I have a story in this anthology, but I would praise it even if I didn't. The collection from emerging voices offers high-quality writing across the spectrum of genres: fantasy, sci-fi, horror, contemporary realism, romance, memoir ...

The Year of Publishing Women has released a wide variety of great novels and short stories into the world, but it has been about so much more than that: it has brought together authors to learn from and support each other, and to amplify each other's voices. It is

There are those who say that short stories are a dying art form. This anthology disputes that claim admirably. Strongly Worded Women", displays the work of female writers with a strong command of their writing craft, and takes in a broad sweep of styles and genres: From Maren Bradley's profane, edgy tale of a young man revisiting the scene of his adolescent rebellions in, "Getting Pregnant on the Back of a Motorcycle"; to Lizzy Carney's sublime, poetic elegy to a dying mother in , "Mother Nature ...more

The stories in this anthology alternate from hilarious to heart-wrenching to haunting, but they are always high quality and show just how great these talented writers are!

Presenting a years’ worth of stories by women, from everyday to scary to hauntingly beautiful, Strongly Worded Women is an anthology with something for everyone. Each story is illustrated intriguingly on the cover, the lion matching a fantasy tale... the violin... the airplane—matching story and picture becomes part of the fun of reading. In these tales, the "old ways" might fail or win, the zombies might be an apocalypse, and the tattooed woman might sing.

Yes, I am the editor, and yes, I am biased, but each of these stories is truly gripping and beautiful. You should trust me, because that’s why I selected them. This anthology showcases the strength and power that women possess, and I am so honored to have been in charge of this project.

This anthology is the conclusion of Not a Pipe Publishing’s Year of Publishing Women. We published eight books by seven author, and we also published short stories once a week on our website. We had many great su

My mother was a woman of grit and grace. She loved to read and pitied those without an imagination. “Mother Nature Mother Nurture” is our story. Being a part of the anthology “Strongly Worded Women,” surrounded by the imaginative stories written by women is an honor for me as a writer and daughter. Mom made me promise to continue writing and explore to find the words that express my creative self. All of the stories included have a creative and visionary voice from a woman’s perspective. These w ...more

Mother Nature...Mother Nurture by Lizzy Carney was the first story I read from this anthology. It is a real gem; short and meaningful with its beautiful descriptions and loving understanding.
I appreciated Jean Harkin's story titled, The Faces of Change.

I've finished Pack Mentality, Sydney Culpepper, Well Done!

I submitted my story to the anthology only after reading the stories posted to the blog, some of which I knew would be part of the anthology. They so engaged and wowed me, I had to submit my own. I'm very excited it became part of this impressive collection. In the way that enlivens, these stories are haunting.

This collection of short fiction, thoughtfully curated by editor Sydney Culpepper of Not A Pipe Publishing succeeds in highlighting a diverse chorus of female voices in stories from every genre. The publisher’s goal is to promote stories by women--but that does not mean these stories are only for women. The subjects of this anthology run the gamut from A (anxiety disorders) to Z (zombies). There were fictional worlds where I wanted to crawl inside the story and follow the characters wherever the ...more
