The Sacred Hearts MC #13

A Brother's Salvation

Rate this book
Marcie has always lived her life right. A pillar of her community, a savvy businesswoman, a picture-perfect citizen despite a few bumps in the road, she never imagined what it would be like if it all came crashing down. She also never imagined that it would be one of the notorious bikers from around town that would set her back on her feet and put things to rights. Dragon has been The Sacred Hearts’ fearless leader since the club’s inception. He has loved and lost harder, than any member and has had no intentions of ever trying to find love again. Of course, never say never, because that is when things tend to prove you wrong. In this final installment of The Sacred Brotherhood series, two broken souls are mended proving salvation is there if you’re only willing to reach for it.

I have read this series from start to finish a total of 17 books and up until now they were all 5 stars for me. Now on the last book the author had the opportunity to let the readers end this with a HEA for all. Keep the MC legal like Dragon wanted and maybe an epilogue that let us know what was going on in all the boys lives with Dray as President and Dragon living life happy and retired but no...…...you had to start by killing off Doc which I understand but did you have to keep going?? Now I know that this is probably the reality of what happened in real life but THIS ISN'T REAL LIFE!!!!! We (or at least for me) read to escape for a little while not to cry for a man who has been in this from book one. This book I guess did what the author wanted and that was make me feel ALL emotions. I know that these characters probably grew old and died BUT I DIDN'T NEED (OR WANT) TO KNOW THAT!!!! With one book the author ruined the whole series for me!!! I wanted, in my mind, to believe they all lived happily ever after and even the non reality of them never aging in my mind but no Downey had to ruin it. There is no way I would EVER recommend this series to anyone because of this one book!!! Now I am sure I will be the only one who feels this way about this book but this is America and I , thank goodness, can voice my opinion. Most want agree with me and will probably have some harsh comments but this was my honest review and because of this ONE book out of 17 I will never read this author again or recommend it anyone else either .

I waited (im)patiently for this book and it did not disappoint. A perfect ending to a series that I never wanted to end (even though it had to). So, so sad in places but there was hope, love and happiness to balance it. loved the reference to Hunter's Choice - that was definitely a book I loved reading (and now I think it is time to reread)

Love at any age.

First off i loved this book!! Dragon has always been my favorite and this did not disappoint. I'm so thankful that Dragon finds love again, at it was so nice for the woman to be near his age, and not the stereotypical 21 you find in a lot of books. I'm very sad to see the series end, but this was a great book to end it!!

Disappointing Ending

What started out as a great series, crashed and burned at the end. First, I was disappointed with the the abrupt ending of Zeb’s book, but thought we might get some answers to that in this one. Not only didn’t we get any, Zeb and Tiff weren’t even mentioned in this book.
Dragon deserved a better story, and a better h. TBH, Dragon’s book would have been better with no h, just a novella from his perspective on the club, turning it over to Dray, reminiscing about Tilly and catching up on all the other characters from previous books, especially with the author leaving so many things unresolved in the series. Did Dray propose to Everette, Did Reaver and Hayden finally work through their issues, did Shelly get her 6 kids, and again, Zeb and Tiff. When I think back to the beginning, Trigger and Ashton’s story and how it all started, it’s almost hard to believe the same author wrote these last few books, especially this one.

This entire series has been one hell of a rollercoaster ride! Some books were quite awesome, some eh not so much and others just downright unreadable. Still this was one crazy ass journey, getting to know this club, its members, it’s family..everyone had an amazing story to tell and through it all was always the bigger than life presence of their leader, Dragon. Probably the baddest of them all, the one and only alpha with a heart of gold. He was a formidable man who started off pretty sketchy but ended up doing good for his club and people.

I love that he found love again! I love that he found that love with Marcie, her character was a fucking ball buster! She didn’t take crap from anyone including her family, she was a no nonsense lady who loved unconditionally but let you have it without mincing words. She was pretty exceptional! I truly wish every female lead character was like her!!

This was a perfectly imperfect ending to this series. It was so fucking sad with the loss of two beloved characters but because of those losses the book seemed more realistic and true. Not every ending had to be happy, though this ending was nothing short of devastating, I feel that AJD did this series and it’s characters justice with the ending she provided. It was very profound, sweet but so very sad.

