I adore this series so much and couldn't wait to get started on this one.
As usual, this cleverly amps up the tension from page one leaving me with an atmosphere of mystique and an almost latent sense of menace.
This plays out almost like a puzzle unfolding where we are taken on a journey through flashbacks and also real time.
I was agog with fascination and couldn't put this down: aboard that train till the bitter end: despite the ominous feeling of dread I had deep down in my stomach I c

I went into the book complete blind as the blurb doesn’t give much. I just knew that this is a dark read, that’s all.

Emerald doesn’t remember her past since the accident. She keeps getting flashbacks. She writes them down. She decides to go to an island to write a story about her flashbacks. She meets a stranger when she arrives there. He saves her from accidentally drowning. His name is Micaden. She keeps bumping into him. He is nothing but rude to her. (view spoiler)
The story itself was good. I read it in one go, wanting and needing to know what happened.

Sadly I couldn't see the love between the Hero and the Heroine. I felt the Hate he had for her, his need for revenge. But other than that, nothing. The flashbacks didn't help. They fell in love in the past and the reader only experiences through a "story" told by the Heroine. It lacked feeling.

The ending was a bit unsatisfying. They don't talk about what happened to them, about their feelings and what comes

"Everyone has to pay for what they've done to me. Especially her."

Ahh I could not put this book down! I just had to know their story. And it was beautifully tragic...

Emerald and Micaden met when she went to stay with her grandma during her summer vacation. She came from a rich well connected family and he was an orphan. They developed an instant connection which went wrong fast and thus their tragic love affair began... That is a

The way this story unfolded was really clever. It was like a intricately designed web that unravels in bits and pieces. One character hell-bent on vengeance and one so lost that nothing makes sense.

Micaden is part of a brotherhood that I have been introduced to before. Because there is nothing like a group of broken and messed up killers to keep me all over the series. Saying that you do not need to have read any of the other character's books because the author does a good job of getting you to

And I think this is my new fav from V.F. Mason!

Review to follow, but first Psychopath’s Prey... I don’t know why I didn’t read that one, so here I go.

Micaden's Madness was a very complex and consuming story that I could not stop reading. I was consumed right from the get go and was so hooked on Micaden and Emerald's story. It was shocking, heartbreaking, intense, suspenseful and crazy addicting. I could not stop reading!

Without giving away any spoilers, this story was very intricate. Tiny details were revealed slowly and it was up to the reader to put it together. It was basically a story within a story told in riveting flashbacks. It was be

In the company of killers and completely unaware. Outstanding!

In a nutshell, Micaden's Madness is tragically beautiful, much like Shakespeare, which the author quotes at the beginning of each chapter, Brochan and Emerald's story will break even the hardest heart. I loved the intricacies of the dual storylines and how Mason manages to bring it all together epically. Moral of this story, never assume you know the whole story until you hear it from the source.

Be warned, this tale is told w

I love dark romance and this one hit the spot from beginning to end. Micaden is out for revenge and nothing and nobody will stop him. Emerald is missing parts of her life not knowing what’s real or fake is such a mystery to her. Will Micaden be the one to help Emerald or is she part of his revenge? This book is dark, intense and even twisted in parts. 5/5 stars

V.F. Mason is the author that when I see her book on my kindle, it no longer matters if there are books ahead of hers in the queue or if I'm behind on others reviews or even if I'm behind on life, everything is put to a halt until I finish the new installment of whatever series she's offering. Problem is, half way through, I begin to get anxious and dread hits my stomach like a lead ball, because I know it's all about to come to an end and I'll have to wait on her to crank out her next work of a ...more

Micaden’s Madness is the third book I’ve read by this truly gifted talented author.
Dark Romance is one of my favorite genres. So I’ve read a lot of them.
Ms. Mason writes dark romance to perfection.
She blends the perfect amount of everything, suspense, mystery, depravation, darkness and sexiness.
Her writing is so descriptive it feels like I’m watching everything happening in front of me instead of me reading it.
Her characters are strong, they are resilient and they are unforgettable!

If you love dark romance than look no further. V.F. Mason gives any dark romance author a run for their money. This book had it all.. love, revenge, betrayal and it will keep you hooked page after page. For me personally it took me a little bit to get into the book. The beginning moved a little slow but soon it picked up pace and I was not able to put it down until I finished it.

