Another Exciting Adventure!

I am always ready to sit down and read the next book in this exciting series. This fabulous story is full of mystery, conflict surrounding Laysa’s dead husband and traveling to beautiful places.

I love how protective Kanen is as he flies to Laysa’s rescue after her tearful call for help. I enjoyed the many twists and turns as this story leads you on a mysterious adventure around England and Spain.

I love the connection of a decades old crime, unsavory family members, the “who done it” vibe and the ever-present greed and revenge that never goes away. It always amazes me about the “guy” who feels obsessive in his mind that he has been severely wronged, he should get everything and will do almost anything to obtain what he feels he’s entitled to. This aspect of the story, along with the protective measures Kanen and his friends are taking, keep the reader invested in seeing what will happen next.

This story has it all, the mystery and danger, damsel in distress, discovery of new love and, of course, HOT men! I can’t wait for the next book in this series! I loved it!

Kanen is another enjoyable episode of the SEALs of Honor saga. Once again, the author changes the setting of the story, moving it to eastern England. Kanen is one of the newest members of the team, participating in a training session in Germany when a desperate call for help from one of his best friends has him rushing across the British Channel, accompanied by two of his teammates. The person in danger is the widow of a childhood friend; as the story develops, new facets of his personality emerge, unraveling a dangerous and dark stream of events that give life to a twisted, dramatic and intriguing plot. The author's goal, however, is not to explore, and reveal, every detail of the story. The focus is on the personalities of the cast of characters; the interactions between the members of the Seals team, the protagonists' vivid traits and lively banter and the fast-paced plot are the elements that make the story interesting and entertaining.

Another action packed story in this series. Kanen in on a mission in Germany when he receives a call from his deceased best friend's wife Laysa. She's being held captive and screams while on the phone. So naturally he drops everything to go to England to find out what's going on. Along the path to finding out who was after Laysa and why, she finds out that she didn't know her husband as well as she thought.

This is book 19 in the SEALs of Honor series and it features Kanen and Laysa. This is first and foremost a mystery and lastly a very slight friends-to-lovers romance. I just didn’t feel like there was much thought put into this story line. The mystery was not exciting…AT ALL. To have three Navy SEALs, four if you include Mason and MI6 involved in a story that could’ve been led by a regular guy and an inquisitive woman, made this book fall way short of this authors previous works. We’re also left with too many questions about Blake’s character as a man and a husband. Oh, and we didn’t even get to meet Charles!

Although this book definitely wasn’t one of my favorites, I do look forward to future books by this author.

Dale Mayer’s new SEALs of Honor book, Kanen, had me hooked from the very beginning and it didn’t let me loose until the very last page.

Kanen receives a panicked call from Laysa, the widow of his best friend, Blake. She explains that a man is beating her up because he believes she knows where her husband hid something that Blake was holding for him. Laysa has no idea what he is looking for, so the man forces her to call Kanen to search. He threatens to kill Laysa if he doesn’t find the hidden item.

Unfortunately, Laysa and Kanen have no idea what they are looking for since the man has not told them. Therefore, Kanen flies to England to visit Laysa and help her search for the hidden item. However before he arrives, Laysa tricks the man, and manages to escape.

When Kanen arrives, he and Laysa hunt for unknown hidden item. They also intend to discover why this item is so important, and, thus, hopefully, discover the name of Laysa’s attacker.

As in all of her books, Ms. Mayer takes her readers on a wild roller coaster ride. She drops small clues that seem to help us figure out who Laysa’s attacker is and what the item is that he wants. However, these clues usually lead Laysa, Kanen and the reader into many dead ends.

The author also enjoys forcing the main character to jump through hoops in order to figure out what Laysa’s attacker actually wants with this item. Ms. Mayer also weaves throughout the story some hints that Blake may not have actually been the type of man that everyone thought he was.

Kanen’s book is another exciting thriller in her SEALs of Honor series!

