With The Last O.G. Cookbook , you can keep the party going at home with recipes inspired by the hit TBS comedy starring Tracy Morgan and Tiffany Haddish. Morgan plays Tray Barker, a recently released ex-convict who, upon returning to his hometown of Brooklyn to find his girlfriend married to another man and his neighborhood gentrified, relies on his cooking skills to find his place in a city he often doesn't recognize. The soulful recipes in this book offer outrageously addictive taste sensations, combinations that may seem wacky but work wonders, and bold in-your-face flavors. Learn how to make mad-genius dishes such as Dessert Loaf, Wild-Style Lasagna, and Prison Pad Thai, as well as recipes that evoke the melting pot that is Brooklyn, both old and new, relying on African-American classics reinterpreted for the modern cook. In this vein are Tray’s Cornflake-Battered Fried Chicken with Sweet Pickles, Shay's "Somebody Died" Spaghetti, and Bobby's Blinged-Out Hoppin' John. With special features woven throughout that immerse you in the O.G. world, this keepsake volume will become a new standard for soul food cooking and a must-own book for every fan of the show.
A friend of my wife and mine's got us this book as a sort of gag gift. I got to turning through it and found the colorful, full page pictures of the food enticing.
I've made many of the recipes from this cook book. I use it all the time. The recipe for collard greens is excellent, as is the very basic hot sauce recipe. My daughter loves the pretzel dusted kebabs.
Aside: I didn't really watch the show. I watched a few episodes AFTER receiving this cookbook, it's good.
I started enjoyimg this show a couple months ago and so when I saw this cookbook, I didn't know what to think! It has it all! Told in Tray's hysterical voice, you can be inspired by the stories behind the recipes, be entertained as well as educated about some of the issues we face in America. I cannot wait to try some of these recipes! Has history, trivia, playlists and quotes. I will add this to my cookbook collection. Tracy has heart!
Tracy Morgan is a funny funny man....would I eat most of the dishes, probably not on a daily basis, but possibly just for fun as a party addition. Some great comedic reading in between the recipes and also great info on some awesome organizations to check out and get behind.
A tie-in to the TBS show., which I don’t watch. Some interesting recipes that I may try. Most are not to my taste. If I watched the show, I might have enjoyed this book more.
