I had it all. The Super Bowl rings. The hot shot TV gig.
Then I got fired.
Now I’m living in middle-of-nowhere Maine, playing assistant coach to the woman of my nightmares.
Did I mention that she and her son are my new neighbors?
If you talk to the locals, they’ll tell you Aspen Levi is the queen of high school football. But if you ask me, my new head coach is a pain in my left nut sac.
She’s too blonde. Too peppy. And way too sexy for my peace of mind.
Only, one minute we’re fighting, and the next I can’t keep my hands off her. One hot kiss. One forbidden touch. I don’t do love but . . .
What I want, I take, and what I want is Aspen Levi.
Kiss Me Tonight is the second book in the highly anticipated series, Put A Ring On It. It is scheduled to release in May 2019 and can be read as a standalone.

Ok so first off let me start off by saying Maria wrote this book so I knew I was going to like *who am I kidding, I knew I would love it, no pressure or anything* But holy crap let me tell you see DID NOT disappoint. I laughed, swooned, and out right cheered/fist pumped at a few scenes.
I've been dying for Dom to get a story since Body Check, then getting to know him more in Hold Me Today... Aspen was the perfect ying to his yang.
Aspen and I are going to be best friends *don't even try to convince me she is fictional I can't hear you* Me, Aspen, and Mina from HMT we're going for beer. Aspen is HILARIOUS and a total bad*ss.
The banter between Aspen and Dom made me want to sit back with a bowl of popcorn and see what would happen next. And the slow burn was spot on just like Maria is known to specialize in.
But you also get heart with this book, with both character's backstories and the struggles they overcome.
I picked this book up because I loved the cover (don't judge, lol). It's one of the sexiest I've seen and it really draws your eye in. On top of that, I had a friend of mine (who read it early) say it was incredible!!! And you know what?! She's so right. I was blown away. This book's refreshing and fun, sexy and sassy, and it has so much heart. Maria Luis is a talented writer and I LOVE how she infuses passion and emotion into every scene. I was so invested in these characters and I never, not for a second, wanted to put this book down. It's charming and so so so heartwarming, and I can't see anyone not absolutely loving it.
Dominic (our hero) and Aspen (our leading lady) charm you. Their meet cute is one of the BEST I have ever read. I seriously DIED over their first meeting. I mean, I shoved my face into a pillow and cackled!!!!!
FREAKING CACKLED!
Aspen is sooooooooooooo hilarious! And that scene is part mortifying, part endearing, and altogether cute. That woman destroys you (in the best way). And from the moment you meet her (Aspen), and she meets Dominic, you're a total goner. Dom, a super-alpha-male with this gorgeous body and smart mouth, and Aspen, a strong woman with a sharp wit, are spicy and fun and they steal your heart!!! I couldn't get enough!
With Aspen home in Maine after divorcing her husband of 14 years, she's needs a fresh start. Now the football coach at the local high-school, she's looking for peace, happiness. Dominic an Ex-Superbowl Champion, with a reputation of being an asshole, is in need of a "life" timeout. After a stint on a reality show that went bad, he was caught in a scandal and fired from his Sports 24/7 telecaster job, which is why he's in Maine.
Dom and Aspen work together. Dom is her assistant coach, and that power dynamic was the actual best. These two are FIREEEEEEE! They are so hot. The chemistry, the swoon, the banter, OMG! It's so good, too good. To say I was IN THIS STORY would be an understatement. I couldn't get enough of that slowburn and all those juicy feels. Dom, our broken hero, really needs Aspen to push him into feeling all the things. And it's magic.
Overall, this love story was exactly what I wanted to read. It's heart and vulnerability, sweet-and-melty-feel-good emotions that wrap you in a hug. The angst is low, the drama at a minimum, but the romance is on point and I know I won't forget it! I can't wait to read more from Maria Luis! Kiss Me Tonight was beyond my expectations, just so so so good. And I can't recommend it enough!
I had the sheer delight to read an early copy of Kiss Me Tonight, the second book in the Put a Ring On It series by Maria Luis.
This book hit me hard in many ways. As a single mom myself, I could empathize with Aspen struggling to raise her son to be a good person, despite the lack of a solid, healthy father figure in his life. There were so many scenes that hurt my heart to read, because they were so raw, so real.
