Super Fun Sexy Times

Rate this book
Cartoonist Meredith McClaren (Hinges) tells five short, sexy stories featuring superheroes, supervillains, sidekicks, and the people who love them.

Showing consent and character-driven erotic relationships, Super Fun Sexy Times answers the age-old question: what happens when the mask comes off?

Two sidekicks on opposite sides get stuck in an underground lab together, and find a great way to pass the time. A tactician and superhero discuss their desires, limits, and kinks before their first time, and perhaps get a little too excited in the process. A pair of supervillains explore gender and sex together, while growing closer in their relationship. Lesbian heroes try out a kinky rolepaying scenario, and discover how to make it work for both of them. And an exhausted assassin relaxes after a long day with the kind (yet firm) attentions of his husband.

Told with care, sex-positivity, and humor, and featuring a wide variety of sexualities and bodies, Super Fun Sexy Times aims to create an erotic reading experience that lives up to its name!

Meredith McClaren is an illustrator and cartoonist who has no business doing either.

She sometimes entertains the idea of drawing the fourth book in Jen Van Meter’s Hopeless Savages series. And her journal comic Scraps indulges her closeted narcissism.

Supposedly she has a postal code in Arizona, but really, she could be anywhere.

Oh.
And don’t touch her stuff.
Seriously.

Mega fun and super sexy. My only complaint is that I wish each of the stories had been just a tad bit longer; I wanted more!

Well, I really liked that this is super-inclusive and shows a lot of discussion happening between partners! It's refreshing to see conversations about likes/dislikes, consent, and safety being shown in erotic fare.

Unfortunately, once each of the stories get to the "spicy" parts, I was left a bit cold. The kinks within are pretty specific and if they're not something you're into, then chances are those parts are not going to be much fun. I think it's great to see these ideas shown, but they just weren't my cuppa.

description

Also, as much as I appreciated the supportive partners shown in each story, I sort of wish there'd been at least one story showing more negotiation between partners who aren't necessarily fully into the same things.

So yay for showing diverse, inclusive scenarios. And double-yay for providing examples of being vulnerable to explain what you'd like to try. Hopefully the next volumes will have even more to learn!

3 stars for Super Fun Sexy Times.

I'll be upfront and say that I somehow missed the "erotica" tag on Netgalley when I first downloaded this graphic novel, so it did take me off-guard a little bit to see how explicit the scenes were! I wasn't going to mention that in this review until I noticed some other reviewers saying they had similar experiences, so I just want to point that out for anyone who may not be comfortable viewing explicit materials. It didn't bother me, it just surprised me a little. 😅

With that out of the way, Super Fun Sexy Times is an absolutely gorgeous, adorable, and inclusive AS HELL anthology about superheroes and their romantic escapades. There is just such a wide variety of rep in here — we've got characters of varying races, sexualities, identities, and body types — and they're all so soft and sweet and lovable. There's a bit of exploration into some kinks, and what I loved most of all is how consent-focused the stories were. In some of the stories, the romantic partners literally sit down, fully clothed and non-sexual, to discuss things ahead of time, and I thought that was such a fantastic representation of what consent talks need to look like for a lot of couples (especially when kinks and exploration are involved!).

All in all, I just thought this was such an important, necessarily, lovely, and well-crafted graphic novel and I'm really appreciative that I had the chance to read it. ♥

Thank you so much to the publisher for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

5 short stories, very inclusive in a range of ways. The stories, erotica, involve people who have superpowers. She is trying to be very inclusive to her readers, too, in the sense that this is about having fun, trying new things. The chapters all seem to have kinks but they are also into talking things through, no pressure, with a certain amount of humor. Oh, you know, as in an assassin relaxes after a long day at work with the kind (yet firm) attentions of his husband. A wide variety of sexualities and body-types.

NSFW!!!!! (Probably 10x the number of drawings of private parts compared to a Saga installment, just FYI).

These are fun and sexy, and sex positive in almost every conceivable way. Even the superhero stories made sense! (You know how hard it is to find erotica that makes sense?!)

The art is not entirely to my liking, but still...

I LOVED this book. Properly loved it. You know sometimes you're hungry and you don't know what you want to eat, and then someone brings you a meal that turns out to be the exact thing you didn't know you wanted? That's this book. I didn't know I wanted queer, diverse, body-posi superhero smut in my life – but it turns out I do. And I'm so happy I found it.

For me, this book succeeded on all the levels it needed to. The artwork is beautiful, the layouts are great, the characters are well-defined and diverse, the dialogue is snappy, the stories are surprising, and the sexy bits are varied and actually properly sexy.

