So the series arc (of carvallius and latarian's resurrection/ the missing necro elders) didn't see much advancement in this one, but the love story between Idris and Mac was classic D'Vaire. I'm glad that we're getting a fresh infusion of new blood into the "on-deck for future novels" bench. Another thing I love about this series that is not often found in fantasy is that the names, while exotic, are never needlessly complicated to pronounce. Some fantasy authors go crazy with their naming conve ...more

Amazingly Original, SO Happy I Found It!

The first book was one that kept popping up in my KU suggestions.. For some reason I kept ignoring it, until I didn't. Once I started reading, I couldn't put my Kindle down and forgot all my other choices until I read this series thru to this book. The world this author has created, imo, is truly amazing! The diversity and complexity of the characters alone! I can't pick a favorite because I love them all. First, I'm not one to retell the story in a review

Idris has hoped for his mate for most of his life and makes a wish to Fate with a list of suggestions for his mate. That was so cute and funny. He came to D'Vaire after a childhood of neglect when Latarian found him and used him. Now, he's one of the most powerful wizards around and he is only 21.

Mac comes to D'Vaire at the suggestion of his grandparents to leave the court he is at due to the king's total disregard of him. At D'Vaire, he finds his lap full of an adorable dragon and meets his ma

Awesome story! Love this series!

Both of our leading men in this story had a rough time with their birth parents and were raised by grandparents. While Mac’s grandparents were wonderful and a positive influence on his life, despite his own mother’s new mate’s dislike of him from the beginning, Idris was raised by a mean old grandfather, forced to care for him and not learning anything about his magic, like he should have if he had gone to regular schooling for wizards. Fate answered both their pr

Back on track

Ok we're back in track with this one... I loved Idris and Mac... I liked how we got to see into Idris's past as well... I liked the introduction of Carter as well... What I am confused if is the attitude of Duff.... Why have him flip the script like that.... I'm confused.... Also why make Derwin a jerk as well.. What's up with that....hopefully the author will do some explaining it something... I'd rather have a real enemy to dislike than one of the Dvairs..Off to book 10

What a great book! It gives more insight as to how the wizards advanced and Immortalis. I was elated about Mac & his grandfather, and really disheartened at Lloyd’s death. Yet, Mac had Irdis and Idris also had some issues to work though as they supported each other for the biggest steps in their lives. And the cliffhanger at the end? I am moving on to the next book 📖

OMG these books just keep getting better! I can't stop talking about these books with all my friends. The world building is fantastic, completely original and absolutely engaging. One of the MCs of this book is one we met many books ago, so there were some high expectations for his story, and it did not disappoint! I truly wish these books had more visibility because they're incredible! I'm a D'Vaire fan for life! Can't wait to read the next one!

OMG I'm obsessed

I can't believe how good these books are. The world keeps expanding and more characters to love are being added. I adore not having to completely say goodbye to anyone because we keep seeing the major players book to book.

I really liked this book. I loved both Idris and Mac. I thought they were wonderful together and I loved that they didn’t have all the angst that was associated with the other matings. All of the conflict came from outside sources which I liked. I also loved Idris's familiar Roger and how he attached himself to Mac.

The only thing that dragged the story down was Duff. I didn’t understand his actions. He made a complete about face and there was no explanation given for it. I’m hopi