Intrigue on Foreign Soil
In Germany with Taylor and Nelson for training in the Alps, Kanen received a disturbing call from pre-school teacher Laysa, the widow of his best friend Blake. After her panicked greeting, the phone was taken by her captor, who was holding her in her apartment in England. Laysa had been held for hours of beatings, threats and demands that she tell her captor where Blake had hidden the items that the captor needed…his “insurance policy.” Laysa has no idea, and neither does Kanen, though the captor knows a lot about Kanen, so that’s very curious. By the time the three SEALs arrive in England, though, Laysa has escaped her captor and found shelter with a British policeman Carl and his wife who live in her apartment building. Together, Laysa and the SEALs work to find out who wants what Blake had, what that something is, and why he is so desperate to get it now as Blake died two years ago. Blend in agents from MI6 in England working on the case and a trip to Spain to find a man in an old photo. SO much action and suspense, and of course the changing relationship between Kanen and Laysa as they brainstorm the hows and whys of Blake’s involvement in any of this foreign intrigue.

SEALs of Honor- Kanen

This is another exciting book in this SEALs of Honor series with the illegible bachelor SEALs dwindle down and Kanen is one of the few remaining. His best friend, Blake, who died his wife Laysa calls for his help. Someone was beating her up and he demanded she call him. He was on SEAL training exercises but Mason got him, Taylor and Nelson orders and a flight to England to help her. He had true loving feelings for her and very protective of Laysa. He was hoping it would turn into more and that she would feel the same way towards him now that Blake had died a year ago. This was a very exciting adventure as Laysa escapes and they meet up with her to solve the mystery of why this man insisted Blake had something of his and he wanted it back. It turns out to be pictures that Blake had hidden in his gym locker. The story behind them leads them to Spain and to victims that were blackmailed by the owner of these erotic pictures many years ago. It was non stop action as they solve this mystery and catch the man behind everything. This adventure brings Kanen and Laysa closer together and they find that true friends can fall in love. This was an amazing story and I cannot wait to read the next release about Nelson. I highly recommend this series.

This is an exciting action packed suspense filled nail biting romance story. While on a training mission with two other Navy Seals Kanen gets a call from his friend Laysa she doesn't sound right then he hears a scream he calls her but a man comes in the phone he says I want my property back I have to Blake but I need it now.If I don't get it back Laysa dies.Kanen calls Mason right away telling him what's going on Mason asks if he needs some men to back him up he says Nelson and Taylor offered Mason said he'd call him back when he had everything cleared. The first call says Nelson is cleared to go he'll let him know if Taylor will be too. When Mason calls back he says Taylor is cleared also but that they have to work with M16 because they aren't happy that Navy Seals are coming over again .There are so many twists and turns to this story will keep you riveted until the very last page and leave you begging for more.I love the way this amazing author brings the characters to life before your eyes and makes you feel their emotions and their pain.I can hardly wait to see what's next by this multi talented author.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

This was a wonderfully written romance with a LOT of intrigue. I mean really what did Laysa's assailant want? She had no clue. He beat her and made her call her old friend Kanen. Fortunately he along with two other SEALs were in Germany and not the US to come to her aid as time was of the essence. Laysa was able to get away on her own but joining up with Kanen and his friends, the search and mysteries just start to roll in.

I loved reading the dual POV format. Having Laysa and Kanen being old friends. Laysa was married to Kanen's best friend Blake. Blake was killed in an accident about nine months before these events. As the story unfolds, not everything is as it seemed for Laysa. She comes to depend more and more on her old friend Kanen. Seeing their thoughts really helped to see how these two old friends come to regard each other and hope that the other feels the same.

I highly recommend this military intrigue romance!! I look forward to reading Nelson's and Taylor's stories as these two were just as wonderful.

