Okay, let's face it. My mom and I are never going to have a "normal" mother-daughter relationship because my mom isn't just my mother, she's my best friend. She would do anything for me, including asking her parents for the tuition money to send me to Chilton, this prestigious prep school that just accepted me. That was probably one of the toughest things she's ever done, ...more

I am a complete and utter Gilmore Girl freak. Lorelai and Rory are amazing. So naturally I am buying the books with every Amazon gift card I get! Completely to the disgruntlement of my family. They really don't care that much, but there is a definite confusion about how I could like such 'dreck.' I find they're the perfect companion books for a college student. Stress relieving and easy to put down or pick up in a second. The paperbacks are also the perfect pocket size. Hoodie or cargo pants tha ...more

5 Stars!

My name is Lorelai Gilmore. However, since my mom is also called Lorelai Gilmore and she got here first, she has dibs on the full name so people call me Rory. And a name is not the only thing we share.

If you know me, you probably know about my crazy obsession with Gilmore Girls. Growing up, I’ve always wanted to be Rory Gilmore, and it was because of her I started reading books. She’s my best friend, and a part of my heart will always belong with her. Oh, and if you ever catch me wit

it’s been a super long time since i paid a visit to stars hollow, either in the form of watching the show or reading these books. so i decided to remedy that by pulling this one off the shelf. ☺️📚

and it definitely took me back to the early 2000’s, and coffee at luke’s, friday night dinners at emily and richard’s, first kisses with dean at doose’s market, lane and her crazy mom who doesn’t like her playing cds too loud, ugh the nostalgia is SO REAL. ☕️🥮💋💿🍁🍂

i freaking LOVE stars hollow and lorelai

This is a book about Rory Gilmore. Daughter of Loralei Gimore and granddaughter to Emily and Richard Gilmore. In this book we are introduced to most of the characters from the tv series, there are quite a few , all memorable and funny and wonderful. This book finishes up Rory's school life in Star's Hollow and she starts at her new school Chilton.Just as she is finishing up her first school she meets the lovely Dean .. this leaves her having second thoughts about changing schools. There is a lot ...more

Adapted by Catherine Clark, “Like Mother, Like Daughter” is the first in a series of four young adult novels based on the “Gilmore Girls” television series starring Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel. All four books are related in the first person by Rory Gilmore, and the story line follows that of the first few episodes of the television series, using exact quotations from the dialogue. The eight pages of photos located in the center of each book are captioned and are taken from “Gilmore Girls” as ...more

I'm a huge Gilmore Girls fan so, for Christmas I asked for the DVD box set, which showed up under the tree along with the four Gilmore Girls books that were published!

The first book was fine. I laughed aloud at some of my favorite lines, which appear in print. The books are from Rory's POV, which is cool, but that means Lorelai and Luke and Lorelai and Emily parts are eliminated and I was kinda missing those. I'm excited for the other three books, but if you're not a big reader or you're not a f

I didn’t really know how to rate this. I love the show, and this is the exact replica of the show. Same words, same quotes, same everything. I could imagine everything.

Taking this book for what it is, a silly, light little made-from-TV adaptation of the GG script, this book was wonderfully satisfying.
The fact that this book is told exclusively from Rory's perspective speaks to its intended audience, Rory-aged, freshly-teened girls, but it also has interesting consequences for the GG universe, considering the intersections of show and book. The sections of this book which aren't directly quoting from the show's dialogue or describing outfits or settings from t

A book based off of the hit television show poses new challenges to the written text. For example, not everything can be included in one book – especially when one book spans the time of several episodes. So, a lot is left out. That being said, the descriptions and the dialogue are word for word the same as the show, and therefore make visualizing the sequence of events quite easy for anyone who has already seen the show.
Because it's based on the television show, and not the other way around,

Basically watching the TV show but through Rory's eyes. It's a bit better for her character in my opinion, to see how she thinks and understands things differently.

If you're a fan, you'll love these books.
I'll be breezing through them one by one throughout next week. Gives me the Gilmore Girls chills!

As a huge fan of Gilmore Girls, I was excited to find that I could get even more of the absolute best mother/daughter combo on television in book format. If you're familiar with the show, the books come straight from the produced series - I promise, you will hear the voices of Rory, Lorelei, and Emily as you read.

If you have NOT watched the series, it is a MUST-SEE and skip the books! Gilmore Girls had some of the greatest, most clever writing on television and was overlooked by many (including

Recommends it for: fans of the tv show Gilmore Girls
For a fan, it's nice to have a copy of this book, but if you're not a fan of a tv show, I don't recommend it.
The whole story is's from Rory's point of view and it consists of lines from the episodes "Pilot", "The Lorelai's First Day at Chilton", "Kiss and Tell", "Rory's Dance" and "Forgiveness and Stuff". Of course, I knew this before, but I thought there will be something new. Maybe Rory's thoughts, opinions, situations that didn't make in to the episodes. Most of the time there is direct speec

This is a must read for hard-core Gilmore Girls fans! Its basically a re-cap of the first few episodes of season 1. Now if you are like me and you have seen all 7 seasons more than you should mention in public, then this book will be a nice change for you.

There is nothing new or added in, but it makes a very pleasant and relaxed read. I would be surprised if anyone could resist not watching Gilmore Girls straight after reading this book.

Funny, entertaining and always witty, Lorelai an

Mildy amusing. It's like having a portable version of Season One with you wherever you go.

What I really enjoyed was the opportunity to read all of the references rather than hear them. It's easy to miss some of the more hilarious ones with the pace of the show's dialogue.

I plan on reading the rest of the series.

The book nicely captures the Gilmore Girls essence - at least concerning Rory's part of it.
It follows the series script and with reading the dialogue I remembered the scenes from the episodes, which were nice to re-live.
I did miss Lorelai, since it was Rory telling her part of the story.
Really nice YA-book for Gilmore Girls fans.

I love the show Gilmore Girls so I thought I would love this book however I didn't like it at all. To me they basically just took out what Rory says in the show and added a few details into it. I didn't make it through the whole thing because I kept imagining what the show was doing. I would recommend this book to someone who hasn't seen the shows first. ...more

The book sticks very very close to the TV show, with the small difference that all events are told from Rorys point of view - it's kind of her diary.
For a fan of the "Gilmore Girls" it's like re-viewing the episodes in the head.

This book is part 1 and covers the first couple of episodes.

I enjoyed it! After reading the book, I think I'd like the show but I've never seen it since I don't have cable. Lorelei seems like a fun Mom -- wouldn't have minded having a Mom like that myself. But I do have a couple friends like that. Never a dull moment! ...more