I loved this book, and I can't wait for the next one.

The title says it all, really. These are five humorous, cute, and erotic short stories about super powered people of various races, genders, and orientations doing adult stuff with plenty of consent, communication, and kink. Good times.

Oh this was so cute and sweet and lovely!

This is a very inclusive and diverse comic about superheroes and villains and their romantic lives, which is so very different from anything I've read before. I loved the artwork -- but fair warnings, it's graphic so definitely NFSW. And I really enjoyed how each character was queer, and so many ivtersectionalities involving race, gender, and body size.

This was a super fun and quick comic that I recommend. Also hoping that there's a volume 2 in the works!

This was actually super cute! I loved the relationships in it and the way consent was a prominent theme.

There was great representation of different sexualities, body types and kinks!

This is pretty graphic (lots of dicks and vaginas about haha) but it was also really tasteful and everything was done in a very loving and respectful way!

I loved the little fact boxes about the characters at the end of each short story, the artwork was perfect and I will definitely be keeping my eye out for Vol 2!

Thank you so much to Limerence Press for providing an earc of this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I honestly didn't know what I was getting into when I picked up this earc, but I'm glad I was able to experience these sweet and steamy stories.

Consisting of a super diverse cast of superhero characters, Super Fun Sexy Times Vol 1, illustrates 5 individual snippets of couples exploring various sexual fantasies. This collection of stories features everything from m/m and w/w romances to nonbinary romance roles and kitten play kinks with people of various races, species (aliens), sizes, and ages.

I love that these stories were not only incredibly inclusive, but also covered so many healthy relationships convos in sucha short amount of pages (i.e. using condoms for safe sex, discussing limits/fantasies/health/history with your partner, etc). All the partners were incredibly supportive and loving, and it highlights that we'd all probably have a lot more fun during sexy time if we were open and honest about what we wanted/needed.

My only real complaints are that I wish the character cards (read: explanation of who was featured in the story) were at the START of each story rather than the end, and that these stories were given more time to grow and develop. If they were a little bit longer I feel like they could have been more fleshed out and not felt so instasex. But, hey, it's in the name so I guess I should understand what I signed up for.

Whether this is in your comfort zone or not, I think healthy conversations could stem from reading this collection.

What did I just read? Five unrelated short stories, five unconnected pairings, with character descriptions at the end of each piece.

Marked as Erotica / Superheroes — Mature Readers Only.

First impression?— Erotica / Superheroes is a genre with great potential. Each piece was a mere vignette, a half-baked vignette served with a dash of sass, and only barely enough set-up to qualify as aspiring to the classiness of erotica (rather than something more tawdry and possibly *ahem* more enjoyable).

Obviously this reader is not mature enough for Super Fun Sexy Times. Or possibly too mature? Each piece was so isolated that the only background came through the character descriptions given at the end of each story. (It's telling perhaps, that these descriptions were considered necessary to be included, but unfortunate they came so late).

The result was a book that felt like five islands, unlocated in time and space, with a title from a Borat movie. Rounded up to 3 stars, because some readers might enjoy a short trip to one or more of these sexy time islands.

Sometimes it is fun to think about what Superheroes do when no one is watching. With their tight spandex, and well toned bodies, we often ship our favorites together.

So, while all these superheroes are made up, as are the bad guys in some cases, they all have some sort of super power, and that is where we begin each short story.

The pictures are sensual. The sex is all consensual. There is no violence, other than, oh, an assassin throwing a body down a cliff, but that's all we see, not the violence that lead to it.

Back in the 1920s and '30s, there was something called the Tijuana Bible. They were sexy stories of cartoons that were well known to the public. They were very graphic. The sexual organs were huge, and the women not always willing.

This is not what Super Fun Sexy Times is.

There are gay encounters as well as straight. There are old as well as young.

Not safe for work, by any means, but a good quick erotic read. Recommended.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.

4 Stars for this graphic novel of five unique, sexy, NSFW short stories. I can’t say I’ve read a lot of erotic comic books, so I’m assuming that this is unlike typical graphic novels in this genre. This book is about their relationships as much as it is about the sex. Nevertheless, Super Fun Sexy Times does live up to its name. I liked each and every story. Its not often that I can say that about a collection.

