“I can’t catch another bouquet without a date.” Even if that date turns out to be the boss!
Desperate not to be single at her sister’s wedding, hot shot consultant Andrea Payne offers to pay a total stranger at a bar to be her date! That doesn’t end well, especially when she shows up at her new job and finds the total stranger is her new boss, Gage Fleming. He’d hired her sight unseen, and he’s just as surprised as she is. But he’s amused too, and he needs Andy’s help with his business. So he agrees to help her, and be her plus one.
And that’s when the trouble starts. Because underneath the fake date arrangement, there’s real passion. Ending up in bed together is bad enough—having to see him every day at the office may prove too much for her heart. Andy can’t help but daydream that she’ll be the one throwing the next bouquet. If only she could tempt Gage to share the fantasy…
Jessica Lemmon is a former job-hopper who resides in Ohio with her husband and rescue dogs. She holds a degree in graphic design currently gathering dust in an impressive frame. When she’s not writing emotionally-charged stories, she spends her time drawing, drinking coffee, and laughing with friends. Her motto is Read for fun, and she believes we should all do more of what makes us happy.
Andrea Payne is a clever and confident businesswoman, but when it comes to relationship, it's a different matter. She always felt like the black sheep in her family, because she's not funny or sweet like her sisters, but more reserved and serious, and we can't say they're the most supportive people so with time, Andy got into the habit of staying distant, even if they see each other, especially for her siblings' wedding. The last, and youngest of her sister is getting married in two weeks and after many disastrous dates, in the hope of finding an acceptable candidate for little sis' ceremony, Andy is determined to not go alone and when a man, sitting at the bar, catch her attention, on the spur of the moment, she offer him money to fly with her in Ohio and pretend to be her boyfriend for a weekend.
Ever since his last girlfriend broke his heart and bruised his ego, Gage Flemming kept things casual with women, but without being a player. But at thirty, he's tired of the dating game. So when a stranger offer him two thousand dollars just to accompany her to a wedding, he think she's either crazy, desperate, or both and refuse. But going to work on monday to meet with the expert in marketing he hired to help the company boost their sales, bring an even bigger surprise. The Andy Payne he hired is the woman he turn down in a bar just a few days ago. Not one to usually drop out, Andrea is ready to make an exception this time, being so embarassed about the situation. But Gage propose a new deal. If she stay to help him at the agency, he's gonna go with her to her sister's wedding.
I had such a great time reading this book ! Temporary to Tempted is part of a series but can be read as a standalone. It's the second book and I have a feeling it'll be my favorite. I love the pretend-boyfriend trope but what made this one stand out is the amazing characters and their sweet, hot and natural chemistry. I adored the hero's good-natured personality and recognized myself in the heroine's tendancy to remain apart (the only difference is that in my case, it's intentional ;p). Gage was the perfect guy for Andy, he made her realize that it's okay to be herself, that's there's nothing wrong with not being like everyone else. That's why she was so comfortable with him while she never really did with anyone else before. And one thing is obvious from the start : their physical connection is no pretend !
If you're searching for a sexy and sweet romance, search no more, here's your next read ;p
Temporary to Tempted by Jessica Lemmon is a sexy romance that starts off as a weekend arrangement and ends up with a happy ever after. It’s part of the author’s Bachelor Pact series, which started with a fun and sexy friends to lovers romance, Best Friends, Secret Lovers.
Gage Fleming doesn’t know what to think when an attractive woman approaches him at a bar and offers him money to attend a wedding as her date. He turns her down though he kind of wishes he hadn’t. He gets a chance to change his mind when she shows up at his workplace as the person who has been hired to get their business to a new level.
Andy Payne prides herself on her work and never getting flustered, but she certainly doesn’t expect her new clients to include the man she propositioned! She’s ready to call off the business arrangement when Gage surprises her by accepting her initial offer to be her date for the wedding in return for her keeping her commitment to help their company. It’s too good an offer to resist, and when Gage does a more than admirable job of being her date, complete with some unexpectedly hot moments behind hotel doors, it’s tempting to think that what they have could lead to something permanent. But Gage is part of a bachelor’s pact to stay clear of marriage after a previous engagement left him with cold feet. Is he willing to break the pact for a future with Andy?
This is Gage's story. Gage is BFFs with Reid and Flynn (previous book). They all work together at Flynn's company. Gage is in charge of sales and he decides to hire Andy Payne; an individual who is phenomenal in turning companies around and/or dramatically increasing sales in others. All assume Andy is a he. Andy (Andrea) is one of 5 sisters and will be the last unmarried one. Her sister is tying the knot and she needs a date, stat! That desperation drives her to ask a guy in a bar to be her date- all expenses paid. And the guy turns out to be Gage. Gage does end up going with her so she doesn't resign her position to help them increase sales. This was a nice story about 2 people who connect and slowly realize they fit well together. There is a little angst, but thankfully, not too much.
