When reading this story the question you have to ask your self repeatedly is:

“What is the Fusion World Project?”

Because while reading the first hundred pages or so, the reader doesn’t know. This story is written as if you are coming into a TV show in the middle of a season. This might seem a bit discombobulating for some readers, but for me, I was intrigued. I wanted to know more about the characters, and why they were reacting the way they did. The author keeps you in the dark a bit, doling out pieces of information as the story progresses until you can put everything together like a jigsaw puzzle in the end. Often when authors write multiple books in a series, each book is a mini story in of itself. Each book has a small story arc that plays into a much larger story arc. This does have a story arc, but instead, I felt like I was reading one part of a single story. But, I know that this story is only laying the general framework for great things to come.

One thing that completely floored me was the ending. As I said, I spent a lot of this book grasping at the pieces of the story and slowly building the backstories. But, right around the 75% mark, BAM. Everything began to fall into place and I audibly said “Oh Holy Shit” a few times. Tamone brought everything together and I was cheering for the characters.

A fun parallel I drew while reading this story was the Philanthropy Team was a ragtag group of members. All had different strengths and weaknesses trying to overcome huge odds. It made me think of the 80’s movie Red Dawn. The writing is much better in this story, but I could just imagine Sajaler shouting “PHILANTHROPY” while spray painting it on an enemy tank.

I had a lot of fun reading this story. Even when it felt disjointed in the beginning, it still had amazing dialog and character creation. I am looking forward to the next book where Tamone feels even more comfortable in the characters and they stretch out a bit. Give this story a try, you will dig it. It is a great example of science fiction.

I love a good science-fiction read, and Joseph Lewis Tamone certainly offers up an addictive addition to the genre with the first Philanthropy book. With Fusion World, we’re introduced to an interesting story that will leave readers desperate to see what the next book in the series will bring.

With Fusion World, we have one of those science-fiction reads where the science-fiction is prominent without being heavy. The scientific aspects of the story certainly play a large role in what is happening, but the story focuses more upon the characters and the war taking place. It’s one of those science-fiction novels perfect for reads that prefer their science-fiction to be on the lighter side of things.

Although I usually prefer heavier science-fiction, I found myself easily sucked into this one. I was curious about how things would come together and was happy with the way details came together in the end. The only thing that didn’t really work for me was the characters. I know many will love them, but I’m not crazy about the current trend whereby almost juvenile humour is used in serious situations. It’s entertaining once or twice, but the current trend seems to be taking it to extremes. Those enjoying the current trend, however, will have a lot of fun with the constant one-liners from characters.

Overall, Fusion World was an interesting start to what promises to be an addictive series, and I’m curious to see what the second book brings.

"Your plan is to have five people sabotage an entire army?"

When all hope is lost, the people of Rafia must use Defence Protocal CRD-EP-411. Can the two worlds come to peace of will the Fusion World device destroy everyone?

Firstly, thank you to Chandra Press for contacting me with a free copy of this book. It has left me hooked and I have 2 things to say:

1 - Wow!

2 - When is the next one available? Because I would buy it today if it were available!

The book is cleverly written to keep the readers hooked from start to finish. You really are left wondering and wanting to know more about the characters and who is supposed to be the good guys?

Reading this book is similar to looking at a mosaic picture up close and slowly walking backwards. The writer slowly drips in enough information for you to be able to follow the story and keep you guessing and intrigued right up until about 80% of the way through the book when everything falls into place. I wouldn't say it was a twist, looking back everything just makes more sense now.

There were a few times when I had to go back and check who the character was. Jallaven Grandel, for example, is in the prison with Vai Kogan but disappears after the attack started. He later reappears and upon reading his name I found myself thinking 'I know that name'. A quick flick back and I was back on track.

The character that intrigued me the most was the utterly terrifying Raven. She is a highly skilled assassin and we watch her transformation until she is accepted as a team player. The writer really hooked me here and I was invested in her journey, I still want know more about her and her abilities.

In conclusion, I think is the first of great things to come. I am thoroughly looking forward to reading the next book. Hopefully we do not have to wait too long!

charatersFusion World by Joseph Tamone is science-fiction at its finest.

I thought I would read the opening page or two while on a quick break from writing. Next thing I know, it's an hour later, so I think I can safely say the book grabbed me in the opening paragraph.

The world-building skills of Joseph Tamone are exceptional. There are already some extraordinary science fiction worlds in publication, and this book ranks with the best. The characters are well-defined and grow through-out the story. I quickly became invested in their thoughts, actions, and futures.

I love the humor, wit, and sarcasm of the characters in Fusion World. In my opinion, the dialogue is what makes this book a winner.

Now that I have had a taste of this author's writing, I can't wait to read more. I hope there is a sequel on the way.

The book is as bad as this guy is unhinged. I don't usually care much about what an author does in real life, but this guy is pretty nuts on Twitter.

I really liked this book. I’m not really sure why, but I’ll try my best to not just say “there just something about it”. The story itself has a some very moral, heavy arguments at the core of it but the story itself remains fun. The characters, at first are not very likable, and seem to only exist in an effort to move the plot to different physical areas, but... they started to grow on me. I found myself looking forward to each of their story-lines. I liked the way that, even during stressful and intense moment, they are cracking jokes, riffing on each other, and being annoying; being real people.

It was always surprising what good people so many of the characters were, dropping everything to help a stranger, even when they didn’t mean to.

This book is full of action from start to finish, but it doesn’t feel rushed. I would describe it as an action, sci-fi, comedy. I just kept wanting to read more and see more of their world… which is so much like our own, but also, so different. Hearing the history of what devastated the parallel world, and how they have lived. Yes, there are parallel worlds.

Some of the characters feel very surface level and could use some more of a look into their lives and thoughts - I just wanted to know more about them. But I think this book has a very unique voice.

This book ended with a “book 2 in the works” stinger and, I have to say, I definitely want to read it.