Then there were the moments I found myself laughing so hard I thought I was going to pee myself. From the very first line of the book – Handling balls isn’t for everyone – the laughs keep coming. Even mixed in with all the heart wrenching moments, there is laughter.
The relationship Aspen has with her son is so admirable, and her unconventional job as high school football coach? LOVE IT!
Dominic is such a complex character. He’s so damaged by his past, and yet, he has a heart of gold. While the media portrays him as this unfeeling womanizer, he cares about children, especially those who are in the foster system, and his love for kids helps the bond between him and Aspen to grow. Even if their relationship started out quite volatile! And the heat level between them is out of this world!
If you’re looking for a book that will make you run the gamut of emotions, then you need to get Kiss Me Tonight, ASAP!
Luis has done it again. In no time at all, Dominic and Aspen had their hooks in me – call me driven, compelled, obsessed, or hypnotized – and I was helpless to do anything but keep reading (until 3 AM, thank you very much!) to find out how their delightful, heartfelt story ended.
You may know that Dominic DaSilva is a retired, Super Bowl champion (football romance, anyone?) who becomes infamous on the reality dating show, Put A Ring On It, but now he's hiding out in the small coastal town of London, Maine, from both the paparazzi and the author of that horrible celebrity blog, Celebrity Tea Presents. (Boy, oh boy, do I ever want to see that dang blog author get his comeuppance!) When Dom takes his college buddy up on the offer to coach the high school football team he has no idea that he's the assistant coach or that the head coach is a woman.
Aspen Levi returns home to London with her teenage son, licking her wounds after finally divorcing her despicable husband of fifteen years and a marriage that almost broke her. She was raised on football, having a father and grandfather who both played professionally and went on to coach the London High School Wildcats. She broke every record as a place kicker at Boston College and has years of coaching under her belt, so she's the perfect choice to coach the Wildcats.
Let's just say, it’s about as far from love at first sight as you can get when Aspen and Dom enter each other's orbits. If it’s not bad enough that she doesn’t recognize Dom when she encounters him at the local pub (if that isn’t a hit to the ego) and Aspen's intolerance for Guinness causes her to epically embarrass herself, her son manages to get a little too up close and personal with Dom’s truck on the first day of practice. Oops. In spite of this less-than-stellar beginning, Dom and Aspen soon realize they are kindred spirits with the obstacles they've overcome and hurts that still need healing, and their professional relationship grows into more.
If you like your romance with the perfect balance of humor, heat and heart then Maria Luis is your gal. And once you read one of her novels, you’ll be binge reading your way through her back catalog. Dom and Aspen are both so endearing with their baggage and vulnerable side, and the way they overcome and grow together is truly inspiring. Their story is full of epic laughs (teenage boys -- need I say more?) and heart-tugging moments (the boy from the foster care system finds a family of his own making), and these characters will own your heart!
While the mention of the foster care system could be letting the cat out of the bag (but you don’t know which character, and there are definitely some surprises) it's something that holds a special place in my heart and bears mentioning. There are so many kids in the foster care system who need love and guidance and so many ways to help outside of becoming a foster parent. There are many mentoring programs where adults share a few hours of their time with a child in need, and local schools and churches are a great place to start. Brava, Ms. Luis, for highlighting something so important.
This book is, by turns, poignantly emotional and hysterically funny, creating the best kind of emotional whiplash that leaves the reader on a euphoric high. These admirable, endlessly endearing characters will work their way deep inside and you’ll be disheartened upon saying goodbye but feel enormously blessed to have known them. I don’t know how she does it, but Luis just keeps topping herself with each new book. Dom and Aspen's story is amazingly special in so many ways, and you'll definitely want to grab your copy today. I promise, you won’t be sorry!

I am so incredibly excited to announce that KISS ME TONIGHT (Book 2 in the Put A Ring On It series) is coming May 2019! This is a steamy, enemies-to-lovers romance between an ex-NFL player and a single mom...who just so happens to be his new boss. Hilarity and swoony vibes are about to ensue!
Check out one of my favorite snippets from the book below!