Although Andy is the most successful, career-wise, in her family, her mother and self-absorbed sisters make her feel "less than" as well as the black sheep of the family. I mean if these toxic people don't care about your feelings and well-being, cut them loose! Life is too short to put up with that kind of disrespect. So glad Gage turned out to be just what the doctor ordered! (Kindle Edition-Harlequin)
This is the second book in the Bachelor Pact Series that centers around friends Flynn, Gage and Reid who have entered into a pact to remain bachelors. Book one had Flynn breaking the pact and now Gage is in Love’s crosshairs. Andrea “Andy” Payne is a strong, successful businesswoman who works as a consultant to help businesses improve their bottom line. She going to her sister’s wedding in two weeks and needs to find a date to get her family off her back. After a disastrous online date, she see Gage in the bar and decides to approach him with an offer of payment to accompany her to the wedding. Gage thinks she’s hot, but crazy and passes. Of course, when he is about tell his friend Reid about the nut job he met, they see her in the conference room. She is their new consultant, Andy Payne. Gage ends up going as the fake boyfriend, though it doesn’t stay fake for long. I really liked Andy and Gage. Andy has the reputation as the Ice Queen with her family and friends. Gage sees a warm, smart and somewhat shy woman. Andy opens up with Gage, and she starts to see that she might be overreacting to her family’s teasing. I really liked how the relationship grew organically. I cannot wait until Reid breaks the pact!
I read this because I loved the first book in this series, and this one does not disappoint with a sexy, complex hero who oozes charm and a delightfully driven heroine who attempts to manage her life and emotions as an exercise in control. That is until she meets our hero Gage, in a bar, and tries to hire him as her wedding date. It's that moment she lets her control slip that comes back to bite her when she subsequently enters Gage's company as the elusive tip top business whizz that he has wooed relentlessly to improve marketing and sales. Andy's mortification is such that she is determined to walk but Gage has other ideas. A really good story with great dialogue and a couple who find themselves in the middle of something neither of them expected.
Temporary to Tempted is the second in the series but is also a stand alone story. This is a story of pretense becoming reality and accepting the change. Andy lives her life as a tough as nails businesswoman and never revealing her true self, that is until she is desperate to find a date to her sister's wedding. She is stunned to learn that the guy she offered money to in a bar to be her date turns out to be her latest client. Gage refuses to get into another permanent relationship after his engagement failed but is intrigued with Andy after seeing her vulnerable side in the bar and her tough side at work. He agrees to go to the wedding and the story that follows is filled with laughs, tears and love. A beautifully written love story that will keep you reading until the last page.
I received an advanced reader copy from the publisher but all thoughts and feelings are my own.
The second in a series, that can technically be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading the first so you can better understand Gage and his background. You're missing out on the full story if you don't! Andy...strong spitfire, but as the layers are peeled back we see she has the same insecurities and walls built that the majority of women have. Gage (or as Reid teased, Gagey!) is a good guy, but total man brain from a past relationship and bro-pact he thinks he needs to uphold. If you've read Jessica Lemmon's books, you know she paints a picture that makes you feel like you really know the characters. I usually want to hang out with them and have a glass of wine- in this case I wanted to hang out on the couples cruise! If you haven't read any of her books, you're missing out.
Ok I'm DEFINITELY interested in the next book, and I read this one cover to cover - so I think that says something.
>.> I also can't remember the characters names off the top of my head right now ... [but I've also only had like 8 hours of sleep in the past 3 days and am still rather on drugs so...]
... Andy! and ... >.> dude. [See? I've ALWAYS been a very heroine centric reader :P] I caved - had to look it up - Gage Fleming!
[OMG SO DEFINITELY EXCITED ABOUT THE NEXT BOOK PAIRING NOW THAT I REMEMBER THE HEROINE]
Anyway - very cute with the heroine who needs to figure her shit out and the hero who ... well TBH is an idiot? Like he's perfect in almost every way other than letting ONE FREAKING CHICK that he supposedly is 100% over ... dictating ALL his relationships for the past 10 years? Or more? My dude. ... Come the fuck on now.
I wanted to smack him silly for the scene when she brings take out to his place - but at least he feels terrible about it and they get back together after just ~9.5 days. => not considering that a spoiler because hello romance novel OBVIOUSLY THEY GET BACK TOGETHER - and faster generally timeline because it's a category romance.
Loved how sweet they were, the great chemistry, the awkwardness, the family dynamics ... Really an enjoyable read and I'm interested in finding more books by Jessica Lemon.
Andrea (Andy) Payne is smart, funny and buttoned-up. She is seeking a date for her sister's wedding. This book just reminded me of the movie the Wedding Date. Gage Fleming is in a pact with his partners that they are swearing off women. They met across the room. She is determined and he is just curious. Business has a way of changing everything. He sees her for who she really is, not a kook. I love the look of them together the whole time at the wedding. You will be laughing along the way. Just when you think they will get their HEA, his past comes and bites him. Can he convince her to give them a chance? I love the ending!
Gage and Andrea's story was such a delightful read! I loved Andy's approach to him, even though she felt desperate. His turning her down was the right move at the time. His conniving way of accepting was funny. Their whole story was fun, sexy and I loved every minute of it. The wedding weekend was original and eye opening. Jessica Lemmon is now in my go to author list for fun steamy books.
