It is time for friendship + cake! Also being honest.

I was so excited when the library FINALLY had a new book in this series in their collection (and in English even). It has been a while since they added a new book in the series and I have been seeing new books pop up on the twitter of the author.

In this one we have a fun contest in which our kids can win tickets to the finale for a baking show that is all the rage. Well, if you have a tv. Poor Isadora whose parents just don’t understand you

Isadora Moon is "half vampire, half fairy, totally unique." This is the second book in the series I have read but there are many others. No prior knowledge of the others is required.

First thing to say is that the other book in the series I read was hardback with silver gilt edges to the pages whereas this one is paperback with no hardback currently available. As far as first impressions go the hardcover with the silver-edged pages is better. But this still has a good cover which is typical of

The 9th in Harriet Muncaster’s self-illustrated fantasy series for children aged 6+ is a decidedly pink and sparkly affair about friendship and what to do if you think that your friend wants you to do something wrong. It’s a very girly book but that’s no bad thing and I think that there’s plenty here for children to relate to – and I did like the magically alive monkey and pink rabbit.

These little books are so cute! Not only are the drawings fun but the stories always have a lesson. I think children will love them (and so do I)!

Violet and I both love all the Isadora Moon books. This latest one is another fantastic example of how Harriet Muncaster manages to balance an imaginative magical world with perfectly-pitched-for-this-age-group real-life kid issues like worrying about a first sleepover experience and navigating how to follow your conscience when it means disagreeing with your best friend. And as always, the illustrations are engaging and perfectly detailed.

Harriet Muncaster studied illustration at Norwich University College of the Arts before going on to get an MA in children’s book illustration at the Cambridge School of Art. In creating the art for her first book for children, she was thrilled to have found a good outlet for her lifelong fascination with miniatures. She lives in Hertfordshire, England.
