Victorious Heart: Finding Hope and Healing After a Devastating Loss

Rate this book
In Victorious Heart , winner of the 2020 Independent Press Award, Kim Peacock shares how God’s grace helped her through the loss of her child with faith, healing, and hope in the midst of tragedy. Have you found yourself in a broken place, defined by the loss of a loved one? Grief is not something that can be fixed or cured, but rather is proof that someone is missing a part of themselves―a normal response to loss. In Victorious Heart , Kim Peacock shares the story of the devastating loss of her oldest daughter, Nicole. She bares the deepest sorrow of her life, but also reveals how the Lord carried her through―and is still carrying her through―turning her pain into a beautiful story of hope and healing. Victorious Heart reassures readers they are not alone, helps them manage some of the difficult “firsts” like birthdays and holidays and shows them how to protect their mind and avoid the “Blame Game.” Grieving family members learn that it’s okay to laugh again, in time, and that they too can have a Victorious Heart of hope in the midst of their biggest sorrow.

I loved Victorious Heart and it's Five Stars in every way. I've read many books on grieving as unfortunately I am part of this club because I lost my fifteen year old son and husband together. I loved the layout of the book which starts each chapter with a Bible verse, the chapters are short, meaningful and relevant. She told her story but it was easy for the reader to be part of the story and see themselves in it. There were lots of valuable take aways which I appreciated. Especially valuable and usable were at the end of each chapter were the Grief Notes and Love Them Well. If someone is hurting from loss or wants to be a support I strongly recommend this book. I will be buying more copies in the future.

The author did an excellent job vulnerably sharing her grief journey of the tragic loss of her 17 year old Nicole. Beautifully written and bravely honest, her words are relatable to anyone experiencing grief of any kind. What makes this book unique are her 'grief notes' and 'love them well' notes at the end of each chapter. No matter which side of grief you find yourself on, whether in your own journey or walking alongside a loved one, this book will not only equip you but touch your heart deeply as well.
