Disappearing fifteen years ago after the death of her best friend Micah, Elora has returned to Devils Falls a supernatural community hidden deep in the heart of Phoenix. Someone is after her, and they know her habits. Her return to L.A brings her back in contact with Greyson Black, Micah's oldest brother. The dark, commanding, alpha Limikkin wore power like a cloak, and she responded to it. Not like she’d ever admit it.
The last person Greyson expected to sweep back into his life was the woman who had walked away after his brother died. Best friend to his brother, and engaged to a male who would never know her worth, she was the one woman he couldn't have. He wanted her badly, and it nearly consumed him. Someone is after her and she needs his help. Adding to Elora’s situation, someone is killing people in his club and threatening to expose them to humans.
The more time they spend together the more out of control their passion for each other blazes threatening to explode, or tie them together forever. For the first time in his life, he can see a future with one woman and one woman only. He'll do everything in his power to convince her they're meant to be.
A familiar enemy arises threatening Elora's life and everything Greyson holds dear. In order to survive she must trust the one man who has the power to shatter her heart. Is she willing to risk everything for the only man she has ever really loved or will she let a painful past dictate her future?
Warning: Explicit love scenes, naughty language, and overwhelming, sexy as hell, alpha males. Intended for mature audiences.
I love writing books full of erotic heat with fierce, independent, passionate women and the hot alpha males who love them. I get excited about action packed stories full of excitement that shows a couple’s journey, whether it be a personal journey and moving on from the past or falling in love surrounded by danger and adventure. Writing about people overcoming impossible odds and fulfilling themselves and their goals is so important to me, it calls to me. It’s the same thing I love to see in real life and deeply believe in my heart that we can all accomplish.
Most of the time I focus on stories that have a dangerous sometimes dark theme. Most are a mixture of action & adventure, and steamy, hot romance. Overcoming deep seated issues personally and showing how it effects their relationship is what falling in love is all about. The constant theme in all of my books is sexy, scorching hot romance. I guarantee that my stories will leave you hot and bothered, panting for more.
A loud, tattooed workaholic, I love reading and the ocean speaks to my soul. I’m a wine and chocolate lover, who stares dreamily into sunsets and vows to one day live by the ocean surrounded by animals, the countryside and a big family.
Dark Rising is the start of a new vampire series available for Kindle Unlimited readers. It has a fresh outlook on the supernatural and a mystery to solve. Our main character is Elora. She's had a messy relationship history and someone is out to catch her (In a non-romantic way). She is a vampire with a special gift. She can talk to ghosts and luckily she gets a warning before the bad guys turn up. Now Elora needs to find out who they are and what they want. She finds herself getting sucked back into the life she left behind.
Greyson has hidden his feelings from Elora for a long time. She thinks he hates her but the truth is he struggles to resist her. His brother Micah was her best friend and he watched her date the wrong guy. He now finds her on his doorstep in need of some information linking Greyson to murders. The pair must work together to get some answers and this time Greyson isn't going to let her slip away.
This was different and I enjoyed it. It has some steamy scenes and a refreshing storyline. It's the start of a series and does leave the door open. 4.5 stars out of 5.

I'm really surprised by this book...
It was more than I expected and since I went in semi-blind (lol, yeah I ve read the blurb) it still impacted me in a way I did not expect!
It had action, thrill, sexy heat, demanding alpha and feisty heroine that could hold her own...
And even though the storyline and the characters are placed into the world of fantasy evoking the vampyre myths as a background for various sorts and creatures to make their appearance...it's basically a strong story of finding the love and the 'one' inspite the hurt and betrayal experienced in the past.
It's a love story beyond the generalization of 'all men are alike' and 'could not committ to one woman' that the heroine is stressing over and one strong alpha who fights with all he's got to prove her wrong....
In the heat of danger, life threatning situations, two people will find the way to free their hearts and accept their destiny in the heat of carnal desires...only to be faced with devastating darkness looming to ruin them all...
And the next installment seems to be expected too....lol
Note: this would have been a full blown 5 star rating if the secondary cast, that actually turned out to be a very important segment for the unravelling of the plot, was better and deeper portrayed with more background and more detailed connection to the main characters other than just stating the facts.