★ ASPEN ★
I jerk back, nearly teetering off the barstool. “Hold on.” Tipsy me thinks it’s a grand idea to lift my hands, palms up, despite the fact that I’m on the verge of going ass-down to the floor. “Are you flirting with me?”
As though he’s used to putting up with drunks, he merely catches me with one of his mammoth-sized paws and hauls me back into place. My naked bicep—praise the world of tank tops, my friends—heats where he touched me. Though the touching lasts only seconds. Milliseconds, really. One moment he’s saving me from absolute humiliation and, in the next, he’s sipping his beer again and dipping his chin.
He’s sidelining me with a onceover, I know it.
I arch my brows, baiting him for a response. “Well?”
“Old habits die hard.”
I’m blinking so hard, I’m half-convinced I’ve developed a sty in the last five minutes since the Hulk sat down and interrupted my otherwise boring evening.
Quiet.
I meant quiet evening.
Jerking my chin to the side, I press my hand to ear in disbelief. “I’m sorry. Did you just say old habits die hard?”
What. A. Jerk.
It’s one thing to pretend he’s not attracted to me, and another to go in for the moment—you know the one; the meaningful look, the low laughter—and play a game of takesy-backsies.
Takesy-backsies shouldn’t even be allowed once you’ve spotted your first gray hair in your pubes. And I’m five in, ladies. Five. Maybe more. I wouldn’t know, since I have my esthetician wax the suckers out and call it a day.
Goodbye, evil age reminders.
I reach for my clutch, which is sitting next to my empty pint, and pop it open. I’m fully prepared to drop cash on the bar for Shawn and get the hell out of dodge, when he rumbles out, “Look. Listen.”
Hands clasped together, I turn to him, brows raised in expectation.
I spent fifteen years kissing Rick’s ass—not literally—and I’ll be damned if I do the same for a stranger.
The Hulk reaches for the collar of his black T-shirt with one finger. Then drops his palm to the bar, hand closed in a fist. “Listen—”
“You said that already.”
That tight fist unfurls into his fingers are all digging into the laminate bar top, giving me the distinct sensation that I’m poking a not-so-hibernating bear.
“You’re cute,” he says, like I should be grateful for the assessment. Like I’m not a woman almost at forty with a teenage son and goddamn gray hairs threatening to sprout at any moment from my nether regions.
A puppy is cute.
A kid in kindergarten is cute.
I am not—
“Cute,” he repeats, all oblivious male arrogance, “but I’m not looking to pick anyone up tonight.”
4.5 stars I loved this book so much. So many favourite tropes: -Single Mom -Football coach (the FMC and MC are coaches) -Hilarious banter Highly recommend this book
When I first read Hold Me Tonight, I was blown away. That book puts Maria Luis on my map. So when Kiss Me Tonight comes out, i am hoping for the same explosion.
Too bad it does not work that way. In Kiss Me Tonight, the story is promising. There're even funny and sweet banters between Dominic and Aspen. I like Aspen. She is a alpha female character as a football coach. What is off is their chemistry. All of that banters, push and pull, does not carry out through out the book. Instead its die down. Plus with the story is dragging too long into the climax I Love You part, the heat dies down too.
I still rate it 3 stars because i do like Aspen and the promising banter. The rest does not left me any good impression.
Kiss Me Tonight is so real and engaging. The beginning of chapter 4 gave me such flashbacks to my youngest daughter. I easily lost myself in the story. Aspen is a complete badas$ and I want to be like her when I grow up. Her patience and strength concerning Dominic was admirable. She gave him the room to be himself, but also see there was room to grow and change. Dominic was pretty amazing. I loved how accepting of Aspen he was. The scene with Rick, who is completely vile, at the bar just highlighted how awesome Aspen and Dom's relationship was. He let her fight her own battle and loved her for it! Can't wait for the third book!
5 star review of Kiss Me Tonight (Put A Ring On It #2) by Maria Luis
Maria Luis is a new author to me. Although this is book 2 in the series I had no problem reading this one as a stand alone. I loved how into football Aspen was, in fact it was this that prompted me to sign up fro read and review this book. Single mum Aspen Levi has returned to her hometown to take up a job as the high school’s football coach. It’s hard to come home when the majority of people feel she betrayed them when she left. This was a read with plenty of humour and laugh out loud moments. Ms.Luis wove a story that was realistic and at times heart wrenching.
