It’s time for Siasi to go to bed, but she doesn’t want to brush her teeth or put away her toys. It’s so much more fun to play with all the animals of the Arctic! Wouldn’t everyone rather dance with polar bear, howl with the wolves, and swim with the fish instead of get ready for bed?
In this charming bedtime story, readers follow Siasi on a nighttime adventure as she comes

A Native/First Nations child does NOT want to go to bed, but instead, wants to howl like the wolves and fly like the geese. Introduces some great Arctic animal and is a fabulous interactive bedtime book for toddler and preK storytimes.

If you were in Siasi's situation, you might not want to go to bed either. While an adult urges her to complete her nighttime rituals and prepare for sleep, Siasi has plenty of reasons not to do so. After all, she would rather engage in active play with a polar bear, a caribou, the geese, the wolves, the rabbits, and the fish, complete with all sorts of movement and sounds, than head off to bed. Eventually, she's run through all her excuses and agrees to sleep. The story is charming with its repe ...more

This book is so delightful! I read it in toddler storytime and everyone adored it. We howled and flapped our wings and had so much fun. I also took it home to my child. It's a perfect diverse book - introducing Arctic animals and a small Native/First Nations child. Everything is familiar (going to bed) and new (running with Caribou). My Alaskan audience loved that they recognized all the animals. But I would read this to any child, anywhere, it is universal. The illustrations are beautiful, full ...more

Recommends it for: Toddler-Kindergarten
Identity: Inuit authors

Dance with a polar bear, run with the caribou, and howl with the wolves as Siasi stalls throughout her bedtime routine. Kids will love playing along and adults will smirk at Siasi's control over bedtime. In the end, with the patience of the caregivers, even the most stubborn children succumb to sleep.

It's Time For Bed is a wonderfully cute little picture book about being too imaginative to sleep (little me definitely could have related to this, and perhaps adult me does more than she likes as well). The story is cute and sweet and the illustrations are as well. Recommended!

This is a charming tale of a young Inuit child who wants to play with animals instead of getting ready for bed. Very interactive, will definitely encourage participation. The illustrations are darling.

Highly recommended for storytime.

So many things I love about this book! I love the repetition and the movement and sounds involved, as well as the bright illustration. Also written by a Canadian Indigenous author. Can't wait to use it in storytime. Can be used for many themes: noise, movement, bedtime
