I Voluntarily Reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book!!
first off let me just say that I'm a huge Callie Anderson fan I'm incredibly drawn to endless Love letter and invisible love letter. That story really connected with the readers and allowed them to be able to feel and see the actual feelings between the characters. However this story fell a little flat for me. I just felt like Katherine's character was missing something and I think it was just that she couldn't really reveal herself and I almost felt like the character was hidden behind the scenes. The dialogue was kind of iffy and her and Cole's reactions were just different as well. And even after she returns from her rehabs day. it's ideal that individuals that suffered from addiction have to wait at least a year before they can be involved with someone else in a romantic relationship. I really do wish that Katherine would have held her sobriety to her herself on a on a higher pedestal than she did. It seems like to me that this whole story was about Cole. She was so drawn to Cole and she Wasn't able to really do anything else. She was constantly distracted by him and even though he was a good guy you can tell through the story that he was a good guy but unfortunately this story didn't really meet my hoopla. I'm not even sure if that's a word hoopla? I will say this the plot of a story in the reasoning behind the story was the most important part of the whole entire book. I think it's important to remember that each individual or goes through addiction and has sexual assault in their past is a little raw. From experience I can tell you that Callie did a beautiful job protecting the safety and the concern of those that suffered from addiction sexual assault. However I just think that it needed a little more.
I was nervous to begin Redemption after the cliffy we were left on after Indiscretion but I didn't need to worry. I found Kat and cole story was dark and had to get worse before it got better but it was a good solid read. The ending had me feeling all the feels.
This was a good conclusion to the Kathrine and Cole's story. Kathrine relapsed and it broke her even more. Having her past catch up with her was too much to bare. Fortunately, she has people who care about her and willing to do anything to help her; Cole being one of them. His love gives her the strength to fight her demons. The thing I liked the most was that Katherine was the one to fix herself. She had the desire to do so and took the steps necessary. Cole and her friend weren't overbearing, and weren't pushing her when she wasn't ready. Although, there were times that I felt like they could have done more, especially Lila and Ben. Cole was a good guy and someone that Katherine needed. There were sweet moments and emotional moments. And moments where Kathrine came off immature. However, she knew her behavior was childish, so I didn't mind so much. I felt that Redemption was about Katherine's journey and how Cole's love saved her in many ways.
Indiscretion left us dangling on a ledge. Kat is spiraling, free falling into oblivion. She's numbing herself with pills and alcohol. Cole can't understand what is going on and why she won't return his calls. Lia and Ben are giving her space, but they suspect what's going on.
Kat spends a lot of time high and lost. It's only when she reaches rock bottom that she's open to change. Cole is her rock, he's determined to be there for her.
Redemption is about confronting your demons, letting go of the past and opening up to possibilities for the future.
Love is stronger than all the daemons! This is one love story that love wins out! Ashley @ Carolina Chic’s Read
“Love is only a word until someone gives it meaning”
Cole and Katherine give love meaning to each other. This book I could not put down. After the cliffhanger I didn’t see coming in book one, book two was even more than I imagined. The heartache and pain that Katherine has to endure to find the meaning that love can be. Cole is the perfect alpha male to make sure that Katherine is his till the end! Katherine’s brokenness makes you ache for her and cheering for her to give into love. This was one awesome book! I cannot wait to see how the rest of the family’s lives play out.
Cole goes all alpha male for his woman! 5 Stars Duet! Elizabeth @ Carolina Chic’s Read
Cole and Katherine are a match... one that is made for each other. Cole is alpha protective with Katherine. He gives her everything that she needs... even when he cannot be with her. She is his and He is hers... so why wouldn't he provide for the woman that belongs to him.
Katherine's road is a long one... and the man who owns her heart becomes the very person that she cannot live without. But she needs to be whole for him!
I definitely enjoyed this book more than the first one, though rating it was equally as hard. It was a nice read and I can't really complain about anything, but it also didn't wow me. Although there were some sweet and also some heart-rending moments, I didn't connect with the characters and therefore felt like the odd one out.
The story was good; it started where the first book left off and since Kat never fully dealt with what had happened to her, it was just a matter of time when it would all come rushing up on her. Now that Kat’s past caught up with her and she started taking pills again, she struggled with her demons and was falling hard and fast down the rabbit hole. Kat lost herself in her drug abuse and wasn't herself anymore, acted out and only wanted to numb her feelings.