And I usually dont really give too much attention to the book covers...I mean, I either take notice if it's exceptionally stunning and therefore, inevitable NOT to take notice or I just go over it...but here, I think that the cover is a bit misleading...lol (even though I wouldn't mind some MM action, otherwise myself, just sayin *wink*) BUT since this book is purely based on M/F relations, I would, in fact, encourage for a change in distinguishing the male and female participants more clearly thus avoiding confusion of what this book is centered on.
I wanted to give this a higher rating as the story had promise and the side characters were interesting. However, the writing and editing need serious help and the heroine is beyond annoying. I don't understand how an editor can miss the incorrect and overabundant use of commas and adjctives, the incomplete sentences or the repetition of words.
For example, in one paragraph on page 2 the words her and she are used 11 times.. in one paragraph! On page 6 there is an incomplete sentence: "The swords were crafted with the most exquisite care, an intricate design of glyphs identifying her as a." That's it?! As a what?! And page 69 ends with this sentence: "She'd always been a sucker for rough hands because they would feel amazing when he ex." Ex, what???? On page 126 a piece of furniture is described as "a large, white, fluffy, and comfortable corner sectional couch." That's a lot of unnecessary adjectives. On page 181, the heroine had an orgasm that triggered the hero's. But, it was described like this: "Her squirting triggered his orgasm." That could've been done better. These are just a few of the many examples of this book's need of editing and writing help.
And the heroine. She's supposed to be this centuries old Warrior but she is often scared and unable to handle situations she's supposedly trained for. She's whiny, supremely insecure, and judges all men the same: as lying cheaters. Ok, she was hurt and is scared but, at some point in the last 15 years, one would think she'd have dealt with some of the pain. Obviously not. She is constantly throwing her assessment of all men at the hero who is beyond patient with her as he tries to prove what she means to him in many, many ways.
There are also a few inconsistencies: on the back cover the town is Devils Falls but is Devil Falls in the book; also on the back cover it says they are in Phoenix but then says they are in L. A.; and there are times when the heroine mentions how she is centuries old but then says that with her people, her hundred years is considered as being nothing more than a baby.
If this book gets the necessary work, it has potential.
This one started out okay and really has potential, but I had a hard time with the book after a few chapters. The editing is awful. I thought it would get better after the first couple of chapters but it didn’t. At one point I was confused on who was who because the names were wrong. I think if the book had been edited better I would have enjoyed it more.
Editing errors (see notes and highlights), immature characters, dialog that is odd, a massive info dump for 20 + pages, and a heroine that’s just plain unlikable. Needs much work.
Welcome to the Paranormal World in Phoenix. A Mecca for all things supernatural. Elora left this place a long time ago to lick her wounds and separate herself from the community and friends that kept her ex fiancé’s secrets hidden and left her dejected after she discovered the truth. Elora is a warrior.
She also thinks that the best way to live her life is in isolation. But two murders have her back in the Phoenix and at the door of Gabriel, her former fiancé. She’s not happy to be back, but is tasked with investigating the murders of to women by questioning her late best friend’s brother, Greyson. What happens from there is a reunion Elora couldn’t have expected or even imagined.
Dark Rising is unlike anything I have read before in a supernatural world. It is most definitely a fascinating society. Elora is not only a warrior, she is a Thasophilian. Pretty much like a vampyre but Elora makes a distinction between the two. While both feed on blood, Elora makes the distinction by explaining that vampyre is “collective name for all rogues, no matter their species. These rogues had chosen to hold no regard for life, innocence, or peace. They craved destruction, chaos, and fear.” This is something Elora is not, and works to protect the innocent from such depraved beings.
The world building is very intricate and explains how complex this supernatural society truly is. But the real meat of the story is why Elora left and stayed away from Phoenix. And more importantly why her fear/insecurity about Greyson, and if he will allow her to question him about the murders. Greyson is connected to both victims and is a hard person to track. But when it comes to Elora, he is glad to be found. Their present investigation and teamwork, to track the murderer, will force them to confront whatever issues they had in the past and address their physical attraction to one another.
This is an exciting steamy read that sets up an unlikely hawt mating and a string of murders that hits closer to home than what Elora would like to believe. Can’t wait for what’s in store for us in Book Two!
