butterflies. I like Adrian's puzzle solving of Nightmare and his conclusion. I like Oscar's grand guestures for professing his love no matter how hopeless it seems. He sure goes above and beyond. I enjoy Nova and the adrenaline rush surrounding her double life and fear of lies unraveling.

 This book is told in the third person point of view following Nova. Nova has just completed her mission from book 2, but not everything goes according to plans and so she's back at headquarters doing her spy job as a Renegade. No sooner then she received a threatening message at her home blackmailing for her identity to turning in Ace's helmet. When Nova's secret of being a spy revealed, she found herself going to prison where her uncle and top villains Ace's has been. The alternating view is Adrian, who could draw anything into reality, is living a secret double life of his own. Adrian is the adopted son of the famous Renegades dads. His desperation to find Nightmare is ever increasing. At first he wanted to find her to learn about his mom's death but now he wanted to find her to kill her because he believed she meant to kill his half brother Max. The adventures moved on to rescuing Ace at his execution.

 Supernova is very well written and a fast paced read. I loved the attack on the Renegades with the bees and the rescue of Ace. Pretty cool scene. I like Queen Bee's power over all of the stingers. They sure can do some damages. Phobia is scary, a definite character for the villains. I like his mystery. I love the battle with Ace the Anarchist. The love story is mostly innocent with few kisses the entire series so it's readable for any readers middle grade and young adults. Overall, I enjoyed the series and recommend everyone to read Renegade series.

I read Renegades because I loved TLC and a superhero story sounded like something I would love. After finishing the first book which I thought was a standalone, I was surprised to know it has a sequel and since book 1 was okay, I said I can continue the duology, no problem! Then the duology became a trilogy and that is one of my bookish pet peeves! This book fell so flat for me.

I was so excited for this book and I really expected more from it. This book had an insane amount of hype and wasn't the "epic conclusion" that it was trying so hard to be. *Sigh*. This is what I get for my hardcore fangirling.

Imagine the renegades books adapted into films?? Yes. A blockbuster, action packed superhero film would be an awesome film. Definitely would watch.

Renegades synopsis: Galton city is invested with both good and evil. We have our renegades who are a council of superheroes fighting evil in their city, protecting the city. Then we have our anarchists, the villians that cause conflict an ”one can not be afraid when they have nothing to lose.”

Nova artino is an anarchist and dispises the renegades, since they weren't there to protect her family when they died. She joins the renegades as undercover spy, to take them down from the inside.

I thoroughly enjoyed the conclusion to the renegades trilogy. It ended smoothly and satisfyingly. The plot went in a direction I didn't expect which was amusing to read about. The twists and turns were unexpecting and I loved the thrill of it. I enjoyed the action and build-up towards the ending of the book, the battle/fight scene was delightful and captivating. I was never a huge fan of Nova and Adrian's relationship, I like them both very much as individuals more than them together, but in this book, I've really grown attached to their relationship.

Wish we got more content from the side characters; Ruby, Donna, Oscar, Magpie and Max. Because after the ending of the book I really wanted to know about what they were up to or how they were doing. Magpie has been small but a valid character since book 1 and she was only mentioned once and that was when she was injured during a fight and then you never read about her or got any information regarding her character. Wanted to see some sort of relationship between Nova and Donna since of their estranged friendship, never got a clear understanding of them two as friends, only that Donna doesn't trust her because of what happened in book 2. Oscar and Ruby established a relationship, but it was just thrown into the storyline and wasn't necessary and didn't add anything to the plot.
All-around sad to say goodbye to these characters and story, but hoping we get some more content after that epilogue?!?!
I need to pick up her lunar chronicles series soon! ...more

I think this is my first two star review. I usually only review books that I love as authors have enough bad reviews to deal with and I don't want to add more. And this isn't a bad review...not really. It's a wish that the series had a stronger, more engaging, satisfying ending. And it also may be due to the fact that I'm a writer and a teacher of writing - I saw SO MUCH potential here - and the possibility of huge emotional scenes that were set up perfectly and just didn't occur. Perhaps Meyer I think this is my first two star review. I usually only review books that I love as authors have enough bad reviews to deal with and I don't want to add more. And this isn't a bad review...not really. It's a wish that the series had a stronger, more engaging, satisfying ending. And it also may be due to the fact that I'm a writer and a teacher of writing - I saw SO MUCH potential here - and the possibility of huge emotional scenes that were set up perfectly and just didn't occur. Perhaps Meyer ran out of pages - although a good editor could have helped with that (see my comments in the spoiler).