While I understood that she acted a certain way because of the drugs and alcohol, I still didn't like this very rude side of her. I just didn't like her pitying herself and thinking of how Cole couldn't love her broken self. She thought about missing her friends but ran away and hid all the time. Her contradictions annoyed me and her emotional outbursts surprised me since she took the pills to numb them in the first place but it didn't seem to help all that much.
Cole loved Kat but she ignored him and constantly pushed him away. He didn’t know why and what happened to her to act that way but he wasn't giving up so fast, especially because he couldn’t stop thinking about her.
I don't know how I would have acted as her friend but just watching from the sidelines as she wasted away wasn't what I expected. Thank god for Cole and how worried he was about her. I loved that he cared so deeply about her and that he always had her back no matter how awful she was. He also spoiled her rotten because he cared very much about her and wanted her to be and feel safe. That was one of the things I liked most about this book, Cole caring for her, not the spoiling part. He really was a sweetheart. That’s what I call love, standing by someone’s side through the though parts, not only the good ones.
Redemption takes you on a roller coaster ride filled with turns, twists, dips and highs at the Callie Anderson "Amusement Park".
I looked so forward to the conclusion of Katherine and Cole's story, however, I knew going in the beginning of this book was going to gnaw me down to the bone, and it did. Katherine finds herself in a very dark place refusing to ask for help, spiraling further down the proverbial rabbit hole as she does not see herself worthy of Redemption.
The journey is raw, ugly and heartbreaking BUT the end is definitely worth the price of admission. Katherine has love and support from her inner-circle, however, in her quest to distance herself from her friends, Cole, her job, literally everything positive in her life, she discovers their support remains intact even as their concern and worries skyrocket.
Katherine is flawed, deeply so, with inner demons needing to be exorcised. She's come back from temptation before though she never really dealt with the guilt, shame and confusion that came with her backstory. She has to dig deep, deeper than ever before to triumph. Meanwhile, Cole is left confused, hurt and convinced he has found the 'one' and will stop at nothing to help in any way he can. His support along with Lila, Ben and her mother allows her to get the treatment she so desperately needs.
I won't lie, you feel connected to our heroine and you want to kick her in the ass a few dozen times but you never stop feeling. You want her to succeed and find inner peace.
We get our HEA, but only after she learns to forgive herself and acknowledge her feelings and admitting what happened to her mother. Cue the tissues, you will need them.
I enjoyed the conclusion to Katherine and Cole's love story, but this book felt a little disjointed to me. There were a TON of typos and spelling errors - even the name of Cole's law firm was spelled incorrectly, and Katherine's mother's name was first said to be Vera, then a few pages later it was Wendy. I usually don't mind when I see errors in books, but they were so frequent in this one, it was obvious that it needed to be edited a bit.
Back to the story - I thought the story of Katherine's downward spiral was interesting, although it just didn't feel like Katherine and Cole's love story was developed enough to justify Cole sticking with her through it all. I hate to be pessimistic...I also didn't necessarily feel that Katherine's "trigger" at the end of book 1 was strong enough to push her back into addiction. She fell apart in this book, but she conveniently had resources available to her that got her through it -
I guess I want to say that this story felt a bit rushed to me - there are clearly two halves of the book - the spiral and then the picking up of the pieces. It all felt quite fast, while I would have liked to have learned more about what happens between Katherine taking the bar exam and .
I would love to read a book all about Caleb and Lila's love story - I really was intrigued by this couple from Indiscretion, and while I know what happens ultimately, it would be great to read about it in more detail.
