A note from the author:
Thanks for visiting my Goodreads page.
I wanted to tell something meaningful about myself, but let's start with the important stuff--I love swoon-worthy heroes. The kind of heroes that are strong and would take a bullet for you, but also want to open your door and listen to you pour out your heart.
What else? I grew up moving. If you’ve read my books, you won’t be surprised by this. I have a lot of moving themes through my books centered around characters experiencing pain from someone moving.
It was hard. But, I believe there’s always a seed of good that comes out of everything hard, so I think the best thing that came from it was that I learned to love books.
And I had to learn a lot of mad skills on friend making. It gave me a love of people…good people, compassionate people. Interesting people of all kinds.
What else about me? I am a mother and wife! I have four amazing boys that are like little ninjas running around. I love them so much and I’m so grateful for my amazing husband who doesn’t get intimidated by all the billionaire men in my life.
I have a fierce love of my Savior, Jesus Christ. I am so grateful for Him and for the healing and forgiveness I’ve gotten to experience in my life. This is a theme in many of my books.
I love being an American. I am so proud of the men and women that support and preserve our freedom. This is another theme you will find in my books.
I am so grateful for my fans and for the support and love you all show me! Don’t stop reading!
This may be my first read by Taylor Hart, but it definitely won’t be my last. I couldn’t flip the pages fast enough while reading Jewel and Grant’s story. If you’re looking for a feel-good story about a Hollywood Star and an acting teacher that really cares, then you will love this story. Jewel and Grant don’t get off on the right foot to start, but he really proves himself to her. No spoilers, so grab your copy or borrow from KU, like I did. I can’t wait to read the other books about the Kent brothers.
Grant Kent is one of a brood of brothers, half of whom seem to have their lives figured out. Grant is an action movie star with his pick of ladies - but the lady his agent picked out for him, Tracy, has cheated on him. He feels done with women for a while until he volunteers at his cousin’s theater camp where he meets Jewel Olympia. He is under strict instruction for his agent to “lie low” until after the premier of his latest action film in order to keep up the pretense of a relationship. Jewel is a sure, feisty red-head, who is critical of his acting, but immediately catches his attention. What he doesn’t know is that, despite her criticisms, Jewel has seen all of his movies, and might even watch his famous rom-com when she needs to get away from real life. (BTW, who DOESN’T have a movie like that? Pride and Prejudice (2004) anyone??)
Jewel is a few days away from a life-changing roadtrip to meet her birth mother when she meets this handsome, almost stalkerish movie star. She’s been burned by the movie-star-type before, so she’s definitely not buying his brand of charm. Fake, indeed. Besides, she has enough to worry about as it is. As Grant becomes more involved in Jewel’s life by escorting her to Park City, Utah to meet her birth mother, he realizes he’s falling for her. Jewel finds herself falling for Grant and begins to peel away his layers to talk about his life in the secret service, and the trauma he experienced. For what feels like the first time in a long time Grant Kent finally goes from fake to real in a few short weeks.
When I picked this book up, it was because I wanted to read a Christmas story and I always enjoy Taylor Hart’s books, clean romances that always end with a proverbial neatly tied bow (very satisfying). Taylor is always an author I recommend for a recovery book as well - you could pick any of hers and they’re perfect for when you’ve just finished something heavy and you need something with a lighter feel to help stave off the book hangovers. This is a cute little Holiday read and I love the chemistry these two have. 4 cute little stars from me!
This book kept coming up everywhere I turned it seemed and I could have sworn I'd read it but I didn't have any record of that on goodreads where I keep track of all my reading. Weird. So I decided to read it so I could settle up with my memory of having read it. This has happened to me before. I see a cover so often and hear about that book that I begin to think I've already read it. But as I read I knew that I had read all this before. Problem was that I couldn't remember enough detail to write a review so I kept reading. Silly me.
I have some issues with the story. Things like her rudeness and his insistent stalking behavior are bothersome to me. But if you can overlook that beginning you can enjoy this rest of the story. The relationship moves super fast. They go from fake engagement to real in a very short time period. Also, I don't find the book to be very Christmasy and I really wanted a Christmas book to read.
I do like the brothers and their interactions. They are obviously close knit. And I love Grant's relationship with his cousin. They are sweet.
Possible trigger: child abandonment/adoption
Sex: some references to sexual conduct but no sex Language: no Violence: no
I usually enjoy Taylor Hart's books, but this is one of the exceptions. I got maybe 10% of the way in and decided that Jewel Olympia is one of the most obnoxious characters I've ever read. She's so unbelievably rude & ungrateful to Grant after he volunteers to help her out, there is no justification that makes up for it.
And the overused idea that Grant is going to chase after her because of her beauty + the novelty of her rejecting him doesn't work. He's surrounded by "beautiful people" so it's not going to readily affect him at that level. And rejection in the form of a sweet, gentle "Sorry, but no" is one thing - rejection in the form of insults and projecting an ugly on the inside person are completely different. Unless Grant is a masochist, it's not gonna happen.
So sadly, since I not only dislike the heroine, but have concluded her character is irredeemable, this goes to my DNF pile. I average a book per day - counting the books on my DNF list would not use up all my fingers. I am not a picky person; I really think it's that bad. Sorry.
Grant is a famous actor. He is home after the filming of his latest movie. He's the guardian of his 17 year old cousin. He agrees to help with an inner city theater program at her school. When he meets her teacher, Jewel, he is surprised that she isn't impressed with him.