Three things stood out to me. First is I loved the art of the writer/artist, Meredith McClaren. Most typical superhero comic book art consist of colors that are bright and outlined in black ink, McClaren’s style is not typical. While her colors are bold with minimal shading, her colors are not in the primary spectrum. Second is that her characters are not all heterosexual musclemen or busty women. They come in all sizes, shapes, colors and combinations. There are a number of couple combinations - M/M, M/F, F/F and M/Alien. Diversity and inclusion is the theme here. And the third thing which really stood out to me is that there is consent before and more discussion before and/or after sex than I ever expected.

Sidenote – I liked the choice the author made of adding the bios of each character after their stories. Because the fun facts she adds that are not mentioned in the story would've been distracting.

I'm looking forward for Vol. 2.

If you want something sexy and fast to read I recommend this graphic novel.
Besides the wonderful art, the 5 stories are sexy and inclusive, we have stories about 5 wonderful couples so you will end up identifying with one of them.
For being short stories I admit that I was very willing to more of them, for me it seemed that it was an introduction of characters, that introduction made me fall in love with them all, and I would certainly read more about them.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an ARC of this graphic novel in exchange for an honest review.

This graphic novel is definitely NSFW/for mature readers. I would not recommend this for a younger audience since some scenes are very much explicit. That said, I very much enjoyed it.
I liked how diverse the couples were and I also appreciated the fact that every couple had their story and then the smut was included in it. It wasn’t just sexy times, there were plots, and very good ones at that. The book is very sex-positive, something that was very nice.
I would totally read a whole book with some of these couples as main characters.

Thank you, NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read this comic!

Rating: 4 stars
Rep: LGBTQ+, POC and plus size rep

Well, I was not expecting to love this as I did! What a fantastic, inclusive, beautiful comic. I will admit, I immediately downloaded this after I saw the cover (superheroes & supervillains?!) and I didn't realise it was actually classed as "erotica" but honestly, that doesn't bother me in the slightest.

Consent, kinks, relationship dynamics and sex positivity are the themes of all the short stories in this collection. I loved it! I thought all the talks "pre-sex" were such an amazing thing, which is differently lacking in books and comics alike.

The art style was unique and beautiful. A lot of other reviews mentioned that they thought the stories were too short, and while I would've liked more, I still thought the pacing was really great and I liked the little character descriptions at the end of each story.

I know this wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea and I can definitely see why, but I really loved this one and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to people who like diverse characters, sex-positivity, superheroes and intriguing storylines.

I was not expecting this as it is. So it did make me slightly uncomfortable but the actual stories were entertaining enough. I wasn't a huge fan of the style of the artwork right away but it grew on me. I don't have much to say about this as its not really my type of book but if you are looking for a fun quick, enjoyable, erotica graphic novel, then pick this.

I do have one thing to mention about this book that I did appreciate and that is that the characters all varied in their body size. Definetly thumbs up for that.

OMG,omg, omg!I found something similar to Sunstone in themes, art, humor and hotness and I am obsessed!
Super Fun Sexy Times is a graphic collection of 5 novellas set in a world of superheroes, supervillains, their sidekicks and even aliens. The setting was amazing! I want to know so many things about this world now. Like gender changing aliens. Tell me more!
Each story was sex positive, had people of different body types, genders, sex preferences. Characters actually talked about their desires, conversations were open and honest, nobody was shamed for the things they want. The more stories like this the better this world will be.
And did I mention the hotness? Cause holy cow was it hot! I blushed quite a few times while reading.
I will read anything by this author now, that's for sure.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book was one of those books that just kept popping up every time I browsed NetGalley. I admit I was a little hesitant to read it simply because I didn’t think it could live up to what I expected. Luckily, I finally decided to take the plunge with this book and I was not disappointed.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS GRAPHIC NOVEL. Obviously, caps-lock was needed. Super Fun Sexy Times by Meredith McClaren is not your typical graphic novel, nor is it something that is going to be for everyone. It’s graphic, and I do mean graphic, so take that into consideration. You will see x-rated pictures, so I recommend this book for the 18+ age group. It’s also not a book you’re going to be able to read out in public, around family, or at work (seriously, don’t read this at work).

The artwork is beautifully done, but the content is what makes this graphic novel stand out. This book is practically a how-to novel on talking to your partners about sex, your wants, and your needs. The best part about this book is that fact that it features consent, sweet, fun, and sexy consent. I loved that we saw characters negotiating role play scenes & realistically talking about sex. I also truly appreciated how inclusive this book was. You have people of all shapes, sizes, sexual orientation, etc. which made me want to cry with how beautiful it was.

