Elena Aitken has written another emotional second chance book in her Timber Creek series. When We Fell is the story about Drew and Ben. Ben has been in love with Drew for years, but Drew married his brother, Eric. When Eric dies from pancreatic cancer, Eric makes Ben promise to look after Drew and his son, Austin. This is the story of how Drew puts her life back together, after a heartbreaking loss. We also get to catch up with Evan and Cam, Christy and Mark, and Amber and Logan. Do yourself a f ...more

This is the last of the Timber Creek books and yes, it is a standalone however there is SO much goodness in this series that you’ll want to read the ones before When We Fell. We’ve met Drew and Ben before however this is their story. And let’s not forget Austin! OMG, this five year old little boy melted my heart.

Drew’s husband just recently passed away, from a long bout of fighting cancer, and she is back in her hometown where there are family and friends to help with her and Austin’s path out o

Elena Aitken’s Timber Creek series is all about redemption & second chances. In When We Fell, Ben has been in love with Drew since they were in high school. Drew had no idea. After Ben introduced her to his brother Eric, she never looked back. Eric & Drew got married, had a son named Austin, moved back to Timber Creek, Eric battled cancer & lost. Now Drew is trying to find a way to continue with life & Ben is there to support her & help with Austin. The problem is Ben’s feelings never died & now ...more

This is a very emotional story, I teetered between laughing and crying in many places, as does Drew. She has lost her husband Eric to cancer. They had moved back to Timber Creek to be with family and friends when they knew his illness was terminal. Eric has been gone for around ten months when the story begins, and for much of that time Drew has been a mess; so grief-stricken that her dear friend Amber, who had moved back home from a high powered job in San Francisco to look after her, (just one ...more

I loved this book. So heartwarming and sad. When Drew lost her husband it was devastating to say the least, but she wasn’t alone. She had good friends to help her, and her husbands brother there. Her son was the most important thing to her. What Ben did for her and Austin was beyond amazing. When Drew showed Ben something Eric had written before he passed he knew he had to show Austin what him and his brother did. It was something they did when they were kids. It was something he needed to share ...more

Drew is trying to move on after losing her husband Eric to pancreatic cancer. She is focused on caring for her son and finding a new career in Timber Creek. Ben promised his brother Eric that he would look after Drew and Austin. Drew and Ben spend a lot of time together and their relationship starts to evolve. This story is emotional and heartfelt. How soon is too soon to move forward after the death of a spouse? Can Drew move forward with Ben and not feel like she is betraying Eric? I love how ...more

There is no time limit on grief

Drew has lost her husband to cancer and must learn to live without him. She has a young son who looks so much like his father that it’s sometimes overwhelming. With the help of friends and family, specifically her husband’s younger brother who has always loved her, she learns that grief has no time limit, and that, just because you had a great love, you can still find the capacity to open your heart to a new love. Having lost my husband to cancer, this book resonat

From the start of the series I have been wanting to read Ben and Drew’s story and it didn’t disappoint. A very emotional read. This book gets you thinking what you would do if you are in their shoes. I love how it enfolds although I would have loved a little bit more of the romantic side. A fab read, though loved it.

I was happy to finally be reading Drew and Bens story. Can be read as a standalone but even better if you have read the series.

A second chance love story that is full of emotion and will make you shed a tear or two. You also get more of an update on how the other couples from the series are doing.

Fourth in the Timber Creek Series and my favorite, so far. This story deals with loss and renewal. There is heartbreak, stress, depression and romance. The character interactions are well and truly done, in places, a little over the top, but I felt an emotional link with the characters. Well done and a good read.

Another wonderful story of second chances. Such a hard topic of loss and grief but the hope of the future. As always, well written and keeps you reading until the end. Looking forward to more stories.❤️❤️

(Timber Creek) 4. When We Fell

Once again these women come together to support one another in whatever is going on in their lives. I love stories that show support and a strong bond.

Loved this second chance story, while the subject matter was tricky, Ms. Aitken wrote it brilliantly! I laughed and cried (a lot) and thoroughly enjoyed Ben and Drew’s story. The whole series was about love and friendship and second chances. Loved it!

Wow! Elena Aitken can really write. She is a phenomenal writer. She knows what her readers want in a book and always go beyond what they want.

In When We Fell we get Drew and Ben's story. Both Ben and Drew are on a journey. They are learning to move forward and pick up their shattered lives and rebuild them. They are learning acceptance. Drew is discovering who she is with out Eric and moving forward. Drew is learning how to be a single parent to her son Austin. Ben is learning how to go on with