Jewel was adopted and has just received word on her biological mother. She is preparing for a road trip to meet her. Grant wants to go, but she isn't interested. Through a series of events, she gives in and lets Grant go with her.
As Grant spends time with her, he realizes that his brothers were right that he had become a fake person. Very good book.
I'm not a fan of books about Hollywood famous people. Most of the characters are fake and the stories fall flat. I really liked this book. Grant is one of 6 brothers. He didn't grow up "fake". He was just becoming that way. Jewel sets him straight. I really enjoyed this book.
Grant Kent is the caregiver of his 17 year old niece Ari, who lost both her parents at the same time two years ago in a freak car accident. Ari is so happy he's done early with his movie and will be able to go with her the next two days to help with the acting workshop that her teacher Ms. Olympia has sponsored for inner city kids. The thing is Ms. Olympia thinks Grant is a "hack". What? Grant can't wait to meet her now! A hack? Only when he meets her fireworks go off - for him. WOW, he can't believe she blows him off after asking her to dinner! Then the next day after the workshop - same thing! What is with this woman? He has to get to know her! Only what is going on in her life? Will he be able to break down her barriers to find out? This story is a must read if you like Taylor Hart's books! You will love getting to know each of the Kent brothers!
A sweet surprise romance What happens when a top Hollywood star meets someone who is not impressed? Grant was used to being fawned over by all he met. When he attends a high school drama workshop he is shocked to be called a hack by Jewel, the drama teacher. She also is not interested in dating him. However, when he discovers she is trying to find her birth mother, he steps in to make her journey easier. From LA to Jackson to Park City, they track her mother not sure what they will find if they do find her. And what about the wonderful couple who raised her? A sweet romance you’ll enjoy.
Grant has just finished his movie and has come home for sometime to relax and enjoy his cousin Ari. Air asked him to volunteer at her High School Acting Camp. He agrees and goes to make her drama teacher. Jewel had told the class that he was a hack in one of the scenes of his last movie. Grant isn't happy but realizes she was honest he didn't like that scene either. He asks her out but she said No. Will he be able to change her mind? Well written story with strong and believable characters.
I had trouble even in the first pages, of staying interested. With maximum narrative, minimal conversation, there was just nothing to hold onto. I hate to call a story ‘boring’, but here we are. After a few chapters in, of more and more of the same, the story going nowhere, I deleted it from my kindle. It may pick-up at some point, and be great. If so, I didn’t read to that point. This is, sadly, not a book I could recommend.
They met through his sister. He is one of the five brothers. Each one famous in their own business. He just happens to be a Hollywood movie star. She teaches drama at his sisters school. She was not impressed with his star attitude. Their courtship had a few twist and turns going on. But when she finds herself in a small conflict he steps up to help her out. Will it be enough for them to get their own happy ending?
The first half of this book drove me crazy. She was so mean and even though she felt one way, treated him completely different. But the second half redeemed it enough that it will be 4 stars instead of 3. Not my favorite of these books. They are all cheesy and totally predictable but sometimes thats what we need.
I picked this one up because I wanted to read one more Christmas story this year. While it didn’t have a whole lot of Christmas in it, it was a light, easy read to relax with. I enjoyed both characters’ spunk and determination. It was fun to get a peak into the lives of the other Kent brothers. It sounds like the are some other fun reads in this series.
This is a refreshing and thoughtful love story about not only unexpected love but forgiveness and honest so come along on this journey towards love and forgiveness.
Taylor Hart might be my favorite author in this genre. Light, easy to read novels. Clean books that are perfect for whiling away a cold day by the fire, reading on the beach or just getting lost in for an evening. Do yourself a favor and read all of her books.
Her Hollywood Fake Fiance - Grant Kent, movie star, member of the famous Kent brothers, has met his match. She's the perfect girl and yet she only shoots him down. What can he do to win her heart?
This is definitely a sweet romance for Christmas time. I love that a celebrity wants to be real and have real relationships and show the relationship to the world. How she helps him overcome his past. I just really enjoyed it. Predictable but so sweet and perfect for this romantic time of year.
Very fun story and I love all the Kent brothers. The order to read these on goodreads seems off tho since Wills story seems to have taken place before this one the way the Epilogue and mentions to it are throughout this book.
He’s a movie star in a fake relationship and she’s a drama teacher. His niece introduced them and the rest is history. He helped her find her birth mother even if initially she rebuffed him.
Super fun story, I hadn't read any of the other Kent Brother Romances and that family gets mentioned quite a bit in this story which is kind of hard to understand, but cute.
Moral Note: Kissing, talk of waiting for marriage.
Rating 2.5. Jewel’s initial rudeness was difficult to swallow. Can someone be real while being mannerly? It was an okay story. One thing in its favor is how fast they married. Normally, books like this have them waiting a year to tie the knot even when “waiting until marriage.”
I loved watching Grant find himself again. Jewel was really good for him. Their story was sweet and fun. My heart broke for both of them at times, but they were so much better going through it together.
I enjoyed the clean romance story. Seldom do you read the woman chooses to wait until marriage before giving her virginity. I highly recommend this story for the young adult reader.
I loved Jewel’s stubbornness and her commitment to her beliefs. I loved Grant’s perseverance; he even admitted he is relentless. This book is sweet, has laughs, and has tears! I loved it!