This is definitely a book I would recommend to the right reader. It is well worth the read & a book that I’m going to have to buy a hard copy of. It’s phenomenal. If this book sounds like your kind of read, you need to pick it up! It’s one of my favorite books I have read this year.

so sweet and sexy and wholesome! The book delivers what its title promises - Super Fun Sexy Times.

This comic is a collection of short erotic stories featuring heroes, villains and people of this world of superheroes and aliens having sex. It's erotic and pretty and I loved every page. The pastel color palette works really well here, the art style is distinct and lovely. It stands out among other artists I happened to read from. I like the panel composition and layouts. Truly a pleasure on various levels.

The characters! I adore them. It is rare for me to care deeply for so many new characters so quickly. Meredith McClaren created such adorable and lovable cast, you can't help but like them.
I appreciate how diverse the cast is. These stories feature QPOC, trans characters and queer characters. There are m/m and f/f and m/f and stories featuring questioning MC.

Super Fun Sexy Times is erotic, all stories features rather explicit sex scenes. These stories are about first encounters, kink discussion, kinky sex. The common theme between these stories is love and care the character have for each other. And open communication. We love open communication in this house.

My favorite is about a spider lady scientist and her partner, who is a thief and a cutie!

I would like to have a connection between the characters, beyond them living in the same world. Apart from this little complain, the book perfectly delivers for the synopsis and title promise.

I can't recommend it enough. If you like romance, if you like comics and graphic novels, this is a book for you. Truly a delight to read!

Okay, first off my friends, this is NSFW. Forewarning, do not attempt to read this in public.

With the forwarning out the way, let me say—this was so, so good. It was everything I had been hoping for and expecting. It was diverse, wonderful, inclusive and accepting. This book covered different orientations, preferences, ages, body types, and kinks in such a beautiful and adorable way.

This book consisted of five short superhero/villain stories that were dirty and a whole lot of wonderful. I was genuinely surprised by how much I got to know the characters, and how quickly the author and artist made me relate to them. The art style was gorgeous, pretty spot on for a book like this. It was tasteful, adorable and funny in parts.

INDIVIDUAL STORY RATINGS—
1. WORST CASE SCENARIO ★★★★★
2. THE PRE-FUCK ★★★★★
3. GOOD FOUNDATIONS ★★★★☆
4. THUMP thump! ★★★☆☆
5. THE RESPONSIBLE PARTIES ★★★★★

Overall, I adored this book and absolutely and utterly cannot wait until the next volume comes out. The only thing is this feels short (which would make sense because it's only a volume) but I think it could have included a few more stories or, elongated the already existing ones.

This erotic graphic novel was nothing I expected but actually everything my heart needed.

I have my experiences with all kinds of manga, but I think I never read an erotica graphic novel before. But the description of this book really intrigued me (I love everything with superheroes and villains and even more if it’s marked LGBT), so I wanted to know what it was about.

I really like the art style of it. Since the contures aren't done with harsh black lines, the art has a very gentle and pretty aesthetic to it that fits the content perfectly.

And it's not just superheroes and villains having sex. The characters happen to be heroes and villains (and not necessarily human) who have sex at some point of their chapter, but what I got from the five short stories is that the graphic novel is more about people opening up about their insecurities and identities and exploring their sexual fantasies with their partners in a very trusting and consensual (but still really hot) way.

Every single story in this book is incredibly beautiful and I'm glad I got to read it.

I guess I glossed over the “Erotica” tag on NetGalley, and it wasn’t mentioned on Goodreads, so head’s up that there is graphic content!

Otherwise, this is a pretty adorable (yet steamy) collection of illustrated superhero stories brimming with humor and sex-positivity. There is much talk of consent, boundaries, safe sex procedures, and kink exploration, and it is all handled with the utmost care. This was such an inclusive read! The A++ representation and diversity on hand is super progressive and comforting— sexualities, gender identities, ages, all shapes, sizes, and colors.

It’s frank in its discussions and exemplary in its message, but the heavy eroticism is just not my cup o’ tea (Very pornographic).

I would love to thank Limerence Press, Meredith McClaren and NetGalley for this book in exchange for an honest review.

Warning: Don't read this book if you are under 18 years old!

This graphic book is about superheroes and villains and their sexual relationships. The images are very explicit, but the stories themselves are great, in my opinion. I would have loved if they were a little longer. The characters are actually cute and no matter if they have big weight, or ar trans or anything else, their partner shows trust and love. And this was something I really appreciated about this book.

It comes out on 20th of August, so go buy it then if you are interested!
