I loved this book so much!!!
The author writes intimacy extremely well and it made my heart twist up in so many places. The plot has high stakes and kept me totally hooked throughout. And there were several places where I had to stop and re-read a line because of how good it was.
It's not a book that tries too hard to take itself seriously, but it works. And the more "serious" thematics (vulnerability, family, age differences) are given enough space to be explored interestingly.

i've been following ben and dee since the days of the ol' tumble site and it boggles the mind that 1) roni doesn't have a 3 book deal with a major publisher, and 2) there isn't already a netflix series adaptation in the works ...more

A satisfying yarn with some nicely drawn characters. Could have used more work on the friendships and peripheral characters, and a tighter plot or more consistency with flashing back through the timeline, but overall very enjoyable with a really solid conclusion.
If you read The Outsiders in middle school and thought, "I wish this was gayer" then boy do I have the book for you. Unless you're like me and age gap stuff skeeves you out. ...more
