Most of this little book is fascinating entertainment and education about life between Kanab, Utah, and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon when cowboys were king and motorized vehicles with roads for their travel were just beginning to come into existence. Melding the Foreword and the Introduction with the narrative also provides a fascinating story of Rowland W. Rider's early life lived in this locality followed by some decades of successful living. This book also brought my attention to Lee's Ferry and Zane Grey and introduced me to the Julius F. Stone expedition through the Grand Canyon. All three of these subjects sparked my interest and motivated me to research them a little more. Some of the book, especially Part One, were cowboy humor and entertainment and would be enjoyed immensely more if presented by Rider, a renowned story teller, with his infectious laugh.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I have spent a fair amount of time "exploring" this area on my trips to Grand Canyon. So, my familiarity and interest with the area really contributed to my enjoyment of the stories.
