THIS is the book I’ve been most anticipating this summer! ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

Meet Me in Monaco is a story about the romance and wedding of famous Hollywood actress Grace Kelly to Prince Rainier. I knew next to nothing about Grace Kelly, other than she married a prince, so everything about this book enthralled me from the start.

The story begins in Cannes for the film festival, where Grace slides into the Duval family perfume shop to avoid paparazzi. The press representative she’s avoiding is James Henders

A delightfully sweet romance layered with historical fiction, life lessons, and difficult choices.

SUMMARY
The beautiful actress Grace Kelly is visiting the Cannes Film Festival in May 1955 where she is relentlessly pursued by a British photographer. Kelly enters a perfume shop where she is tucked away in an office by the shop’s owner, Sophie Duval just as the pursuing photographer enters the shop. Because of this act of kindness the two women form a bond that lasts a lifetime.

Sophie, a stru

I was in seventh heaven when I knew Hazel Gaynor and Heather Webb were writing a book set in the French Riveria that was interwoven throughout with Grace Kelly's fairy tale romance to Prince Rainier of Monaco. The French Riviera, especially Provence and Côte d’Azur where the novel takes place (and of course, Cannes and Monaco), is where my husband and I spent an incredible two weeks for our 10th wedding anniversary, so the book transported me right back there. Grace Kelly is also one of my favor ...more

As soon as I heard about this sumptuous novel, I wanted to get my hands on it! Princess Grace! The Prince! Their wedding! And an entrancing connection between Sophie Duval, a perfumer who protects Grace from paparazzi in Cannes, and British photog James Henderson, who falls hard for Sophie. I love, love, love this exotic Côte d’Azur tale, already named one of Popsugar’s best beach reads. Highly recommended for historical fiction fans, lovers of romance, and the legions enchanted by the

A chance encounter with actress Grace Kelly at Cannes during the international film festival in 1955 changes two lives forever. She dashes into the boutique parfumerie owned by Sophie Duval to avoid pursuit by an avid member of the paparazzi. Sophie directs her to her office where the actress can sneak out the back door. Meanwhile English photographer James Henderson rushes in looking for Grace and confronts Sophie. All he needs is a photograph of Grace to keep his boss happy but settles for a s ...more

Like their wonderful collaboration LAST CHRISTMAS IN PARIS, Hazel Gaynor and Heather Webb have again crafted a spellbinding historical romance. Set largely on the lush Cote d’Azur, MEET ME IN MONACO is a tale of first, missed, and second chances–of relatable women and men trying to make good lives for themselves in spite of difficult circumstances. It is a fairy tale set in post-war Europe, with an enchanting, fascinating fairy godmother: Grace Kelly.

This novel about parfumeur, Sophie Duval, has

A chance encounter between Hollywood starlet Grace Kelly, luxury fragrance perfumer Sophie, and celebrity photographer James forever alters all of their lives. Alternating between Sophie and James, the story begins in 1955 and includes tidbits from Grace's real-life romance with Prince Rainier III of Monaco, while mainly focusing on the budding friendship/romance between Sophie and James.

"The three of us had apparently become as entwined as a tangled spool of thread."

As a little girl, I was obsessed with Grace Kelly. I was fascinated by her love story and in the end, her tragic death, and longed for the day that I too could become a real American princess.

But as I got older I moved on from princess dreams to horses and didn’t look back. That is until the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markel. It was another famous American, marrying royalty and becoming a princess that reignited my interest in Grace Kelly.

When I saw that this book was coming out, I squea

Meet Me in Monaco is a feast for the senses: the smells, the sights, the flavors of Provence. It will transport you the French Riviera which you will never want to leave. This is exactly the type of book I love to read. I adored the enchanting setting of South of France, I loved the historical backdrop of Grace Kelly and Prince's of Monaco romance, and I fell in love with the main characters, Sophie and James. Grace Kelly serendipitously brought them together and became the catalyst for

The advanced copy fairy continues to treat me very well! Here are my thoughts about this fantastic book:

Webb and Gaynor’s latest collaboration is a historical fiction home run. The duo brings to life a vivid, engaging heroine, a glorious Côte d'Azur setting, and the ultimate princess, Grace Kelly. MEET ME IN MONACO is smart, romantic, and heartbreaking, and the tale captivates from the start.

This was, until the last 34 pages, a perfect 5 star read. It’s still good, delightful, and beautifully written; but the ending, while ultimately sweet, initially left me bitter.

