Malcolm let himself go and followed Seong-Jae into the dark, no matter how deep or how far he fell, no matter what depths of destructive, ripping pleasure he sought.
Always, always he would follow Seong-Jae.
Even if he led Malcolm into ruin.

Without a shadow of a doubt my favourite of the series so far, and not only for the reason I’m sure lovers of the series are going to be beside themselves over. A thrilling ride in every possible way.

description was bittersweet and beautiful and hurtful and wonderful...”

That was the sound of my body hitting the floor. I'm posting from beyond the grave, because this installment killed me.

The promise all that crackling, snapping chemistry made? It didn't just fulfill it, it was destroyed in a brilliant, whitehot blaze of passion and desire. I was obliterated.

This might honestly be the single hottest thing I've ever read. Maybe, just maybe it's because I'm so invested in them but I'm pretty damn sure it's just that meltingly hot.

Seriously, I have nothing el

Things between Malcom and Seong-Jae finally shift past this sort of...almost holding pattern they've been in, us and them KNOWING they want each other but not doing anything about it. Now I won't say how they shift past it, but it's goood and amazing and makes just want to squeal and go ashdaskjdhajk!!

It's crazy to think in the timeline of these books it's only been a little more than a month and a half since they met. But I think given that they see each

If you're not afraid of the dark side...

'Criminal Intentions: Where There's Smoke' is a story that should interest you...that is...if you've read the first 5 books.

Admittedly you could probably read this book without doing that, but there

It was all plodding along very nicely ... another crime to solve, the chemistry, the push and pull, the sexual tension ... "Grand, so", I said to myself ...

Then ...

Yeah, you know what I am on about (if you have read it)!!

But, I digress. Let's get back to the crime (do we have to ?????)
No, we don't ... suffice to say, it was a gory crime, as usual and Mal and Seong-Jae had to try and solve it. LOL. I was going to say I didn't give a shit about the crime. I did ... but I had more important things
This book blew my mind. I have been waiting for it and knew it would be fantabulous. And it WAS! I loved it. I love Malcolm and Seong-Jae as work partners. They fit so well, they understand each other even when no words are spoken. It's just amazeballs. This book has a very good balance of investigative work and personal relationships. Multiple POVs give it even bigger emotional punch and ramp up the intensity of the story.

After Malcolm finally makes his decision to move forward with his life m

Book 3 was a DNF and I skipped 4 and 5 all together. Do I regret it? Nah... I couldn’t hang on a moment longer for things to start cooking between these two. I even enjoyed this case more than the first few books. I can’t wait to see how things progress between these guys now 🤗

Millions stars for this. Best book of this year for me. The best. OMG.
I can't get over this final ...I'm always on a cloud of intense joy.

So so so
We left our two guys in a "good" situation. I mean they talked and some decisions will be taken but hey for once they are good.

Seong-Yae is still irritated by someone's constant presence (me too BUT I have to admit that I like her tough but she has to go away haha).

Oh my freaking goodness.... this was something else...

Oh boy oh boy in this installment there is something different going on.

I never have read an exciting read as this one... it was thrilling. I was sitting on the edge of my chair, hurried through all the sentences because ... oh boy... i had goosebumps and a thick throat ... would the outcome be as I hoped it would...?

“Serendipity and synchronicity are beautiful things,”

I was almost afraid to read further when Seong-Jae drove Malcolm home...

“And Seong-Jae smiled back. At once shy and sly, that curve of his lips enticed with a thousand more secrets waiting to be discovered, a thousand more untold things that could rock Malcolm’s world and leave him shaken and torn and utterly, willfully ruined.

Frickin finally with these two! Chapters 12 and 13. I think I about melted into my seat. The singing scene alone almost killed me. Six books of build up.

So. Worth. The. Wait.

Love this series!!
Another interesting crime, more character development for Malcolm and Seong-Jae, awesome chemistry........
Well, just hot and beautiful! 😍💕

I love this series more with every episode! The homicide investigation in this one was utterly riveting and kept me on the edge of my metaphorical seat. It’s quite topical and subtly political, the current state of policing in black communities presented with care and empathy, making events and characters relatable to any reader. Most intriguing though is the still-building, push and pull UST between Malcolm and Seong-Jae, tempered by Seong-Jae’s annoyance (jealousy?) with Malcolm’s wife still i ...more
Wow Malcolm! I mean how in love a man can be? Thanks for the demonstration.

Ok, now that I calmed down I'd like to appreciate Mr. McCade's amazing characterization and writing style, and the invaluable contribution he made to the mystery m/m genre. I really like the fact that in each episode we are facing a new set of problems. What I mean is, if you follow this genre long enough, you often realize that some authors fit the stories inside a formula - characters change, scenary changes, but the ma

Holy. Moly.

Chapter 13!
I must say I didn't expect that. At all! Not so 'soon'.

And in such a way! It took my breath away and fried my last remaining few brain cells!
This is sheer magic! And just so so so good!

The chemistry here is really way off the charts. I read most of this book on a train, and had a hard time trying to suppress any outbursts of OMG or inappropriate noises!

Apart from that absolutely mind-blowing, knock me off my seat, hot ending, what else is there?

I love, love,

This was the best and I didn’t want it to end!!

I love those two so much, they make me squeal every time they come closer and share things between them. This one though OMG. I’ll have to go back and read it again and then maybe again.

The mystery is different this time but very good and it kept me hoping, like the two of them did. Seong-Jae was more affected by this case because he made a promise and he wanted to keep it. But having each other, being there, is enough for them to pull them back an
Oh. My. God. 🤩 Was that coming together worth waiting for or what?? 😁 Fantastic...and the fact that Mal and Seong-Jae managed to (view spoiler) was the icing on top of the cake for me. There is no way to pause this series. Not with that ending. On to book #7.
Okay GR, I know you're never gonna give us half-stars...but in this instance it's not even necessary. Because if I could I'd give this one MORE than 5 stars.

Well I went from having to talk myself into reading this series to not playing Animal Crossing so I could read this series. So there's that. (Also if you're on AC, friend me I got peaches).

Thank you very much to the author for providing a copy of this novel via Booksprout in exchange for an honest review.

I think that is probably the sentiment of everyone who has been following this series. FINALLY.

We’re six books into the series and our amazing main characters finally boned. Although it’s only been about a month and a half, maybe two months, for Seong-Jae and Malcolm, for those of us who have been reading Crimi

Where do I START!!

Might be some spoilers.. Maybe...

So far this has been a spectacular series, every single book a page turner. In this episode, we deal with another homicide that Malcolm and Seong-Jae have to solve, and this one is a tad different because they are not sure if it was a homicide or not since there is no body. In between finding out what is what, we have Malcolm flirting. With Seong-Jae. Which was cute. We get pov's from Malcolm and Seong-Jae, as well as a short one with Gabrie

This installment is excellent example of why I love this series. Here we have a perfect balance of gripping police investigation and realistic well-written character drama.

This book offers so many great scenes and interpersonal interactions between my favorite characters. Seong-Jae and Malcolm were shining here. I’m deeply invested in Gabi’s future. Sade is always a delight and I’m itching to learn more about them. (And for them and Malcolm to be on good terms again).

McCade is brilliant
I don't want to be cheesy and go: they finally fucked because that's totally not all that happened in this episode. We got so much of Seongjae opening up and getting personal with the case, even though it hurt him so much. I loved that this episode just focused on Seongjae and Malcolm talking and taking healthy steps towards a functioning relationship. I loved that behind every snarky comment, Seongjae blushed and Malcolm would smile so much. Remember my grumpy man from episode 1? I do! He was s ...more
