One hundred years ago, a sheriff’s posse killed dark warlock Rhyfel Gremory, but his witch-disciples escaped, and their magic made them nearly immortal. To keep their power, each year one of the witch-disciples kills a descendant of one of the men in the posse, a twelve-year cycle that has cost dozens of lives, including that of Seth Tanner’s brother, Jesse.

When this author published the first book from this series, Witchbane, I was duly impressed with how she nailed that story since it was her first foray into M/M. Now with several more in the genre under her belt, she’s turned out an even stronger story here with Dark Rivers, the second book in the Witchbane series. Already a solid writer in urban fantasy, Dark Rivers showcases that talent brilliantly while continuing to build on the lore created in Witchbane.

We join Seth and Evan (he prefers be

Dark Rivers is the second full book in Morgan Brice’s engaging Witchbane series, following Witchbane and the novella Burn. Brice has created a really fascinating set up for her series, establishing the conflict in book one. Each year, one of the twelve witch-disciples murders a descendant of the sheriff’s posse who killed their mentor. This gives the series some interesting structure as there are new murders to prevent and new victims to protect as these guys go alo

This is the second novel in the Witchbane series, a direct sequel to Burn, the novella that takes place between the first novel, Witchbane, and this one, Dark Rivers. The still-fairly-new relationship between Seth and Evan grows stronger as they continue in their mission to protect the innocent from a line of vengeful disciples of an evil warlock, and as Evan comes face-to-face with an enemy from his past, his abusive ex. There’s a scene fairly early in the novel when Evan has a nightmare, reliv ...more

After getting rid of one of witch-disciples of Rhyfel Gremory, Seth and Evan hunt down another one of them, who according to their informants lives in Pittsburgh. Without knowing his assumed identity, the hunters are forced to follow the often vague leads they find during their investigation. This time Seth decides to hire a private investigator who, knowing the right people and having access to old archives, can be an invaluable help

I’m already a huge fan of this series, and this author. Dark Rivers is a great addition to her Witchbane series. I couldn’t put it down. The author writes a fabulous, edge-of-seat action scene, and I had to keep reading to make sure (spoiler) was okay.

I loved the addition of new characters to this story and in particular Travis and Brent who are the MCs from a forthcoming new series. It was great having a wider team come together to face off against the bad guy, with each man bringing his own s

Witches, Magic, and Mystery meet in this MM romance with a chosen family theme

*I received an ARC and voluntarily reviewed this book*

This is the second book in the Witchbane series and really should not be read as a standalone. This book is a continuation of where book 1 left off and continues to follow Evan and Seth through more hunting and relationship adventures.

This was a good book. I would say it was better than book 1. The author took the criticism of book 1 having too much sexy ti

The action is ramping up. Well, it eventually does. We're "treated" to the leg-work aspect of hunting down immortal dark witches and while the pacing suffers sometimes, it's interesting to see all the work they put into investigating all the leads, locations, and connections necessary to finding the villain. We also get to see more of the relationship angst as well as Evan's hard road to recovery from his involvement in the bloody events of Witchbane. There were quite a few things that could hav ...more

This is the third book of Morgan Brice that I've read and the second Witchbane book, and I can honestly say the author keeps getting better and better. In this book they deliver on the promise made in Witchbane, with more back story of both Seth and Evan as well as a fleshing out of a great plot. The world building continues and it is one amazing world they are creating.

In a continuation of Witchbane and Burn, the novella, the main characters Seth Tanner and Evan Malone are continuing to hunt fo

Since reading this book, I've read the previous book in the series. Yes, it was that good! I was surprised to discover that this series is the author's first foray into mm writing, she certainly does it well.

I like both Evan and Seth, they're very well written and work well together, both as romantic partners and a team. In this story Evan begins finding his feet, and develops as a hunter in his own right. The pace of the story is a good one, with a lot going on and the MCs developing friendsh

*I voluntarily read this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one else's*

Seth and Evan are trying to hunt down the next witch discipline but things don’t go according to plan.

Evan has come along way but his past still haunts him. He’s learnt a lot from Seth from self defence to magik and he uses everything to his advantage when the time comes. Evan was a total badass when it came to facing his past and I was rooting for him all the way.