James Henderson is a paparazzo for a tabloid magazine, but he likes to think himself as so much more than that as he as higher aspirations. It's the 1950s and his tabloid magazine assigns him to Cannes for the famous film festival. Not a bad gig, right? This year James, also known as Jim, is hoping to get the much sought after shot of the one and only Grace Kelly. While in Cannes, Grace, annoyed at the persistent photographers, seeks refuge in a perfume shop run by Sophie Duval. Grace is intrigu ...more

Thank you so much to Harper Collins Canada for a free review copy of this book. I read and loved the last book this author duo wrote so I was very interested in this book. I was also definitely intrigued to read a book about Grace Kelly and her romance with Prince Rainier and then there was the added element of the beautiful French Riviera as the setting. The story is told by Sophie and James and we learn of their fictional connections to Grace as well as their relationship to each other. This i ...more

Thank you so much to Harper Collins Canada and William Morrow Books for sharing Meet Me in Monaco by Hazel Gaynor and Heather Webb for review. Available July 23, this one should definitely be on the top of your wishlist!!

Sophie and James are two of the most heartwarming characters I have read in a very long time. I loved them both almost from the first page and from the start wanted the best for both.

i only just read last christmas in paris a couple months ago, so it was fresh in my mind when i got this one. i had high expectations.

i struggled a bit in the first 30% but then it picks up. i was liking it but definitely not as much as the last christmas book, it just wasn't as readable or i wasn't clicking with it as quickly. i wasn't super happy with sophie and lucien, i really don't have patience for characters who stay with someone who is so obviously wrong for them, especially when it kee

As I sigh and take a deep breath, I wonder and think about this book."If's. Buts. Maybes. Memories and regrets. They are all carried in the stars." I love this quote from this beautiful book. A scent has the power to evoke a memory. Sophie Duval is a perfumer. She creates scents that can hold memories. This book is a richly woven tapestry of love and memories. It is interlaced with Grace Kelly's story of becoming a Princess and is an integral part of Sophie and James story. Sophie and James are ...more

I have to admit - I know very little about Grace Kelly. I know she was an American movie star. I know she married the Prince of Monaco. And that was about it. I knew nothing about her background, her courtship, or her life after marriage. And to be honest - you won't learn TOO much about that in this book.

A fabulous read from start to finish. Kudos to the authors for their obvious research in the art of creating French "parfums" and the art of photography as well as the accurate details of the wonderful settings in the south of France.. The reader is easily transported back to the 1950's as the story focuses on the real-life events surrounding the marriage of Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier. Mixing fiction with history and romance, the story offers a wonderful opportunity to truly visit the Côte d ...more

Woohoo! This is my 300th book review! See what I thought of this historical, biographical, women's fiction novel that is being touted as a "summer read" (because of the romance aspect) but I call it "Heaven Scent" (and no, that's not a misspelling) on my blog now! https://tcl-bookreviews.com/2019/07/1...

Ah Monaco. The perfect place for romance. In this delightful book the authors tell the story of actress Grace Kelly traveling to Monaco to join Prince Rainier III in the marriage of the century when she will become Princess Grace. With fairytale worthy descriptions of the castle, the church, the flowers, the wedding dresses, I was swept away to join in all the festivities. This fast-paced love story kept me racing through the pages, hesitant to put it down. It's magical and endearing and I was t ...more

I just finished reading an ARC of Meet Me In Monaco by Hazel Gaynor and Heather Webb, courtesy of Goodreads Giveaway.

I started reading this book under the impression it was Historical Fiction, but soon realized although it takes place in Monaco in the mid 1950's, technically fitting into the genre, it is definitely a love story.

Also to my surprise, this is not the story of Grace Kelly meeting her prince. Grace is present - the story opens with her sliding into a perfume shop to avoid a persiste

A floating, balmy romantic read that takes place primarily in the Cote 'd Azure of France. The backdrop is a chance meeting of Hollywood star Grace Kelly, perfumer Sophie Duval, and Jim Henderson the photographer she was trying to avoid. From the Cannes Film Festival 1955, the epic wedding of Grace Kelly to Prince Rainier, through the next 20+ years, these lives would be intertwined. A love story of coming of age and second chances.

I’ve always been a fan of Grace Kelly and was very excited to get an early copy of this book. Although only about a small period of Grace Kelly’s life but more about two others who met because of her. It’s their story that’s so good! The whole book grabbed my attention! It was so good, making me wish for more!

Oh, to be transported to Monaco during the days of Grace Kelly's courtship with Prince Ranier. Well, reading Meet Me in Monaco is the second best option!

in May of 1955, we meet Sophie, a young parfumeur with a distinctive talent for creating beautiful, unique scents. On the run from the paparazzi, Grace Kelly seeks refuge in Sophie's shop and a friendship is born. Coincidentally, the very paparazzo that Grace is hiding from becomes a man of great significance to young Sophie and we receive alte

This is the first book to me by Hazel Gaynor. I really loved it so much and enjoyed the journey of Grace, Sophie and Jim but I don't love the end, why the author not making Sophie and Jim married early, why they wait all those years to meet, talk and then married.
