For centuries, the witches of Starfall have served the people of the fourteen domains while keeping their own secrets close. No one outside their ranks knows their power comes from a ritual that divides each newborn daughter in the witch, infused with magic, and the doppelganger, a soulless shell that is soon destroyed.
Not all of the doppelgangers are dead, though, and their battle to survive will plunge Starfall into crisis. So long as her doppelganger lives, a witch cannot control her magic. But there are secrets even the witches do not know, and the doppelgangers hold power of their own . . .
This omnibus includes the novels from the novel duology Warrior and Witch, as well as the prequel novella Dancing the Warrior.
Marie Brennan is a former anthropologist and folklorist who shamelessly pillages her academic fields for material. She recently misapplied her professors' hard work to Turning Darkness Into Light, a sequel to the Hugo Award-nominated series The Memoirs of Lady Trent. As half of M.A. Carrick, she is also the author of The Mask of Mirrors, first in the Rook and Rose trilogy. For more information, visit swantower.com, Twitter @swan_tower, or her Patreon.
These books caught my heart within pages of reading. The main character Mirage is admirable, relatable and the story line flows smoothly. I rarely find books that draw me into the world but this one certainly did. I like it so much that I got physical copies of Warrior and Witch as well as a ebook for my kindle. If you like reading about a heroine who has supernatural skills, a strong moral compass, and a witch who has pledged her life to studying her craft and unlocking unprecedented powers than you’ll love these books. The omnibus includes more of the story of seniade, which really develops the main characters life before all the chaos breaks loose. Recommend highly.
