The castle has become lively with the addition of a butler and a daughter, and as Zagan and Nephy's awkward days continue, Nephy is suddenly attacked in town. And the one who attacked her... is a girl who looks identical to Nephy, but with dark skin?! Immediately following that incident, Zagan receives an invitation from an Archdemon to an evening ball on a boat?! The residents of Zagan's castle head off toward a luxurious party, fully aware of the danger!
After having a rough week and also upon realising that I didn't have too much longer to read this before the pre-pub expired, I read the whole thing in a day. Honestly, it was exactly what I needed - just the right amount of fluff - and I enjoyed it a lot! I'm not sure why Regardless, I'm definitely going to continue on with this series. :)
For me it took a little bit to get going for this book, but once it did I enjoyed it. I certainly liked the bits of lore and world building that came up. If I had one complaint (and it isn't just this series) -- I'd like to see after a couple of books the author using their existing cast instead of continually adding new characters. We don't need a new cast every book. In fact it detracts from the characters that we already know and love.
Anyhow, I'll be reading more of these over time...