Goodness, I have been waiting for Redemption for what seems like forever. After Indiscretion left me with the worst book hangover and a jaw dropping cliff hanger, I couldn't wait to get my hands on this, and finally at last, it is here!! I was super nervous that Redemption wouldn't measure up to Indiscretion, but it freakin' more than doubled it. This duet is not an easy one to partake in, but it was absolutely brilliant. Redemption is so raw and real, that I felt each word written, down to my very soul. I personally felt this book more than the first. The depth that this book took, blew me away. The descriptions were so detailed, down to a T ; it made me feel like I was living it. The power and hope of this book, is one I will never forget. This book flashes like a statement piece. I just can't get it out of my head. Cole's role in this book shocked me, it really did. For such a powerful man, his faith and patience brought me to tears. Catherine was so much stronger than she gave herself credit for. It may have taken her a while to see it, but when she did, it was astounding and inspiring. I am so sad that this duet it over. It was brutal and honest, and so damn real. The story line is very relatable, and you can tell that the author researched a lot of these issues and did not try to wing it. This one has definitely left an imprint on my heart. I can't wait to see what else she comes out with.
I thought things were amping up right at the end of Indiscretion, then Callie Anderson gave me Redemption. Holy intensity! This book took my mind and heart on such a ride and I'm still not sure I landed on my feet.
Goodness me- Kat. What a mess. What a fighter. Her battle was hard to read at times. Painful. But I promise, if you power through it, it will be so worth it. Even at her lowest, her love for Cole couldn't be masked by the pain. And after a good bit of back and forth, she didn't want it to be. Deciding on the future she wanted with him was the kick in the pants she needed to get her act together. I liked that her friends rallied around her and helped lift her up when she couldn't do it herself. And I love that it was Cole who helped lead the charge from the sidelines.
I didn't think it was possible for Cole to have more of a swoon factor but I was way wrong. The way he cared for Kat even when he tried not to. The way he gave her not just what she wanted but needed and deserved as well....total swoon city. And the steam factor didn't waver at all. This was just as steamy, and even a little angry at times, and so so hot!
Hats off to Callie Anderson for not making it easy on Kat and Cole. Addiction isn't easy. It's a battle and Kat was a warrior. And Cole, while he wasn't a saint, he was pretty darn close to it. These two are the proof that anything that is worth having, comes from trials worth withstanding. Love is always worth the fight.
Callie definitely made me one happy woman over the weekend as I got to read the conclusion of Cole and Katherine's love story.
I was sad, heartbroken and devastated for what Katherine was going through. She has resorted to her old ways (minus the sex) and can't seem to pull herself out of that funk. Cole has been trying his damn hardest to get Katherine help and is trying to make her see that he loves her and is there to help her. She is pretty much lost and can't seem to find her way back and doesn't want anyone to help her. Her past is something that has and will continue to haunt her.
Cole has changed his ways for Katherine. No one has ever caught his attention the way she has. She is beautiful, captivating and smart and everything he never expected to have and keep. He will stop at nothing to get his Katherine back.
The supporting characters (Li and Ben) were also magnificent in this duet. Her two best friends who have always stood by her and helped her in every which way they could to get herself back on track.
I absolutely adore this author. Her books always hook me and some slay me to the core. I don't even need to read the synopsis to know that I will be reading her books because that's how much I enjoy her writing!
All I can say is.....YOU NEED TO READ THIS DUET!
5 REDEMPTION STARS
**Received an ARC in exchange for an honest review**
If you haven't read indiscretion then please do as this book directly continues from that.
One pill to return down that slippery slope, two pills to not care, three pills to back to the land of addiction.
Each day she gets more desperate as the claws of her highs grip her mind and soul.
Her pain unbearable her thoughts consuming her. Her highs her freedom.
He feels lost, unsure what went wrong but blind to what's right infront of him.
To understand he needs to see. Only then can he help her.
What a sensational read!! completely and utterly mesmerising! I was enthralled with Katherine and Cole in the first book.
A desire to see her smile, to see them shine bright, to know their story brought me here and I don't regret a second of it.
He's a complete and utter toe curler, a god in and out of the sheets. A master of his world, I bow down to him!
Her memories severed and categorised into before and after, her return to her past self devastating. But she is strong, she is brave and she is a fighter!
Together they make for a powerful couple, both in their personal and professional lives. Magnificent!
I can tell you here and now these two books are.. ARE going to be in my 2019 favourite books of the year list!