I really loved Aspen’s character, she seems like someone I could be friends with. Dominic is a man who has been portrayed as an insensitive womaniser, but there is so much more to him than that. His concern and care for children made me smile.
I loved the dynamic between Aspen and her son as she struggled to raise him by herself. I also loved the banter between Aspen and Dominic, not to mention the fireworks. Dominic and Aspen were well matched and I really wanted them to get their happily ever after. They both have been scarred by their past and yet both are determined to make the most of life.
Get ready to fall in LOVE -- on and off the field!
I absolutely adore sports romances, especially when they feature a strong heroine and a totally cocky but sweet on the inside hero. KISS ME TONIGHT delivers on all points!
Aspen is a kick-ass sportsman all her own who's been unlucky in love, but she's also feisty and determined not to stay down. She inherits her family's legacy coaching job, but wouldn't you know her assistant coach is disgraced football star Dominic DiSilva... But just because he's had some bad press, it doesn't mean he still isn't the cocky star who tries to steal the show.
It's sooo much fun to watch these two go from sparring banter to swoony lovers. From the power struggles to the hilarity, which starts on Page 1 when they first meet in the bar, KMT has a great supporting cast and a great message. It's such a great story to fall in love with--and a bonus epilogue! whoot!
I devoured this fun, swoony, FIVE-STAR romance. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!
I didn't think I could love anyone more than Nick Stamos in the first Put a Ring On It book, but Dominic DaSilva owns my heart. I loved Aspen and admired the hell out of her for 1. having the guts and talent to excel in what's seen as a male-dominated field and 2. putting her son first at all costs, even when it made her suffer for years. The delicious slow burn between coach and assistant coach kept me glued to every word and when the payoff finally happens, its explosive and worth every second of the wait. I love this series and it's made me a huge Maria Luis fan. 5+ stars!
What did I think? I think Maria is a wonder and I love her dirty little mind. I have loved every single one of Maria's books. I have devoured them all. I get such mixed emotions at the end of each one her books-I'm sad because it's ending and she's made me fall in love, again, but then excited because I just KNOW who is coming up next!
I think what got me this time is that Aspen is more my age, with a kid close to my kids age. It was not your typical Maria story with a younger couple, and it was great. I felt like there was more to Aspen's backstory that she was hiding, but yet I didn't want to know all the details. She is like this sassy little wonder woman, but unable to take that risk....until she meets a special someone. Dominic is this badass sexy playboy who (insert puppy dog eyes) just wants to be loved.
There are only a handful of books where I have laughed out loud. Giggled at, yes, tons of books. But I actually laughed out loud several times with this book. Actually, it was more of a laugh/snort it was so good.
I received an advanced copy of this book for my honest review. Hell, I would have read it without an advanced copy.
Let me start with saying, I am a total Enemies to Lovers addict. This was so my Jam!! 💜I Loved, Loved this book! Let’s start with Aspen. This lady, Y’all!! She was so BadA**! Her ex-husband literally spent fourteen years trying his best to break her down and pretty much did. However it didn’t leave her a jaded nasty person. She went back home to her roots, pretty much broke and having to start over. Yet still ,she gave up so much for those she loved. She was so unselfish, so beautiful, and so strong(even when she didn’t know it). She was a champion for every kid on her team and made sure they were taken care of. She was just really one of my favorite characters. Ever! I loved that she was a little older. She had been put through some crap in her life and that let to some insecurities. Who could blame her though?! Then there was Dom. 🖤He was know for his reputation of the gorgeous hulk of cockiness and grade a mega A-hole, but was he really? There was so much more to him and I loved that really the first person he let see all those layers was Aspen. I’m a foster momma, so I love any story about the Phoenix rising from the ashes of a broken system, and trauma that way too many kids today are going through. It really leaves them with baggage y’all. This author did a fabulous job of incorporating that into this story without it making the story sad or just glossing over it either. Great way to bring awareness, but without adding sad overtones to the story. Fantastic job(Sorry that was my little plug for fostering, and mentoring. Lol) I really loved the banter between Dom and Aspen. It was hilarious, and the mishaps (poor Aspen lol) created a fantastic slow burn for us, but when they finally gave in... Holy Hot Biscuits and Gravy!! 🔥Maria Luis gave us a hero that would like throw you down all manly-like and take ya, but make sure he didn’t bump your head on the ground. See there was a gentleman in there! Really though, they were both broken in different ways, but had the ability to heal each other together. This is definitely a five ⭐️one-click, must read💜🖤
Aspen is a saucy little thing, "another bump of that clipboard against my chest. “Kiss my ***, DaSilva.” The end of her ponytail thwacks me in the chin as she whips around to head toward the field" Aspen appreciates her man's thoughtfulness, “for the record, I appreciate you offering to do me doggy-style. Less chance of sand getting into private places that way.” I liked this book, I liked dominic and Aspen, girl was a feisty little thing.