There was one moment where Seth started havi

Book #2 in the Witchbane series by Morgan Brice. Seth and Evan continue their quest to discover and destroy the witch-disciples, while at the same time continuing to stumble through and delightfully grow in their still fairly new relationship. It was nice to see Evan become a more independent and confident partner, even as he struggles with past scars. His successful attempts at rote magic found me cheering him aloud. :) I love the glimpses of Seth’s vulnerable side, showing his fear and commitm ...more

In this second addition, the boys are on the trail of the next disciple. Again the story kept me on the edge of my seat. I loved the "detective" like work that goes on tracking down all the leads and connections in trying to find the bad guy. On top of that, Evan & Seth are trying to work their way through their relationship. It's not easy to come off of the trauma from book one & then basically moving in together in such tight quarters. But I have confidence, things will be okay. It's j ...more

My new favourite author

I never reiterate the blurb like a lot of reviews. It really is a testament to the imaginative writing from this author. The characterisation and paranormal suspense storylines are full of action, paranormal entities and hot mm romance/drama.

If this is a preferred genre of yours I highly recommend you read ALL the Witchbane & Badlands novels as you will not be disappointed.

I cannot wait for the next instalment from both series. Each book has a complete story with a pro

Evan and Seth continue their search for the next witch-disciple. Their relationship still new enough that they both have doubts as to whether the depth of feelings they have is real and not a reaction to everything they’ve been through.

Once they get into the hunt it becomes their sole focus. When their lives are again in jeopardy they have to depend on each other and the friends they’ve made to defeat the witch.

Another good book in the series. I liked how they had to work at their relationship.

Oh, I really enjoyed this book in the series. To see Seth and Evan settle into their relationship was heartwarming, it’s like they have been together for much longer than they have been. My favorite part however, is the addition of more characters. I love that they are building a community of friends and hunters. I definitely hope we see more of Brandon and Alex, and I really would love to see Travis’ backstory. The tale was really interesting and I really enjoyed the buildup and the big fight t ...more

Again shades of Supernatural in Seth’s character. Loved it. Evan and Seth are now partners hunting the evil warlock serial killers. Overall I loved the story, and the introduction of the new hunters will broaden the dynamics of this series. The story starts off a little slow with too much reiteration and details from the first book. I’m a firm believer of letting readers read the first book Of a series. Referencing the first book, no problem, but don’t drag the readers with the entire story agai ...more

Dark Rivers was great! In his quest for revenge for his brother's murder, Seth is on the trail of witch disciples who are using ritualistic murder to keep power. He and Evan are still together and learning to work as a team as they fight to prevent more killings. This story has it all! It has mystery, paranormal, action and romance plus it's written in a way that I'm on the edge of my seat the whole time! This book introduces new characters that I look forward to reading about and I can't wait f ...more

Morgan Brice continues to develop the Witchbane world and mythology with this latest installment in the series, and the result is an exciting urban fantasy with a relationship you can't help but cheer for. I love Seth and Evan even more in Dark Rivers. We get to learn more about each man and their pasts, and I love seeing their relationship growing deeper. But their hunt still beckons and there are people working against them, so there is also plenty of suspense and danger and killing and witch- ...more

I received this book by the author and this is my honest opinion.
This is the carry on from the first book and follows Seth and Evan and there quest to defeat the evil warlock who has caused so much destruction to countless families including Seth who's brother was unwittingly made a sacrifice.
It was well written and great world building once again that I read this quickly the words just flowing straight from the page. The author gave us more emotional story telling in this book of there relation

Really interesting UF story. Not only are we getting a relatively unique take on magical vengeance, we also get to see our heroes working on building their relationship, which is pretty nice. I always like that. And I really do like that they do have bumps and bangs along the way, because no relationship is perfect, and the pressure that they have been under may have strengthened their connection, but the guys are still pretty new to each other.

This is the second book in The Witchbane Series. A spellbinding book the writing was good. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters captivating. The characters were developed and thought out. Evan and Seth are the MC’s of this book. I can recommend this book as a good read. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.

Just love Seth and Evan. This continuation to ridding the world of the evil witches is ever bit as good as the first book. I love the depth of the story telling, writing, and of course the hot romance. Excited to read the next book! Thanks for the arc.
