I am in love with the author's writing style in this book; of course, it's the only book I've read from this author, so I have nothing else to compare it to...

Beautifully written, poignant and whimsical!

If you could spin dreams, which colour would you use the most?

Heka and the Colour Thief is a cerebral undertaking. Despite being a novella, it is the kind of literature that needs to breath and should not be consumed in one sitting. The prose is thick and the concepts are philosophical, the two are inseparable. Mythic Fiction is a newish genre, but this book really nails down that definition, being more of a dreamlike parable than a classic narrative, however the plot is still deeply structured and never leaves you feeling lost even when the characters are ...more

First Impressions

I have to say, for a small, independent publisher focused on niche genres, Sera Blue has not disappointed with the quality of this book. The cover is absolutely exquisite - I was drawn to it immediately, and the blurb was enticing enough to convince me to read on.

If dreams could be spun to life, Dennis would be the weaver. Like his protagonist, he enchants the world around him, spinning words into a tale that reads like a daydream. A charming vacation from the hustle of city life into the depths of the underworld made beautiful through a vibrant perspective similar to Synesthesia. The opening line, "The dream in her hands was like many of the dreams of the dead," captures the soul of the reader, enticing one to join Heka on her journey through the innerm ...more

Some awesome Greek mythology used as inspiration, but very much its own thing, this book was well written with great descriptions and interesting character interactions.

Where can I sign up to be a colour witch?

Dennis' writing is so serene. When I read Heka, it was written in such a way that I could lose myself in Heka's colourful chaos without thinking about my own. I loved it.