This book made my day! It was very well written with an amazing HEA and storyline! The kids in this book stole my heart and I just love the concept of this book. There are so many kids in this world who would do anything to have a good family and to read about Aspen and her big heart just made me love this book more! Dom is one heck of a good man! (Even though he hardly shows his true self to the outside world.) This book had all the feels and laughs along with a Lot of meaning put into it. I am so glad I took the chance to read this book. It was My first by this Author but it sure won't be my last! So amazing!
Dom and Aspen both have baggage. But they open it, unfold it, and put it away so beautifully in this swoony, funny, and uplifting book in Maria Luis's Put a Ring on It series.
"But tonight I don't want to feel alone, and I don't want to feel like I'm in an ocean swimming all by myself without an anchor to keep me moored."
It's another wonderful read by one of my new favorite authors.
Hold Me Today, the first book in the Put A Ring On It series, was a wonderful read. I was left desperate for the second book, desperate for more of a certain character, and happily jumped into book two the moment I managed to get my hands on it. Kiss Me Tonight, the second book in the Put A Ring On It series, is another winner from Maria Luis. I’ve been left desperate again, in need of the answers to how the third story plays out, and will devour book three the moment I get my hands on it. All in all, Love Me Tomorrow cannot come soon enough.
With how much I loved book one, with how desperate I was for this book, it should come as no surprise to know I devoured this one. Once I started reading, I could not stop. I was hooked, addicted, and could not get enough.
I confess, at the start I was a wee bit tentative. Although the story was fun and I enjoyed the characters, I was not as lost to their chemistry as I was to the chemistry in book one. However, the story had plenty of other things to keep me gripped, and I was happy to continue reading. The more I read, the deeper in I was sucked. The more I was sucked in, the more in love with the chemistry I found myself. It may not have hit me from the very start, but it developed throughout the book and had me hooked by the end.
In fact, there were plenty of times when I was wearing a stupid smile on my face. There was more than just a great romance with this story, and all the different elements hooked me. Without a doubt, it’s a great second book in the Put A Ring On It series.
If you enjoyed book one, you need to give this one a read!
I am such a sucker for Maria's words and writing!!! I absolutely LOVVVED Nick and Mina's story in Hold Me Today(Book 1) and was slowly dying (I know, I'm totes dramatic that way) for Dominic's book!!! I totally fell deeeeep for Dominic, Aspen, Topher, just everything about this book was absolutely insanely good!
There was so much depth to this book, the layers upon layers getting peeled away with the characters. You can't help but to fall for Dominic, he's lonely, he didn't have the best childhood, which your heart will absolutely break for him, he's misunderstood but Aspen sees him, understands him. Aspen has spent most of her adult life trapped, but now is finally free to live her life with her son without the major thorn in her side, her ex. Aspen and Dominic have a somewhat of a hate/like relationship, but their journey to hate/like/love was so eye opening, you can see the moments being chipped away as they fall majorly in love with each other.
I LOVVVED seeing Nick and Mina in the story. They are sooo freakin adorable. I love Aspen's son, Topher, his friends, his interactions with his mother and with Dominic. I just want to climb into the book and squeeze his cheeks, he is just adorable, caring, sweet and just adores his mother. I can't say enough about Maria's writing, I just want more and more!!! I cannot wait for the next installment of this series!!!! I need it!!!! All the STARS!!!