I was hoping for a Next Generation spin-off, though most of the time those aren’t as good as the original characters but it would have been nice to know how the club does post Dragon and how all the children end up..one can only hope...

I am completely torn writing this review. The author did a magnificent job of finishing the series, but I honestly didn't want it to end. Don't get me wrong, I get it but the members have become family. I have become engulfed in the series, the members, the extended family. The author sucked me in many books ago and I just don't want to say good bye. My whining being voiced, it is time to discuss the final farewell.

Dragon has been a major character from the very beginning of The Sacred Brothers series. He is the president of Sacred hearts. He is the heart of the club. His actions, his beliefs, his desires, his emotions influence the club and in turn all of the stories. The final story is his and the author's final goodbye. (I can't believe I am about to cry again. URGGGGGGH!)

Dragon is at the cemetery talking to his wife Tilly who died in the crossfire many years ago. In the distance he hears crying in the "Brother" plot section. Marcie is at Cell's gravesite riddled with guilt. Death brings two amazingly strong people together and it will take death to pull them apart.

Dragon shows his true big heart in his actions towards Marcie. How can he not fall for such a strong accepting person.

The respect she gives and earns has put her at the top of my "Favorite Old Lady" list. I won't tell you why because you need to read this. You need to devour every chapter, learning, loving and at times crying. She is just what the Doc ordered for Dragon.

Can I type when my keyboard is blurry?

Listen... I did not sign up for THAT feel trip! This was a wild, roller coaster of a book, let alone a tie up to our much beloved Sacred Hearts. I read far too much of this story through tears.

These were guys I had really grown to love over the last 15+ books I've read in 2 weeks or so. I can't decide if the binge made it better or worse. Watching their HEA was so bittersweet, in that even the happy was laced in bittersweetness.

Marcie was fantastic and I could picture her all the way through being the mother figure for the club and not seeing more of that was my only regret here. Then again, by that point, the club already had so much heart that her appearance was more appreciated than something they needed. Dragon needed her for himself. *sigh* This isn't a review so much as me getting my feels out in words.

Sacred Hearts Forever. Forever Sacred Hearts.

I admit I stopped reading this series after a bit. Trigger, Dray, Ghost, Thirteen were my guys. I admit I didn't read Data and Mali's story and I had to read Blue's and Cell's. Got to say I was both sad and happy at Cell's end. I think it was fitting to end the series with Dragon.
Downey has this ability to create characters that are so powerful they stay with you. Each character is their own but we feel them to our cores. We laugh, we cry, we grieve and celebrate with Downey's characters.
I am not sure what to think of the very ending. Did I find it fitting? Was it for the best? Hmm...yeah Dragon and Sacred Hearts will stay with us forever.

Absolutely amazing

What an emotional ending to an amazing series! These men and women have become a part of me relating to their stories. Watching young boys grow into men, grown men turing their lives around from illegal to legal, family and brotherhood that doesn't judge you for being you. I'm so happy Dragon found love again. I smiled, I laughed, I cried like a baby. I had to step away before writing this because I was so emotional. I'm sad to see this series end. AJ you have taken me on one heck of ride thank you for sharing their story. I can't wait to see what else you have in store with the men and women of Indigo Knights.

My favorite, because it’s Dragon.

Words can not describe what i felt throughout this book. Without giving any spoilers, let me say Dragon’s story was probably my favorite out of all of the Sacred Hearts MC books. It came together perfectly. So much emotions through this read that i laughed, cried, laughed, cried some more. Love is a precious thing when we find the person we’re meant to find. Dragon was always a leader to his men. The wisdom he gave out, the power that he used when someone’s life was on the line. He is true to his people. He learns to be true to himself, and let go of some people he loved dearly.

A beautiful heartfelt ending...