What a new and interesting world of paranormal characters we have from M.A.! Elora has been gone for over 15 years. She disappeared after the death of her best friend, Micah. She returns home after being discovered and almost captured. Her return reconnects her with Micah’s oldest brother Greyson and WOW WOW WOW do the fireworks start right away. She is drawn to this alpha man like no other but is scared after thinking she almost mated to Gabriel and he cheated on her several times. Greyson and Elora work together to find out what is happening in their town. These 2 really like up the pages. One reason I love this type of book is because my favorite type of paranormal book has to do with "mates". I just love it when there is this force that tells you that other person is your other half and you can't live without time and everything is better with them. Elora is a strong warrior but Greyson will be there to protect her with his life because he knows she is his mate. OMG when he tells her how he felt after she left…almost broke my heart. I cannot wait for more from M.A.!
A brand new twist on the paranormal genre. I really liked this book the author gives us a complete new view on the paranormal, I loved the idea of the Thasophilians, Limikkins and Vampyers. The author writes in a way that draws you into the story and the characters are not only interesting but pretty hot too. This book is about Elora and Greyson, Elora returns to Sanctum because her life is in dangers after years of being away. As soon as she sees her best friends brother Greyson again sparks begin to fly, and the chemistry between them is electric but Elora has trust issues because of a past relationship that hurt her badly. Her and Greyson are forced to work together to solve a string of murders and the more the two are together the closer they become. Greyson has to prove to Elora that she can trust him with her heart and Elora has to fight her instincts to distrust Greyson because of her past. There are some awesome plot twists in this book and I already can't wait for the next one to come out. I loved Greyson and Elora's story and the end of the book will only leave you wanting more.
Elora left Sanctum 15 years ago after the death of her best friend Micah however she knows with the danger that is getting ever closer for her protection she needs to return.
Greyson was her best friend’s brother. From the moment they see each other again the chemistry between them is electric. When they work together to investigate the mysterious things that are happening they become close but will Greyson be able to show her that they belong together and that he can be trusted unlike others in her past.
This is an interesting and unique work that has been created by this author. This story takes you on an adventure full of twists, action and red hot romance. This is my first book by this author, but I would definitely read her future books. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Dark Rising is a new series filled with vampires, demons, angels and shifters of many kinds. This is a new author to me and I never know what to expect when you start with someone new. I can honestly say that I am so happy that I stumbled upon this one. The story itself was so intriguing I couldn't put the book down. The characters and the stories of their pasts and where they are going in the future just sucks you right in leaving you wanting more. I absolutely love El and Grey. I am so looking forward to see where they go from here as well as Alex, Xi and Micah.. If you are looking for a new paranormal book to read, I would suggest this one.
This was such an awesome Paranormal book to read!! This is my first book of M.A and I hope there is still much more to come. Her characters Gabriel and Elora are stubborn and at the same time they are just trying to make sense of their feelings for one another. This book is Hot and Steamy in all the right ways! There is suspense, Love, Anger and so much more throughout the book and it just makes it so much easier to get caught in the middle of all of it! I love the way this author writes and builds up the curiosity trough each chapter that you just keep on turning the pages to find out what will happen next!!!
This is my first time reading MAG and OMG it won't be my last! I loved it from start to finish. While being introduce to this new world you meet Greyson and Elora, who are hot, sexy, funny and try to fight their destiny to each other. The other family members and friends are awesome too and I can't wait to read more about them! This is not a cliff-hanger book but there will be more books in this series so you get excited to see who will be next to learn more about. I highly recommend this book. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
This is a great read. Elora's return to town stirs up a lot of feelings for Greyson. He is determined to keep her around this time around. He will keep her safe from the danger that surrounds her.
It is a well written book. I very much enjoyed the story and the characters. There is a real connection between Elora and Greyson. I loved how protective her was of her and his determination to keep his mate. The action and romance is balanced well and it keeps the story fast paced.
Brilliant read, I absolutely loved it! Elora's a badass warrior. Totally capable. With loads of mad skills and talents, which we find out as the story goes on. But she had a problem with a man. A cheating man. A man who broke her heart. Years later she has to return to Devils Falls, the place she left behind and never wanted to return to. When shock upon shock is what greets her, she goes seeking answers. And turns to the man who didn't like her, for help. And then the plot thickens!!! Great characters and plot. I look forward to reading more from M A Gonzales.
