It was an excellent and very informative read. I certainly enjoy the growing aspect of it but it was intriguing when the ritualistic aspect was talked about, and the different Native American traditions surrounding it.

I had to chuckle when the process of grafting a lophophora (peyote) onto a more vigorous stock was referred to as a "sacrament". For a non-consumer of psychedelics like myself there's a fair bit of what one might - unfairly perhaps - dismiss as mumbo-jumbo. The book is light on the history of the use of psychoactive cacti, and contains a fair for typographic errors. That said, the fairly detailed description of how to extract pure mescaline from crushed and boiled lophophoras may appeal to the amateur chemist who doesn't mind the risk of blowing up his own kitchen.
Suffice it to say that I wouldn't let the author of this book anywhere near my greenhouse!
