When I found out that this series will consist of 12 books, I was like, "Why make a three-book set, then? What about the other nine?" It does seem like a little excessive, but if they make boxed sets of the next three and so on, there will be 4 boxed sets and maybe also a complete boxed set... who knows? They do make great gifts, though.

What a marvelous story this was. Much magic with such passion and emotion throughout guaranteed to keep your attention without fail. Full of witches, wizards and dragons . It was easy to bond with the characters although , personally, when the story kept switching to each characters perspective, was a little disconcerting. However, I appreciate that this needs to be done so that you have a more complete picture in your head as to where the story is leading.

I didn't finish the preview. Because the foundation story, world build, didn't make sense. You would say the magic women were reclusive rarely seen. Then the next page you talk of these women as the mayor's wise persons of their communities. Opposite of what you just said. The magic children honored, and tested for magic but then say that magic is not allowed. You can't have a world where the culture honors magic and prohibits it at the same time. If it's prohibited then the culture would hi ...more

I was really taken up with the Heart of the Citadel series. It was light and refreshing and easy to read. I often found myself sitting up later than I expected as I just couldn't put it down. Kudos to Susan Faw as she did an excellent job of stringing me along. So I ask myself - is there more. I know there is.

This is an thrilling adventure in a world under the stifling rule of an evil emperor. He is such a nasty piece of work that I found myself wishing for his demise. A painful demise. Full of humiliation. I loved reading this set and all the other characters are great!