WOW! I knew that with the way Indiscretion (YES YOU MUST READ IT FIRST) left me hanging that Redemption wasn't going to be an easy read, but seriously?! The diabolical Callie Anderson tore my heart out before she fixed it, and it wasn't quickly either. I'm not going to even get into details because not willing to give a tiny bit away, but suffice to say, I wore my emotions on my sleeve cover to cover. And I could literally feel the pain radiating out of my kindle from Kat's struggle, and it took my breath away. Not to mention, it wasn't just her pain that I felt, it was everyone around her as well, especially Cole. Then there was the anger I felt, especially at her friends, who couldn't be bothered with her before it all went down, and once you read it, you'll maybe understand what I'm talking about. Hell, I was upset at Cole as well for a while as well. See, I'm telling you, my emotions were all over the spectrum, and that's the mark of a great author, because she brought her characters to life for me, like they were people in my real life, and Kat & Cole will be tattooed on my heart forever. So before I accidentally give anything away, I'm going to end this now, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
There's a beuty behind the dark cloud. The last book in the duet, Redemption is more about Kat facing her demon. At the first half of this book I was gutted. My heart break for Kat. I got depress reading that first part for her struggle just so hard. Seeing her finally hit rock bottom.... Gaaah I just wanna hold her and make sure she knows she is loved. At the end of book one I was wondering will Cole be her saviour. Will Kat be her own saviour. And happy to say, the author give both. But, at the end of Redemption, I kinda wish it would be an epic battle of Kat facing her demon, although in a sence it is, I kinda wish for more. OK I'm being too demanding, I know. I'm that bad reader🤦♀️😂 I actually love the first half of the book better. To see Kat fight for her self. To see her so strong to finally admit she need help. To see her conquer her own demon and survive with her besties behind her. To see her finally see how much Cole love her. That first half was the poison that make me love this author.
Four and five star for Redemption for Kat have all my heart and Cole have all my heart and lust😂dayuum that man just too good for his own good
This is the second book, and conclusion to Indiscretion. WOW! What a rollercoaster of emotions this book took me on.
Kat is at her absolute lowest point at the end of Indiscretion, and when this book picks up, she continues to spiral. She makes bad decisions, distances herself from her friends, and the one man she loves, Cole. They all feel so helpless, and know that until Kat is ready to talk, nothing will get her out of the black hole.
This book is filled with so many emotions. You feel Kat's pain, and you also feel the pain of those who love her.
Cole refuses to give up on her, and he is finally able to get her the help she needs. This story is what love is all about. Cole's love, and her friendships with Lila & Ben helped her get the help she needed, so that the nightmares were put to rest. Her strength through a big portion of this book was amazing.
In the end, karma made it's appearance.
Callie knows how to write characters that pull at your heartstrings and make it impossible to stop reading until the end. Kat & Cole's story was amazing, and I can't wait for readers to fall in love with them.
After that ending in Indiscretion, I wasn't sure what to expect with Redemption. Sure, I knew how I wanted it to go, however didn't know what kind of torture Callie Anderson was going to put these characters through to be together, or if they ever get back together.
"She was beautiful. A broken soul I planned to fix"
Sounds like a recipe for disaster for Katherine's fragile state of being, but man oh man, Cole wasn't going to let this special girl slip through her hands. He liked her because she was different from the rest, which means accepting her past as well.
Katherine has a long road ahead of her, we all know that. The question is, can Cole wait until she reaches some point of end to be with her. Katherine needs to get ahead of the trauma from her past to finally think of any kind of future.
The book was well written, and I read it in a day as I was dying what was going to happen with these crazy kids. Like in book one, we are involved with Cole and Katherine's friends and family just as much, to keep the story moving along. Callie Anderson did a nice job at tying up all loose ends and setting up Theo's book.
Cole Rhodes stole my heart .. This can’t be the end of their love story , I feel like it just started . I need and want more .. sighs... What can I say about this book well first you need to read the first book and then redemption because you will be hooked with these characters and I loved all of them. In redemption you will get to see a side of katherine that isn’t really her and it made me sad but at the same time I wanted to climb inside my kindle and scream at her for what she was doing and help her . Cole was the savior that she needed , the man was everything and when you have a good man who do anything for you in good and in bad times , well hes definitely a keeper .