First you need to read the whole series before this book. This book...I laughed....I cried...and repeated the cycle. Dragon's book is one everyone who followed the Sacred Heart series has wanted. The book we got was more than I could have every imagined and was well worth the wait. The end of an era. I want to start it all again because it feels as if I had to say good bye to some dearest friends. That alone shows the kind of writing A.J. Downey is. She draws you in and before you know it you are 100% hooked and involved in the story.

The conclusion to the Sacred Hearts was perfect. I love how the author tied back Cell’s death into the love story of Dragon and Marcie. Now that the series is done I am going to be a bit lost… this series is what had me fall back in love with reading and discover an unknown love for a good biker romance novel.

**spoiler**
I was not prepared for that 11 year jump and Dragon passing, it felt like saying goodbye to a friend after reading (more like binging) this series. My heart is going to take a few days to recover from that.

What a sucky, horrible ending this book has! I'm not sure I'll ever agree with how the author finished off this series or whether I'll be re-reading this book in any hurry. The book itself had a sad, grieving feeling to it, that made it a bit more emotional to read through. The end of the book could have been fine without the epilogue ripping my heart out. I'm going to need a minute....to collect myself...grieve over the ending and find a way to make peace with this series.

I have too many and not enough words at the same time after reading Dragon and Marcie's story. It was the perfect finale to the world of the Sacred Hearts. I really can't say more without giving spoilers, but I will say that you get all of the feels with this one. If you've spent any time in the Sacred Hearts universe you HAVE to read this book!!!

Beautiful end to a wonderful series.

The final book in the Sacred Hearts MC is a wonderfully written book about second chances and forgiveness. Dragon and Marcie are a wonderful couple, both middle aged with scars and regrets. I cannot tell you how grateful I was that Marcie was a contemporary of Dragons. I will warn you to have the tissues handy.

Disappointment

Knowing that this was the last book in this of and this was Dragon's 2nd chance, I was expecting a totally different book. I thought that there would be lots of suspense and action. Boy, was I disappointed. This was one tame and depressing book and terrible ending in a series.

I loved this series

This book in the series was heart rending. I love Dragon and how he leads his club. So much happens in this book where you really see inside him. There have been glimpses of the man he is in other books, but this truly let's you see the man he is. It's a good story. I can't say much more without giving up important parts of the story.

An Amazing Finale!

OMG, the FEELS!!! This was so bittersweet knowing this is the last book for the SHMC...any possibility of a next generation series???!!! I simply adore the Sacred Hearts and their brothers in arms, The Kraken, with all the kids and babies, a Next Gen installment would be a natural next step for the author.

When you read this book make sure you have tissues on hand. Once again I am blown away by how much "A Brother's Salvation" take you for an emotional ride. It is, what I believe, a great way to finish this series. By giving D his second chance. I for one am grateful he did.
A.J. thank you for another great Read

A tear jerker and a heck of a last book

This is the last book in this series. I'm glad Dragon find another lady to love. I really liked Marcie. I'm glad the she was around his age too. There's two really sad and heartbreaking parts in this book. I wished that there was a second epilogue telling us what happened to everyone and their children maybe we will get a next generation.

This book was heartbreakingly beautiful. It brings the series to a perfect conclusion. The characters even after all this time still feel dynamic and strong and this storyline was beautifully written. Can’t say much more without giving the plot away. I feel that you need to read all the Sacred Hearts MC books in order as that is how you get to meet all the characters and their issues.

I freaking love Dragon! This book had me all in my feels. Please read the series before you read this book! I promise you will enjoy this book more when you know more of the characters. But I have to say Dragon would be 10 stars if they were available. Oh! You need a water hose for the heat and a box of tissue for the tears !!!!

What an ending for Dragon …

This is my favorite book from the series . But it do wanted him to live with his Marcie. I wanted to see how Dray handle the President spot and Trigger, Reaver and Blue, the old Ladies. I think that, A.J., didn’t handle this ending like the others in the series. Maybe so, I still love this series. So go ahead and read this series.

Dragon was my favorite

Honestly I loved the series. The ending felt rushed, but maybe that's just me hating endings. If I could go back I probably would have stopped at book 11 and been ok with it. This one is seriously emotional and while it does tell Dragon's story there is no significant plot or character development or closure for the series if that makes sense.
