Do not consult this book for research or guidance. It contains outdated information about plants. Many native plants essential to the survival of our ecosystem are labelled as pests for the simple reason that they spread rapidly. Let's discontinue the use of the colonial labels and use either the Latin based botanical names, the names given by the Indigenous peoples, or more flattering and descriptive names such as Butterfly Flower for the maligned milkweed (Asclepias). Using herbicides will sterilize our soil and destroy the complex web of beings that live on and in the Earth.

Because sometimes the plant you want to know about isn't on anybody's list of useful plants. Sometimes the plant is obscure or not well known, but it is still fun to know its name. I just like to be able to look them up and say "oh, so that's what it is."