** Love is only a word until someone gives it meaning.**
If you havent read any of Callie Anderson books you should get on board , she wont disappoint . 😍🙌🏻 #ARC
This is the second part of this awesome duet, and carries straight on from where Indiscretion ended. Kat is spiralling out of control fast, and Cole is at a loss on what is going on. As with all addicts, Kat reaches rock bottom and finally asks her two best friends for help. Cole is so patient and understanding with her. This is a beautifully written story, which is raw, gritty, brutal, relatable, heartbreaking, and emotional, as well as a hauntingly powerful story. This talented author has done an amazing job in writing about such a sensitive subject and what triggers set off the addicts. I cannot wait to read more from this author, and I highly recommend her work for all. Brilliant work Callie!!
Where do I start with this review. I love the conclusion. It was emotional, revealing, heart crushing. Watching the fall and knowing that the bottom had to be reached before the recovery could begin. The love these two had for each other was clear even when she was unable to voice it. His tenderness and care for her even when she didn't allow him close shows his heart. Friends and support are vital and she has good ones. A wonderful ending to the duet. I love this author and the way she breaks it down. Awesome read dealing with addictions, the cause and fallout. Could it have been done in one book?? Not nearly as well as it was done in two.
Indiscretion the first book about these two left you hanging on what was going to happen. This one leads you down the path to an amazing end. I loved this one as much as the first one .Katherine goes through so much in this one. But through it all Cole never gives up on her but is it enough to keep them together? Loved the emotions the fighting everything that Katherine goes through. Shows just how freaking strong she really is. This book was so very well written from beginning to end. It told an amazing story of living and overcoming. Highly recommend reading this one. I absolutely loved Cole and Katherine .
Just a week ago I read Indiscretion and I couldn't wait to start this book, Redemption. This duet of books left me gasping for breath; What starts as a love affair comes crashing down because of a serious case of PTSD due to her experiences at the hand of a stepfather/pedophile. Please take caution if this is a trigger for you. However brutal the story is, it is written with love and beauty. I was completely taken in by how the relationship between Cole and Katherine evolved over the course of these two books.
Redemption by Callie Anderson picks up out on the edge of the cliff that Indescretion left us dangling off! This book is so intense. Kat's journey is such a struggle but she is a fighter. Addiction is a horrible beast. She will break your heart. Oh my goodness, where do I begin to tell you the love I have for Cole. I truly have no words! He will melt your heart and bring you to your knees. The love that Cole and all of Kat's friends have for her is amazing. Callie Anderson writes heartfelt stories about amazing characters. She never disappoints and every story goes above and beyond the last.
ARC provided for an honest review... I have to start out by saying Indescretion was my first read of the year and it was incredible. It'll be on my top reads list at the end of the year, for sure. So I was super stoked for the conclusion of the duet. I loved Cole and Kat as a couple, and Redemption just didn't have enough of that for me. Overall it was a good book, but I feel like it was dragged out just a little too much, and then there was a race to wrap everything up in a neat little bow, the last few chapters.
Wow, what can I say, such a heartbreaking yet riveting story. The heat between Cole and Katherine are undeniable, yet love can never be easy. Katherine's travels thru drug addiction are heartbreaking, so many I real life face the hardships daily as this story details. Thank goodness she had friends that were her support system for years. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that wouldn't be triggered to relive their past.
I seriously loved it! It was very different. The 1st 10 or so chapter focus on her addition & finally getting the help she needed... & through all of that Cole (H) stood by her. I just wish that there would of giving another obstacle in the story like Devon (his ex) getting in the way or parents issues. The author didn’t really got too much into the history of his parents. Both books even though it was good it was all her (Katherine) story.
What a conclusion! I’m even more in love with Cole!! I was up and down feeling so much for all the characters. I loved that they all didn’t give up and fought for what they wanted in life. This book takes your emotions and makes you feel like your in the book. You feel it all and at times I was so frustrated but that’s what makes this book great.
Sometimes there’s certain book you come across that tend to leave an impact on you. Well this one definitely did! Both books were amazing but this one had pain and anxiety that seemed so real . My heart literally went out for Katherine and fell in love with Cole for being so understanding. Such a brilliantly written story! I’m just taken back! Phenomenal!!
Nothing can stop a true love. Redemption was an emotional journey for Katherine and Cole. I have felt empathy and sorrow for Katherine situation. Her struggle was difficult to read... stripped down to the lowest point and losing yourself? Redemption was the way to go.. This wasnt an easy read and emotional roller coaster..