A fantastic read straight in with some action and suspense that carries on through the book, a threat that builds with a twist here and there to stop you really guessing the outcome or the bad guy, at least for most of it anyway. I loved the really strong friendship bond the two main characters had and not just because of her deceased husband but in their own right as well, to read and hope it would blossom into more for both kept me gripped. The plot is interesting and a bit different in subject matter, the two other main characters came across as very likeable and I look forward to their books. Dale always manages to weave something that keeps you a little off kilter but at the same time give a bit of an edge which I love, the romantic side usually starts fairly early but sometimes she mixes it up and slows it down as was the case here. Once it starts though you expect a few sparks and definitely a bit of protectiveness with the guys behaviour. Fabulous read.

Kanen, Book #19 in this Seals of Honor series and it was as good as the others.

This book finds Kanen along with two of his newest team members rushing to the aid of Kanen's best friend's widow who is being held hostage in England and he was on a training mission in Germany. She and Kanen had also been childhood friends. But one call to Mason and he was on his way to Laysa along with Nelson and Taylor who were on the training mission with him but met the criteria to also lend a hand in this rescue mission.

This book is filled with mystery, kidnapping, murder, deceit, blackmail and action on every page. Also, heartbreaking revelations that no woman wants to find out after her husband is dead.

Kanen and Laysa had never given much thought of being a couple since she had fallen in love and married Blake but it seems there is a chemistry between them now. But could they have a lasting relationship without her dead husband being between them?

I was kindly provided this book as an ARC; in exchange for my honest review. This is book 20 in the SEALs Of Honor series. This book revolves around Kanen (of note in book 19 he was referred to as Kannen. I think this was a simple continuity oversight.) and Laysa. (My auto-spell-corrector went bonkers on that name.)

I’m doing this review slightly different than my previous ones. Family emergency and time constraints just don’t allow for the details I usually include.

This is a very looong series; with several connected series. I would say it was close to as good/great as the previous books in series. However, the ending just wasn’t enough; I was left feeling like there should have been 3 or more chapters at minimum. I recommend this book, but do warn the reader of this. Truly I’d give it 3 1/2 stars, but, because I love Ms. Dale’s books; so I gave the rating a slight bump (glass half full..)

Kanen's best friend's wife Laysa is in trouble and he does a mad dash across Europe to get to her as she is currently held captive and being tortured over something that her dead husband supposedly hid - the problem is neither of them knows what it is nor where it is. As they start to unravel the mystery they will delve into her husband's life, the man who wants whatever was hidden as well as a chance for them both to isolate and explore their feeling for each other. As they get closer to the mystery they will have to balance their own opinions against what the man will do when they find what he seeks - which is worse?

I really enjoyed this SEAL story which had a great mixture of drama, danger, betrayal and love. Well written and very enjoyable, the resolution will put to be some of the past as well as set things up for a great future.

Laysa is surprised when her home is broken into and she is tortured and held against her will because she doesn't know anything about a package her dead husband was supposedly keeping for her attacker. Her attacker forces her to make a call to her husband's best friend, Kanen, who immediately comes to try to help her. Laysa manages to escape and once Kanen and his friends arrive, they launch an investigation into trying to find the information Laysa's attacker is after.

Laysa and Kanen have been friends for a long time and spending time together on the investigation brings them closer together. Can they give in to their feelings and not look at it as a betrayal to Laysa's dead husband and Kanen's best friend? They will need to solve the investigation first and see if they still feel the same in the end.

Kanen

WOW! Dale has done it again! This story is about Kanen and Laysa. The story starts out with Laysa being kidnapped and beaten. The story progresses as Kanen gets the call and goes charging after Laysa. What transpires as the team figures out why Laysa was kidnapped and beaten puts her dead husband in bad lights. Laysa doesn't want to believe that of her dead husband but as evidence shows, he turned out to have a temper and would express it away from his wife. As the team continues their search, they come upon blackmail photos. In the end, they find out who had kidnapped and beaten Laysa and turn him over to MI6. Moral of this story is revenge and greed is never a winning situation. Someone always loses. The ending finally had Kanen and Laysa getting together to start working on their happily ever after. FANTASTIC job Dale! I would highly recommend this book.

