Overall this was a good read. Camden and Jenna had both been through a lot. Unfortunately for Jenna things didn't stop until the end. So, it was good that they met. They both needed some to be there even though they themselves had some issues. The good news is that after everything they went through they got their HEA.

Deep in the Heart (ARC) by Alexa Padgett: ***** A sweet, heartfelt, messy, emotional story
I just finished this book, Five stars all the way! Written with sensitivity, raw emotion, depth, and realism. Life is messy, and emotions are real — I think the author captured that in this book.... where bad things happen to good people, and the fallout/regrets haunt. Pain and fear, and learning to cope with PTSD/panic situations. It changes everything, but both Cam and Jenna find a way together

The first book in the newest series leaves me wanting more. Jenna is scared to trust, Cam has issues of his own, then throw in Pop Pop and you’ve got the beginnings of an interesting storyline. Alexa Padgett not only writes a great story, she writes a story that makes you want more!

It’s not often that a book I’ve finished reading wakes me in the middle of the night, and its even more rare that one shoves me out of bed in order to capture my thoughts. Never, in the hundreds of books I’ve reviewed, have I ever had a Camden Grace whisper to me, “You have to make readers understand that Jenna has been knocked down dozens of times but she still gets back up – Every. Single. Time,” or a Jenna Olsen insist, “They need to know how indomitable, courageous and strong Cam is, and how ...more

I love the real world problems you included into this book. PTSD, panic, anxiety are real and millions suffer from them everyday. Thank you for including them, and how to deal with them in your book.

What happens when two damaged people find each other? Magic! This story was full of drama from all angles and and tons of heart. Jenna and Pop-pop’s relationship was too cute. I loved the sparks between Cam and Jenna. A great first book to a series full of passion, drama, leave, family, and learning to trust. Can’t wait for the next one!

Quality writing. A story that emotes realism: angst, joy, sorry, pain, fear, love …. a whole gamut of emotions exceedingly well. Ms. Padgett takes the reader on a journey with characters going through painful, traumatic experiences, through to the joyful exuberance of romance. There certainly are gritty parts to this tale but they only showcase the realities of living in our world today. As unfortunate as these circumstances are, this reader learned a lot about the depth of pain that sometimes i ...more

2 broken, damaged souls find each other and fall in love. A tried and true trope to be sure, but the author really makes it work!

Jenna is a world famous guitar craftsperson. Her skills at handcrafting guitars in her Pop-pop's shop have made the entire industry love her. But, she doesn't live in that fame, no, she hides from it. Because she's got a past that's entrenched her in demon-making introversion. And then Cam walks into her shop. Another broken soul, just like her. And he relieves her of

Jenna a beautiful but broken young woman has wicked guitar making skills. She oozes talent but due to past trauma is very nervous and introverted. She makes beautiful instruments in her Pop-Pop’s shop, world famous.
Cam is a hunky war-vet country musician with issues of his own. He often doesn’t play nice with others and has a short fuse. The nightmares and flashbacks don’t help. Underneath is a kindhearted, gifted soul who just needs to

At least 5 stars for all the drama. This book was so good. So much happens in it. I couldn't put it down. Jenna was a guitar maker with the grandfather and Cam was a rock star that needed a guitar. Both were broken souls but together they made it better. This story went from one event to another, but it was so worth it. Great story I got this book from Hidden gems for an honest review

Alexa Padgett is such a talented writer! So much happens in such a short time but it’s all so brilliantly written. Jenna & Camden are such messed up yet very relatable characters who face the world as best as they can. So much emotion in their story, loved every word. Recommend to all
Whew! With a final turn of the page in this emotionally intense tale of two people with painful pasts finding solace in each other’s arms, I’m left drained. From the first page to the last there’s one emotional speed bump after another as this main couple tends to jump to quick conclusions, generally assumes the worst, and in the case of the heroine there’s moments where she lacked maturity. It all makes for a story full of high highs and low lows as these two people were clearly damaged and lee ...more

Jenna is a young woman who has had a lot to deal with in her life, and has found her place working for her grandfather and Cam, an up and coming country star with a past in the "sandbox" that left him with an injury...that only seemed to bother him when it was a good place for it in the plot.