I enjoyed reading Dark Rising. The world building was very interesting, and I really loved the two main characters and their personalities. The love scenes are highly erotic and emotional which are my favorite kind. If you enjoy dark paranormal erotic romance, then you do not want to miss Dark Rising by M.A. Gonzales! Elora, a retired warrior, and Greyson, a club owner, have a rocky past and are forced to interact on a new threat. As the story progresses new information comes to light, the past hurts the present, and only if the truth comes out will they be able to move forward. Maria Gonzales has woven a suspenseful paranormal romance tale with plenty of room to grow. I can honestly say that there were some pretty nice plot twists that I didn’t see coming and left me wanting to see where she will go next.
DNF, I couldn't feel any emotional between the characters just a sexual one. Which is fine, but I was hoping for something more than erotica given the fantastic premise.
*Spoiler*
I also didn't like the main characters indecision to have sex with him without having a good reason. Like girl you're horny he's horny get some. I also didn't like how the author kept hinting at how she's this bad ass warrior yet I didn't really see any examples of her being one and I read up to 61% of the book lol...
I did not finish this book because the spelling mistakes were more than I could tolerate, and the main character was very annoying. She was cheated on by her ex, so she has some major trust issues but she’s just way too bitter about it. She bring it up over and over again. This book needs major editing. There are letters missing from words, like all instead of call. And letters added to words like her instead of he, or he instead of she. It made the book very difficult to read because it was hard to figure out what was going on
For me it started a little slow, but it soon picked up and I found it hard to put it down. The main characters were great and I felt I could connect with them. I found the sexy scenes very sexy and left me wanting more. The storyline itself pulled me in and I felt like I was apart of the story so a great read. I will be looking forward to the second in the series. I would definitely recommend this book to my book world friends. Thank you M.A.Gonzales
I was absolutely enthralled reading this first installment of the Dark Tide Chronicles! Getting to know Greyson and Elora individually kept me completely entertained, and as the story went along, I was more and more hooked on their interactions with each other. Incredibly hot and sexy, with a whole lot of feels mixed in, to boot. It ended with a happily ever after for Grey and El, but it was definitely a cliffhanger. I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next.
This was a captivating read I quickly got pulled into and didn't want to come out of. Elora had me smh several times. Both Grey and Elora were gun shy due to past experiences, but the draw to be together was too much to deny. I greatly enjoyed my time spent in this fantasy plane the author created. Danger is not over as the past comes back with a vengeance as the end of the story eludes to. More dark adventures to come.
Really enjoyed the storyline here although the female lead really needs to learn to trust what her other half says rather than judging him based on her ex. The premise of the book was really interesting and the world building wasn't too in your face info-dumping. This could really develop into a fantastic series if it keeps going the same way.
Elora is a Thasophilian. A vampire to you and me. She left her home 15 years ago after the death of her best friend, but now someone wants her dead. She returns home and reconnects with Greyson, her best friends brother. The chemistry between Elora & Grey is off the charts and makes for a great read.
This book is a really good start to a new series. Once I started reading i couldn't stop. Elora is called back into a life she thought she left behind. When two Necros are sent after her she must go back and face her past. Nothing is as she thought it was. This book is full of different paranormal breeds. I loved the story and can't wait for the next installment
A really interesting story, great characters and super sexy. Elora is a strong woman but has met her match with Greyson. He is very alpha, sexy and what she has always wanted. The unexpected happens and will leave you biting your nails waiting for the next book!
Dark Rising is a fantastic read that sucks you in from the beginning, its got humour, suspense, and some pretty steamy moments, and amazing characters. Its new a different twist on paranormal, and I absolutely adore it. I highly recommend Dark Rising, and cannot wait for the next one.
Dark Rising was a fantastic read with a great storyline, amazing characters, and kept me completely enthralled. It had everything that I love in a great story, action, suspense, love, and lots of steamy romance. I highly recommend this book. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
I really enjoyed this book. Wonderful storyline. Well written.. The book closed so well that you never got bored as a matter of fact you hate to see it end. You will not regret reading this one.