Kanen is doing some training in Europe when he gets a call from his best friend's widow. Laysa is being held captive for something that he dead husband has that doesn't belong to him. Kanen races to England to help her and what follows is a some what confusing tale of greed, blackmail, and revenge.

The story revolves an item that the kidnapper thinks that Laysa's window was holding for him. She has no idea what he is talking about. It appears her husband had a whole other life going on. It's a race against time to find the object in question and save Laysa from certain death.

The story follows the same formula as the other in the series. This one however was a bit confusing to me. I did like that characters and was satisfied with the ending. The only reason why I gave it 4 stars because the story was a bit hard to follow as the mystery began to unwind.

I have been frantically buying this series, trying to catch up before this book came out. Unfortunately I am only half way through and this book is here.

Laysa has a really big problem she didn't know she had. Her late husband had something somebody desperately wants.

Kanen was best friends with both Laysa and Blake since grade school. While Blake hadn't been a SEAL he had been a Naval Officer, so that his wife was in trouble meant Kanen was going to do his best to get her out of it.

With Mason's help, Kanen along with his teammates Taylor and Nelson, are able to leave their current training mission to go to Laysa's aid.

Their first meeting doesn't go quite as planned though, as the guys check out her apartment.

Plenty of questions and not a lot of answers. The answers they do find don't make a lot of sense either.

Layla's not one to be left out so they end up doing a lot of behind the scenes investigating and the results are intriguing.

It also seems Blake was more than he appeared to be, and Layla is struck with blow after blow of revelations.

Kanen was beside her for comfort all the way, as they slowly work themselves into a relationship. One that surprises the two of them.

I love the way these guys fight the concept of 'keepers' only to fall for one themselves.

There's lots of fun mixed with the suspense in this one and I loved the simmer to sizzle.

This is another wonderful story in the SEALs of Honor series, this book is filled with plenty of drama, action and intrigue. Twists and turns galore, a wonderful friends to lovers tale in the midst of chaos. Kanen and Laysa have been friends for years and with him being bff's with her deceased husband, Blake makes him almost family. Now, a year after Blake's death, Laysa is attacked for something that Blake was into. Can Kanen come to her aid in time and solve the mystery that surronds them now?

This series is action packed, filled with sexy alpha heroes who protect the innocent and what's theirs. Dale Mayer writes this genre incredibly well.

When Kanen gets a call from his late best friend’s widow, Laysa he rushes to her rescue with two other members of a SEAL team. Once he gets there his protective side shines through for his old friend Laysa but also some more feelings arise between them as they race to find out who threatened and beat her up and why.
A great read with a bit of steam, suspense and some action which was another page turner from this author. I LOVE the little to no drama between them and how once they know it’s for them, there’s no doubts, no running away and no hiding their feelings and intentions. I also enjoyed the two new characters, Nelson and Taylor and I can’t wait to read their stories.

This is another exciting book by Dale Mayer! I have a tendency to read each book so fast to find out who the culprit is that I can read it again for slower enjoyment catching things I missed the first time around. This is a story of Kanen who answers a call for help from an old friend Layla, who has been held hostage and beaten for information on the whereabouts of a package that her deceased husband (who was also a friend of Kanen) had hidden for another friend. Very involved and includes M16 and a merry chase trying to follow clues to an answer. Anger, greed and a sense of entitlement are part of this story but honor, loyalty and caring are a part as well. Well done! Definitely a romantic suspense! I'm looking forward to more!

Kanen by Dale Mayer
SEALs of Honor Series Book 20
Kanen Larson was out on a training op with Nelson and Taylor. When an old friend calls and she's in trouble...the three of them head out to England. Kanen plans on finding out what's going on and he has plans on dealing out some violence of his own to the man who dared to hurt Laysa.

