"Kartunes," published in 1980, is the first book of poetry by American poet and playwright Cornelius Eady. At the time, the author lived in Princeton, N.J., and was co-editor (with his wife, Sarah Micklem) of "The Shirt Off Your Back," a broadside series of Poetry T-shirts. In this inaugural work, Cornelius’ poems are enhanced by Sarah’s egg tempera illustrations. Cornelius Eady has gone on to publish several other books of poetry, with his work often receiving praise for its simple and approachable language. Eady was born in Rochester, N.Y.