Aspen and Dominic have an instant connection that worked for me. I was expecting fireworks and an enemies to lovers from the chemistry in that first scene.
So, I'm not sure what happened. I did enjoy this, but for some reason, the chemistry fizzled for me and I didn't really buy into the idea that Aspen was attracted to him.
I think, at least for me, the "I am woman, hear me roar" part of the book was too front and center when it could have just been who she was and not made into the issue that I felt it was. There's nothing wrong with a female football coach and it felt like the character (and the book to some extent) spent a lot of time reminding me of that.
Once the romance and the chemistry were the focus, I enjoyed this... but I think the distance I felt toward the characters at the beginning of this title impacted my ability to really connect toward the end.
While I do still recommend this title, it's a little reluctantly and with the caveat that I did not enjoy this one as much as I did the first in the series.
Aspen Levi has just moved back home with her teenage son and has taken the job as head coach. The Levi name is royalty in their hometown. This is bad news for Dominic DaSilva. He is a former NFL player and TV star. He was promised the head coach job. Upon his arrival he learns the the Levi name is more important and he is assigned the Assistant Coach Positon. I loved the power struggle with these two. It was great to read about a female being in the power position. That is not easy for a former football star to stomach.
This is my first read by Maria Luis. I really enjoyed it. This is slow burn romance but it is sexy. I really liked the author’s attention to detail but I would have preferred a little more dialogue. I felt the characters got lost in their head convos instead of talking on the page. That being said it is clear this author has a lot going for her. I would read another book by her. I will have to check out the first book in this series.
Kiss Me Tonight put me through so many emotions. I was laughing, I was saying omg that did not just happen, I blushed, I swooned... boy did I swoon! I hated on a person (no spoilers here), I smiled, I cheered and I cried (Happy tears) and I loved every! Single! Second! Of it.
I did not want this book to end. Aspen and Dominic have wormed their way into my heart and I am not letting them go.
Do yourself a favour buy this book, read this book and love this book. You will not regret it!
Kiss Me tonight is the second book in the Put a Ring on It Series and I couldn't wait to receive it. It can be read as a standalone, but Book 1 was so good, if you haven't already read it, you will definitely want to. I have read every book that Maria has written and I have truly loved every single one. Kiss me Tonight did not disappoint. It is the story of Aspen Levi a high school football head coach and Dominic DaSilva, an ex NFL player. I love sports books, but this book had a unique story line. In addition to the sports theme, the book touched on single mothering, an emotionally abusive ex-husband, foster children and kids needing help. As I usually do in Maria's books, I loved the characters. She has such a talent for creating interesting characters and there is always fantastic chemistry and banter between the characters. There is a perfect balance of humor, romance and drama to keep you so engrossed in the story that I couldn't put the book down until I finished it. I was sorry to see it end because I really wanted more of Aspen and Dom. I highly recommend this book as well as any of Maria's other books. I received an ARC from the author for my honest review
OH. MY. STARS!!!! I knew that this book was going to be amazing and it was WAY more than just amazing! I cannot even begin to describe all of the thoughts and feelings that this book evoked for me. I absolutely love single parent romances and this one has definitely secured a spot at the very top of my all time favorites list. Dom has had a piece of my heart ever since I first heard from him in Body Check. After Hold Me Today, I was in a constant state of grabby hands for his story! Ohhhhhh, but the wait was totally worth it. Maria continues to blow me away with her beautiful words and I cannot wait to see what she does next! I cannot recommend this book more! Click over SUPER FAST and grab your copy! You can thank me later!!!
So we knew I mean knew that we were going to love it, has there really been a book that Maria has written that we don't love? I know you don't even have to answer. I was anxiously yup anxiously waiting for Dom's book and she delivered yet again, again did you doubt? Of course not..This book has you laughing, yelling and seriously wanting to go thru the book and slap Aspens jerk of an ex, what a sleaze.. I wont get into it because I would be robbing you of the enjoyment that is going to be your time in reading this book..Love You Maria and thanks again!!!
Rcvd ARC at no cost to author..Voluntarily reviewed with my own thoughts and opinions..