V.F. Mason does an amazing job of giving you the present story as well as the flashbacks of the past. Emerald is miss

I loved Micaden/Brochan's story. And I was thoroughly surprised by the appearance of Lachlan and Arson and a few others!
My heart broke for Emerald... what she endured, what was done to her, oh my, I can't believe she survived so much pain and heartache!
V.F. Mason writes characters that you either love to love or love to hate, and sometimes a combination of both.

Micaden's Madness by V.F. Mason is the love story of Micaden and Emerald.
Both Micaden and Emerald have sad and rough tragic pasts that so very hard to take in. Emerald is having a hard time knowing which memories are real or made up(lies) in her head due to an accident when she was younger. Whereas Emerald cant remember, Micaden remembers everything and is seeking vengeance with a capital "V". Their story isn't pretty but pretty dark romance so just know, if you aren't a fan of this type of gen

I always love V.F Mason's books and this was no exception!! This is my third book of the author after - Psychopath's Prey and Lachlan's Protege. Both of them were excellent read and Micaden's Madness comes on the same shelf and also makes for a very engaging and interesting read. The trademark elements of the author are present in abundance in this book as well - the darkness, misunderstandings, torture, agony of separation, angst, a need to kill, necessity of survive, anger, wrath, bloodshed an ...more

This is a dark romance that contains some triggers so a bit of warning to the sensitive readers. I must say though that this author is one of the best in this genre and this book got me hooked and emotionally invested in Brochan and Emerald’s tragic story.

I’m wondering why I have never picked up one of this authors books before? She is brilliant at creating suspense. These pages have captivated me from the very beginning and I don’t want to stop reading.

The only thing that seemed wrong with this book (that I found) was the sex scenes. They didn’t fit 🤷‍♀️ Micaden is so rude and nasty to Emerald yet she still has sex with him. I find it hard to believe she would. I don’t think the sex was needed so early on and so unexpectedly if at all.

It is very hard to gather my thoughts because this book totally blew my mind away. After Lachlan's Protégé I was thinking, this cannot get any better. But V.F. Mason proved me wrong again, of course. She topped one of her best books with the bestest. Yeah, it is a word, look it up. Next to it is a picture of V.F. Mason. Although, I should not have been so surprised since all of her books are masterpieces.

I'm not sure if I was expecting something different or if I was supposed to read another book before this, but Micaden's Madness just didn't stick with me. Usually I'm all for twisted and dark with a major bad boy with issues but for the most part I felt like a missing something which kept me from fully enjoying this. The story of Micaden and Emerald was interesting and although seriously tragic was told quite tastefully. There was however so much focus on Emerald and her problems

4.5 stars. I was deeply intrigued by the synopsis, but I really wasn’t sure what to except as this was my first book by this author. If you are looking for a dark, well-written romance, then you will like this book. It is a story of intense love, betrayal and revenge. Micaden evolved from a sweet young man, to a honed killer with a thirst for vengeance given a betrayal and the aftermath that he experienced. Emerald has missing memories after an accident, but pieces of her past are slowly coming ...more

Well I loved Lachlan’s Protégé, but this was unputdownable. We are still with the dark subject matter, so you have been warned.
When I starting to read the book, I thought I start to read a little bit before bed. Then I started this compelling and gripping read, and the next thing I notice is that its light outside and I had read all night.

I am trying to figure out just what to say in this review.... This is my first book by the author and though I am giving just 3.5 stars for this book, it will not be my last. The story itself is really good I just am not a fan of reading from past to present to past you get the picture. I'm the kinda girl that likes to read things in order as they happen. Now with this being said I really liked the premise of the storyline. There is mystery, darkness, and it is has parts of psychological thrille ...more

I just finished this book and it makes me want to pick it up all over again, start from the beginning to go through everything that happened again. I loved the rollercoaster ride of Emerald and Mccaden. Two people so different but alike at the same time. It’s as if they were two pieces of the same puzzle. Just waiting to be put together. There was very little I did not like. Things such as the ‘bad guy’ in this story. You get confused as to who that might be until the end. But there is little to ...more

After having read Lachlan's Protege, my first of this author's books, i just knew i had to read more.
Micaden's Madness is a stand alone but the characters are seen in other books by the author.
If im truly honest, my review for this review book could just be a copy and paste of my review for Lachlan's Protege.
It has got all the classic content of a dark romance. There's a whole wealth of angst, passion and drama.

This book was pure trauma for both Micaden and Emerald, both physical and emotional. My heart was breaking for them both. This was a little bit of a love story, but mostly hate, trauma and revenge. I am hooked on this series. This one is as good as the previous books in this series. Yes they tend to all blend with the story and the characters being the same. Except for a little thing here or there but in the end I like it.
