brilliant stuff, simple math, long on vocab, deserves a modern revisement/treatment with all sorts of higher level math would make this a tasty morsel for the modern scientist. can't find any unaddressed extant counter-arguments.

plate tectonics doesn't answer everything. ice-cap asymmetry causes crustal shifting like a washing machine off balance. mountains are caused by folding of surrounding regions where gravity can pull on areas that have been shifted into areas of weak support. this subsidence would explain why certain geographies drop and are covered with water even though the sea level has dropped.

a layer of rock 2200 feet high would fracture the crust!

This book provides a theory that main stream science ignores. Within the last few year, it was discovered that there are anomalies within the earth's mantle that science is having a very hard time explaining away using the current plate tectonic theory. However, using the rapid crust displacement theory and thermodynamics, these anomalies can be explained within a scientific parameter.

However, one aspect of the rapid crust displacement theory is used by religious leaders to prove a point within Genesis. The religion of science will never allow another religion within its realm.

This one’s a pretty old-school take on how the Earth works, focusing on the idea that the crust is always moving. It’s packed with geological stuff that might go over your head if you’re not into earth science, but it’s interesting to see how scientists back then were piecing things together. The writing feels a bit dated and technical at times, so it’s not exactly a page-turner, but if you’re into geology or history of science, it’s a neat look at how ideas about the Earth’s surface developed.