Kiss Me Tonight, the second book in the Put a Ring On It series by Maria Luis, is another outstanding romance with all of the feels that you MUST READ. Aspen Levi, a single mom, superior athlete, and survivor is a heroine worthy of the title in my eyes. She dedicated her entire adult life to being positive and getting out of an unhealthy marriage to make her and her son’s life better. I admire that drive and ambition and have always routed for the underdog.
Even though she is vulnerable, she is so strong and resilient, and moves back to her hometown to become the head coach of the high school football team in London, Maine. It’s her family’s legacy and her love of football and knowing the game well led her to misconceptions about the hero in this story, the very beautifully described hot, handsome, and wickedly talented Dominick DaSilva.
Dom, too, is also a survivor and so very vulnerable. Even at 6’6", the former NFL star with dozens of accolades has never felt unconditional love or support. His childhood is heartbreaking and yet he was determined to make something of himself and become a good man. But the press doesn’t present him that way resulting in people misjudging him even after he has left the spotlight.
They couldn't be more wrong! Dom is loyal, giving, and loving. He’s sensitive to the needs of others because he knows what it’s like to grow up without a family. He’s a great role model because he wants kids to make good choices and have someone to turn to when they need advice. He's fun to be around, attentive and very witty! An all-around great guy with awesome abs and reflexes to boot!
He also came to London, Maine to get a fresh start and accepts the Assistant football coach of the same team that Aspen was just hired as head coach. Yep! She is his boss and deservingly so as she also as many accolades under her belt as a female footballer. She lives her life with honor and integrity, has a very generous heart, and is such a positive role model. Dom just adores her and it shows. He is proud of her and lets her know.
What I loved most about this story is that they are in the late 30’s so they have had time to experience life and know what they want and what they don’t. I loved their getting to know one another personally day by day and realizing how much they had in common, including their values, in addition to just being physically drawn to one another. There is lots of build-up and sexual tension that will keep you turning the pages! After shedding their fears, trusting one another, and sharing in many conversations, they find their stride as coaches and become friends, each other’s support system, and eventually lovers. Their chemistry is super hot; they feel a deep emotional connection with one another and can finally feel accepted.
If anyone deserves happiness, it is Dom and Aspen. I wanted them together from their very first hilarious meeting in a bar. Although this review sounds like a drama, there are many, many funny scenes in this book as well. Maria is always so witty and does so effortlessly through her characters.
Aspen’s son, Topher, is also someone who deserved a dad in life, and Dom, while not overstepping, taught him by example of how a relationship should be and let him know in no uncertain terms that he was there for him, too, not just his mom. Maria writes strong characters who are very interesting and people you would want to get to know in real life.
The writing as always with Maria Luis is flawless. The characters flow and grow with each page and you get a real understanding where they are coming from. Although I haven’t read it yet, I am looking forward to the bonus epilogue that the author promises will bring on the steam and more romance!
This book is a standalone, but I was so happy that the characters (Nick Stamos and Mia) from Hold Me Today were also included and will continue in the third book. There is an ongoing storyline of Nick and Dominick, who met and became friends while on a reality dating TV show, and I am hoping the bachelorette in the story, Savannah, gets her own HEA! She obviously didn’t choose Nick or Dom as they are now happily engaged to their significant others, so who will it be? Best of all, if you have KU, Hold Me Today is free!
honestly, i didn't get emotionally invested in this book. i'm a little bummed by that too. i thought it was good. the storyline is up my alley. i liked levi's spunky attitude. i liked dom's asshole nature. i liked topher's sweet soul. it kept my attention but i still wasn't super invested.
There was a great deal to love about Kiss Me Tonight. Dominic and Aspen are a work in progress. They don't always see eye to eye, but it's easy to tell there's something simmering just below the surface. Hats off to Luis for creating a character like Aspen. Fearless when it comes to loving her son and being the best mother she can be. Single motherhood is hard work and I applaud every woman that has been faced with that challenge. Dominic makes it tough to get to know him, yet hard not to love him. Kiss Me Tonight is a humorous, heartwarming, frustrating, unpredictable, irresistible work of art. TOUCHDOWN!
