Poppy, her brother Finn, and their friends, Mike, Charlie and Ella are about to have the most unexpected and amazing school vacation of their lives. During the summer break of 1975, long before cell phones and computer games, these five kids trade homework and bullies for camping, swimming, fishing and exploring the deep woods. It’s what they discover in these woods that is the gateway to adventures beyond their wildest dreams. They meet unique allies and formidable foes, experience love and loss, face a challenging life-saving quest, battle nasty enemies and make new and treasured friends on their journey. They emerge from the forest and return home with a new perspective on life. This incredible experience allows them to conquer every day challenges and to be more accepting of those who struggle. A message of tolerance, equality and respect is woven into this charismatic and fun filled magical adventure.
Did you grow up in the 1970's? I did. Have you ever wondered what it was like to live in a time when there were no cel phones, computers or video games? Even though it sounds boring, it wasn't! I was lucky to experience the 70's as the youngest of four kids, with three older brothers. We were always outside, exploring the woods, hiking, fishing, swimming and riding bikes.
My memories of adventure filled summers, along with a lifetime love of reading and music, spilled from my imagination onto the pages of The Chatterbox Girl.
I also love animals, especially cats and dogs. They really add fun and companionship to our lives. Have you ever wondered what your cat or dog was thinking? What do they do when they follow a trail into the woods? If you read the Chatterbox Girl, you'll find out.
My book was fun to write because the story I have to tell, leads your from a small town in America filled with quirky interesting characters, to a world that could rival Alice's Wonderland!
Let's just say, my motto is: never follow a large orange tiger cat into the woods unless you want your life changed forever!
My latests book, Chatterbox World takes place only two years before Chatterbox Girl. The adventures in Chatterbox World continue with a whole new cast of characters!
My writing is inspired by my extensive library of vintage children's books written by some of my favorite authors; L. Frank Baum, Thornton Burgess, Johnny Gruelle and Beatrix Potter.
Do kids still make little origami fortune teller/cootie catcher/chatterbox/nut cups? They were all the rage when I was in grade school. I bet I could still fold one up if I wanted to. "The Chatterbox Girl" has one of these little gadgets at the heart of it, but it is carved out of something magical, not made of paper.
This was a cute story that read as if it started life as a tale told to some beloved children, not one written to make money. Those are the nicest kind. Some children travel to a magic land, go on quests and help some new friends who turn out to have an interesting connection to their own world after all.
The thing that kept me from rating "The Chatterbox Girl" higher was that the author has some difficulty with transitions. Her changes from one scene to the next are sometimes confusing. I had to go back a paragraph or so to see where the action was really leaving off before I could move on. Nothing some work with a good copy editor couldn't fix.
I received this book free in exchange for an honest review on Goodreads.
The Chatterbox Girl is a wonderful story about friendship and working together. It is an excellent mix of fantasy and reality that kept me enthralled the whole time! This is a great book for all ages and reminds us all to cherish those who help us and to always take chances. I can’t wait to read more from this author!
This book captures the joys of young summer vacations. The adventures these kids find lead to discoveries that will change their lives forever. Beautifully written by a fresh, new author. This tale will bring joy to your heart and even a tear to your eye.
**I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway** Such an evocative read! A glorious description of childhood in a magical world. I did win this but I am positive I would have bought it having read the blurb and it lived up to my expectations. Totally a world I would like to visit.

Wonderful tale of a group of kids adventuring through surprising landscapes. Their discoveries will change how they view the world around them. This is a great story to be read to young children, teenagers and adults will enjoy the characters and numerous plot twists that will surprise the most avid reader.
A story of fun and adventure. The events and places that this group of kids discover will change their lives forever. Thoughtful, deep characters that grow and develop special relationships will alter how people think , feel and act on folks with special needs.
This was the first book I won on Goodreads (early in 2019) and I wish I had it in physical form. I would give it to my niece. The book is just too juvenile to hold my attention, but I am sure a kiddo would love it. Thank you goodreads for the ebook. Perhaps I will get a physical copy for my niece at some point.
This book was so wonderful, the characters were unique and there were unexpected twists and turns. This book is great for all ages, can’t wait to see what else comes from the author !