Laysa Elliott had loved her husband, Blake. Kanen had been his best friend and hers. As things start unfolding, it brings up questions of how well she really knew her husband. Now she was just thankful to have such a protector as Kanen and his friends.

Another great suspense romance with another “keeper” in the end.

Kanen and two of his teammates are in Germany undergoing some training when he receives a call from Laysa, his best friend’s widow. She is being held captive by someone who was looking for something that they believed her husband had and thought she knew where it was. Kanen doesn’t hesitate to rush to England with his teammates and find that she has managed to escape.

Neither Kanen or Laysa knew what her captor was looking for and the only way to ensure her safety was to find what they were looking for so they can find who was behind it. Their investigation uncovers information about the man they thought they knew and also has them questing their true feelings for each other.

This is an action packed story filled with suspense, twists and romance.

Oh how do I love this series of books. Kanen is called to Britain after his best friends wife calls for help after being held captive in her flat. Laysa needs Kanen to help her escape the man who has held her captive and beaten her up. A best friend of her late husband and of hers sees him flying from US to Britain to help all he can. This brings us into an intriguing plot line as we see Kanen and 2 of his teammates help investigate why she was held. We see the heroes and heroine take a trip to Spain and sees a complex case of murder, blackmail, revenge and some home truths about her husband. Will she see the end or will her life be gone? A great read from start to finish.

This was a great book. It kept me engrossed from start to finish. Loved the story but didn't want it to end! The story and the interaction between the characters kept me engrossed. I also loved how Dale referenced other characters from another book into this story line. The characters are awesome and so lovable and have you rooting for them till the very end! The flow of the book is written so that you just keep on reading. If you love a great mystery and a love story you will absolutely love this book!

(3.5) There are plenty of Seals and stories to be told, I am not tired of the series, but this one dropped me. Started off extremely well, but I am not really sure how I feel about the relationship dynamics. I get the friends to lovers, etc but this one didn't take me. The mystery was also a no go for me and I felt the dead husband was more a jerk they both should have seen through. That being said it is always awesome to run across old friends. They warm the soul. Sorry this one was Rocky for me, maybe I wasn't coming from the right place. Thank you so much for the Arc. All thoughts and opinions are my own and we're unsolicited.

A wonderful read that I couldn't put down with engaging characters and a well-crafted story that kept me on the edge of my seat with mystery, suspense, twists, turns, hot SEALs and so much more. I fell in love with Kanen and his attraction and chemistry with Laysa (widow of his best friend Blake) who called him when she was in trouble. This was go go go from the get go, I just love how the guys pulled together after Kanen got the call from Laysa and there is no hesitation to help her. There is plenty of mystery to Laysa's dead husband and the twists and surprises that are unearthed as they find out who is behind everything leaves you in shock at times. You are doubting the honesty of most you meet but also find some touching moments along the way as well as enjoy seeing both Kanen and Laysa come to some self realisations over the time they spend together.

I truly enjoyed Kanen and Laysa's story. Blake was a man of secrets and as the story unravels so do his secrets. Kanen and Laysa both childhood friends of Blake's are left reeling from his death, both in different ways, but it draws them closer. The threat against her is very real and Kanen is there to help sort it out and get to the bottom of it. The intrigue and mystery is on high right from the start and add in the banter of Nelson and Taylor and this is one of the best Seals book yet. It's just so hard deciding which story I love the most, but Kanen is most certainly one at the top. I volunteered to read this book on Booksprout.

An interesting story. Kanen was a real best friend. He came to the rescue for a deceased best friend’s wife. There he found Laysa, surviving from tortured by someone who wanted something from her deceased husband. A husband who died years ago. What was it? Where was it? Why now?

Most of this book stressed on the mystery. Although action filled, I believe SEALs and MI6 were just overkill. It’s not an extremely dangerous and difficult task. So, overall I enjoyed the story while kept my disbelieve in check.

I was provided a complementary copy by the author / publisher through Booksprout, but this in no way influenced my thoughts or opinions.
