Future Comes From Behind by S.T.K. Chan is a very unique visionary science-fiction fantasy novel which is utterly mind-boggling, to put it mildly.

The book started out with a seemingly normal storyline which seemed to be pretty straight-forward but soon it turned into a whirlwind of tightly packed chapters that were interlaced in different timelines belonging to different people. I am a huge fan of multiple POVs and time-shifts, but this book to an entirely different, which was both good and

Two major themes of the SF Fantasy genre: the battle between good and evil and the time travel and its possible repercussions are entwined by STK Chan in a way in which made the public and editors to identify some Metaphysical Visionary touches and Sword & Sorcery elements. But what it’s worth mentioning about Future Comes from Behind is the way in which the author approaches the themes and manipulates these (sub)genres. This approach brings enough originality to make the story inte

Fearlessly impossible, recklessly irreverent. Easy to get lost in an action-packed and socially debatable story of the clash of past and future events. A questioning story of the meaning of happiness. - Inkish Kingdoms

Can the battle of good and evil be won through time travel? Lisa and her family must flee Malta and while on the run, she stumbles upon Exo, a sort of freeway consisting of memories and echoes from the past. When travelling the past, present and future, Lisa can communicate with shamans and help bring peace to the world. As each battle is re-enacted in Exo, there are lessons to be learned and steps to be taken. But at what cost? Will those travelling through Exo stop the evil incursions or is it ...more

"future comes from behind" by S.T.K. Chan depicts the journeys that a female named Lisa participates in as she becomes fully immersed in experiencing the dimension of Exo and learns how to interact with her fellow shamans as they attempt to battle evil by subtly altering past events.

This thought-provoking science fantasy tale is the first book in the ‘Paradigm Shift’ series. Through a series of vignettes, the author shows how a specially talented female hones her skills by participatin

I received this book for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

This book had a lot of interesting elements. Time travel, shamans, a protagonist who travels to outer space—there was no shortage of remarkable things happening here.
I want to say this wowed me and that I was drawn in to the many time periods and concepts traversed in this book. Rather, I am walking away feeling confused and like there was something in this story that stayed just outside my reach. Lisa, our main charac

I appreciate the gratis copy of this book from Goodreads! I love to win! This is a tough review; it took me all month to finish this book. If I love a book, I just rip through it and then dwell in the realm until knocked out by the next good book! But I did finish it, so I must have had enough immersion to jump in and out and stick with it. I like to think of myself as a smart person but found myself lost or overwhelmed by keeping track of the real and not real world of Exo. I'm still trying to ...more

I found it interesting right from the very beginning. The title itself hooked my attention. The series of events and the way of sequencing the effects related with this jaw dropping storyline, amazed me. This in-depth and thoughtful plot of this Sci-fi fantasy novel kept me at the edge of my seat. Would like to recommend this to all Fantasy lovers out there.

This book was confusing. I think that I am a reasonably intelligent person, but I almost felt that I needed a physics degree to understand what was going on. I never engaged with the characters.

In this - the first novel in the Paradigm Shift - S. T. K. Chan has delivered a unique, and adaptive science-fiction fantasy novel, which it so utterly incorporeal, that it challenges the very reaches of the human-mind.

Beginning seemingly formalistic, the storyline quickly surpassed itself, turning into a cataclysmic set of events, where the chapters, and therefore the people, interlaced and twined together to create an intricate, and delicate intrigue.

Characterisation was above-average, altho

From a young age, Lisa is introduced to a dreamlike world called Exo and soon learns that her surreal adventures bear very real consequences. Future Comes From Behind is a multi-faceted novel containing elements of sci-fi, fantasy, adventure, lucid dreams and politics. However, what really stuck out to me was the crucial message underlying the novel which is all too relevant to this day and age: the vast unconsciousness, evil and violence in the world cannot be overcome without a fundamental par ...more

I received a copy from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This novel had an interesting premise...time travel, shamanism, saving the world, while throwing in a touch of romance... but I lost interest relatively quickly. I got sucked in with the action in the beginning and I kept expecting that the story would build, and it didn’t in the way I thought it would.
It was choppy, the astral experiences lacked depth, characters were a toss up for me. It reminded me a bit of