The series is wonderful because of the characters and world. Meyer does a great job of making the readers love both main protagonists and hope they both win, which, considering they are archenemies is a hard thing to pull it off. So kudos to her for doing that! Five stars for the characters! Five stars for the richly detailed world.

The rest I'm going to hide as a spoiler. (view spoiler)[A few things that failed for me: One - Nova as Nightmare - the clues were all there. She did a ton of stupid things to tip them off. It was obvious, yet two Council members and Adrian failed to put them together. And when it finally was revealed...there's a weak attempt to make it appear Narcissa is Nightmare. Come on! Adrian and his Dads are supposedly intelligent people! Adrian might be in denial, but, come on! He fell asleep while kissing her!! I lost a ton of respect for the Renegades at that point. And then she's released from prison? What was the point of putting her in there? What is the author trying to show? That the place is horrible and these people shouldn't be there - okay, but that could be done in a couple paragraphs. Why go to all the trouble of having her arrested only to release her and do the entire, "She's a spy" thing again. Better to skip all that - and spend the pages on other, more engaging emotional scenes that weren't there.

What scenes? I'm glad you asked ;) Adrian as the Sentinel - he spends two books hiding who he is and then when it's revealed it's a non issue. Even Nova is like, "whatever." There's no conversation with his Dads, no realization that the Council might be getting a bit too dictatorial. Wouldn't it been cool if Nova and Adrian revealed their alter egos at the same time to each other? I know it was done so well in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but with the set up of these books, it could have been done in Meyer's own way. Another missing scene Adrian dealing with the fact he created Phobia!! Yes, he struggles with it a bit and then sacrifices his superpowers, but that's HUGE! The readers needed to see him grappling with that one since Phobia killed his mother - in fact Adrian killed her because of his fears - yes, he was just a young boy, but still! And the reveal about Ace killing Nova's family. Would like to see her dealing with that a little longer and coming to the realization that she'd been blaming the Renegades all these years. Another scene: Ruby and Oscar - I realize they are minor characters, but still the readers have read about Oscar mooning over Ruby and then at the end they're holding hands - needed more there. And then there needs to be more about how the world will deal with everyone having superpowers. I admit - I didn't see that coming - I thought it would go the other way - no one had powers. There's mention that things will be different, but nothing else. Three books worth of how society is unbalanced and the people are too passive because they believe the Renegades will save them. I'd would have loved to see at least of hint of how society is now dealing with this.

And lastly - that epilogue! I didn't see that one either - that Magpie is Evie, Nova's baby sister that supposedly died. Does this mean there will be book 4? Why reveal that when nothing is going to happen. That could have come sooner - would have been nice to see Nova and Evie reunited. And it makes it appear that after all that fighting, deaths, Agent N, etc... nothing really has changed. (hide spoiler)]

Like I said there was SO MUCH POTENTIAL to make this book a knock-your-socks-off whooper of a conclusion because the set up was all there and masterly done. The fact that I just typed up 3 paragraphs in the spoiler alone shows just how engaged I was in the story and characters!

i hated the first 300 pages because it felt redundant, boring, and quiet frankly,,,,,,useless

the last 200 pages HOWEVER, were action packed, filled with interesting twists and reveals, and had me glued to the book to find out just how it could possibly end

I am so sad this series has come to an end. Supernova was an incredible, tense and heartbreaking conclusion to the Renegades trilogy. SO MANY TWISTS! My anxiety levels were insane.

Nova and Adrian had me going crazy for majority of this book and had me crying of frustration!