There's a difference in a character that faces adversity and a character who faces it because they are out of plot and the romantic connection isn't strong so

I'm not really sure where to start off. So I will start with this. This is my first book by Alexa Padgett. It was quite an interesting read. While the writing was good, there was so much going on all at once, it was so hard to keep up. It was like, plot on top of plot, drama after drama. Personally it was too much for me.

The characters were just okay to me, they were more annoying than not. I feel like the Hero was childish in the way he acted, and was one to make decisions off of not knowing t

Ok, I just went on a mini-Alexa Padgett binge read. First up was a re-reading of Hold You Close, the most recent of her wonderful Seattle Sound series (it’s Book 3). This installment of Mila and Murphy’s Rockstar Romance was as much of an emotional roller-coaster as ever with true suspense and stalker-terror to complement the “basic” (superb already) “Bad Boy” romance. Once finished I simply had to have mor, and since there are no more books ready yet in the series I turned to the author’s Deep ...more

I really don't know how to start this review. I actually wrote notes all over the place about this book because at first I really didn't like it but the more I read I started to like it then half way through I loved it. I had mixed feelings about this story because it is about a couple that is broken in more ways than one and they really were very different. I mean they both have a rough background but Camden has PTSD from being in the war on Iraq and his unresolved family issues and Jenna comes ...more

Deep in the Heart is a story about Jenna, who creates famous guitars, and Cam, who is a veteran and famous Country Music Star. They both are suffering from PTSD and the author did a great job showing how people other than vets suffer from PTSD. She did show how people suffering from PTSD find coping techniques to help them survive the day to day events.

What I enjoyed is that the story was a quick read that pulls the reader in and holds your attention. The characters are believable and not like o
I received this book for my honest review. In "Deep in the Heart" by Alexa Padgett, you meet the character Jenna Olsen. Jenna had some terrible choices in love all growing up and being a skilled guitar craft-person helped her anxiety. The only thing is in a man asked her to make a custom guitar in a horrible time-frame. The problem is Jenna also falls in love with the man. Camden Grace is the man who loves his music and fans. He has his own wounds that he suffered from Iraq both physical and emo ...more

This is the first book I have read from Alexa though and it has made me want to read more of her. I couldn't put this one down I had to finish it. Jenna and Cam are two very damaged people who meet each other when music star Cam goes to the workshop owned by Jenna's Grandfather to order one of his special hand crafted guitars. Jenna is amazingly talented herself and Cam commissions her to make his guitar. However there is more than the instrument between them, there is instant attraction though ...more

I really loved this story.
From the beginning we realized that Jenna is a fragile girl, because of some traumatic events in her life. She then returned home to work with her grandfather, who is a wonderful character in this story, and has become one of the best guitar craftsperson.
When country star Camdem Grace appears in her store and orders a guitar in a relatively short time, Jenna accepts the challenge but ends up giving her heart to him as well.

This one turned into a mix with the characters leading the way to pushing my curiosity that turned into intrigued. Jenna has a craft that truly is a craft losing ground with whom can do it. When pride is picked at by Camden pushing her buttons it is on with you stuck like glue to these two. As they grow so does relationship filled with the drama to pull you to the edge. Deep in the Heart is the first book that I've read by Alexa Padgett and I absolutely loved it!

I loved Jenna's little sayings that she would spout with her inner monologue. After being shoved into the spotlight for being a survivor, she wants nothing more than to work to her heart's content on making guitars.

When a country music star comes into her shop to request a new custom guitar, she never expects him to become something more than a customer.

Camden Grace is a beautiful alpha mixture of a wa

I love starting out the new year with a new book series. This time it's the new Austin After Dark series by Alexa Padgett titled Deep in the Heart. This series begins with Jenna, a small town girl with a talent for making custom guitars and a big time case of PTSD that keeps her close to her shop. When Ben, an old boyfriend, comes in making an unwelcome advance and some nasty accusations, Jenna is rescued by a stranger with a story of his own. I enjoyed reading this entertaining book and like the writing style from Alexa Padgett.

The characters are well-developed, and You just love them. It's interesting to see
how these two overcome their fear of commitment, which is to blame to their
families. It's worth the risk to stop their old life and be open to each other.
They must deal with a little bit of struggling, some twists and crime. I love the
sizzling hot chemistry between Jenna and Cam (btw where can I find my Cam? 😉).
