What would you sacrifice for the pursuit of justice?

Washington D.C., October 2027

Amateur Detective Lara Kingsley must sacrifice everything to stop a rogue scientist from unleashing the ultimate biological weapon--a deadly swarm of bionic bugs.

When Lara starts up her business to install surveillance systems for wealthy clients, she never imagines having to solve any grisly murders. That is, until her best friend and fellow private investigator drops dead before her eyes.

Lara begins a harrowing search for her friend's killer and uncovers far more than she bargains for. Racing to unravel the mystery, she finds herself becoming deeply entangled in a new technological world of drones, gene editing, and the Dark Web--the notorious underground of the Internet.

To solve the murder, she must enlist the help of the scientist himself while trying to stop him from killing thousands of innocent people.

From long-time national security expert, Natasha Bajema, comes an action-packed mystery novel, the first in a series that uniquely weaves together elements of mystery, techno-thriller, and speculative fiction.

A book written by actual National Security advisor Natasha Bajema, "Bionic Bug" is a page-turner from first page to the last. There is no predictability with Lara and her vowed promise to find out who killed her friend or why. The real surprise is what happens at the end, and you have to read to find out!

Lara Kingsley once worked for the government as a special operator, even serving 2 terms in Afghanistan before being honorably discharged from service. Now she is the owner of a private detective agency and life keeps her busy.

A longtime colleague and friend dies in front of her, suddenly, foaming at the mouth and uttering strange words.

This techno-thriller involving the government, set in the not too distant future, features an amateur sleuth fighting an unknown enemy with advanced tech on their side, and time is running out!

Lara Kingsley is determined to find her friend's killer, even if it means facing her greatest fear: insects.
Set ten-ish years in the future, Bajema looks at how emerging technologies could be used for better or worse, all while keeping the reader turning pages. Fast paced, with plenty of twists to keep you wondering.

I did find the final third of the book to drag a bit, and a couple characters felt a little inconsistent. I felt that Lara spent far too much time mooning over her ex-boyfriend.

In all, a great book and I can't wait to read the next one.

I met Natasha at a writer's conference. Aside from being a really cool person with one hell of a backstory, she quickly sold me on this series and Bionic Bug did not disappoint. I devoured it. The way she writes and the knowledge she clearly has about the topics in the book are fantastic. I feel like I could be friends with Lara, Maggie, Sanchez, and Rob.
I’ve even shelved my TBR in order to read book two and my TBR has some highly anticipated reads in it. I definitely recommend this series!

A very interesting book about the potential use of bio-electronic technology for murder and mayhem. It takes place five years in the future (from now), but the controlled beetles used as drones has already been developed by US government agencies. There are some technical holes, in my estimation, but all in all it is a great read.

A page turner

Quite well written! The technology and story kept me turning the pages. I thought it was a couple different people who could have killed Sully, so was a little surprised at the end! Read it, it's awesome!
