After nearly thirty years of active duty, retired US Navy SEAL Commander Gabriel Michaels has finally found peace. No tangoes, no red tape, no women — just his rifle, his fishing pole, and his loyal coon hound on a pristine piece of lakefront heaven.
But when the Assistant Director of Homeland Security asks for his help, he can’t say no to his old friend. Especially when the stakes are so high.
As a single, mature, working woman, Virginia Miller’s life isn’t exactly filled with suspense and intrigue. Her job as administrative assistant to one of the wealthiest men in the free world means her days involve a lot of work and little time to play.
That all changes when her boss goes missing and she suddenly finds herself in “protective custody” with the most infuriating man on the planet. Not only does Gabriel believe her employer is a traitor to their country, but that she’s the key to taking him down.

Title: SEAL Out of Water Author: Abbie Zanders Publication Date: 6-11-2019
Good flow was immediately evident and I connected with our H Gabe right away. We get a cameo of my beloved Kane “Iceman” Callaghan and an intriguing storyline that grabs you and doesn’t let go. Virginia proved to be an interesting heroine and her calm personality in the face of what was going on was impressive.
In a house filled with people that are tight lipped and less than forthcoming we don’t know who can be trusted and how truthful they are being.
Government machinations have proved retirement is for the best and Gabe is happy with his dog and fishing. At the funeral of a retired friend he is offered a chance to right a wrong and he grudgingly accepts a job offer.
Virginia’s job as a personal assistant to the obscenely wealthy Christos Kristikos has people believing she knows more than she actually does. The disappearance of her employer has tensions on the estate running high and her already strained relationship with the other staff members is growing daily as no resolution to his disappearance is forthcoming.
I’m loving this multi author Seal series. I’ve read each book so far and I can honestly say that even tho each author brings in members of their previous series the stories flow effortlessly. Gabe and Virginia met in unusual circumstances and as I was reading I was comfortable whilst reading and it felt like a slow burn kinda story. It was like we were waiting for the axe to fall so to speak. Then everything changes. Everything you think you knew went out the window. This story has a sting in the tail. One I never saw coming. So clever Ms Zanders. Well written, compulsive reading. Great addition to this highly entertaining series.
Wow! I have read many of Abbie's books before so I suppose I should not have been surprised, but it was amazing. Just when I was getting bored with how I thought things were going, in my opinion, that's when things picked up. Absolutely fantastic book! It helps if you have read her Callaghan Brothers series, but it is not necessary to read and enjoy this book.
Gabriel Michaels and Virginia Miller have an immediate and common goal, finding her missing boss. They also have an immediate and unexpected attraction for each other. But what more is going on beneath the surface and will they both achieve what they really want without having to make the ultimate sacrifice?
This is a very engrossing tale which you will find hard to put down. The characters are well drawn, and the story is packed with fast paced, and at times near lethal, action, which will keep you on the edge of your seat. There is plenty of intrigue, with unexpected and surprising twists, and more than a touch of steamy passion to keep you involved from beginning to end. I highly recommend this extremely entertaining and absorbing romantic suspense!
Their pasts have defined them, but there’s something about Virginia that gets under Gabe’s skin. Not only does he find her attractive in real life, she also tests his control to the limit. His mission is supposed to be simple. Find out what happened to her missing boss and don’t start a relationship with Virginia. Easier said than done; they have an attraction to each other that can’t be denied. When their pasts catches up to them, will it become fatal not just for the mission but for themselves as well? What a story! Not only did I find it intriguing, gripping and breathtaking, I fell in love with Fred as well. He is absolutely adorable.
What a great book! I enjoyed getting to know Gabe and Virginia but Fred is definitely my favourite. He is funny, charming and well mannered, everyone needs a Fred! I enjoyed having the Callaghan’s being involved as well. Read this book, you will love it.
What a ride! I really can’t think of a good enough word to describe this book - awesome, phenomenal, breathtaking - all good words but not nearly enough! I loved the plot, once the real drama started it was fast paced and if I hadn’t read every single book Abbie Zanders has ever written then I would have been shocked at the twists and turns in this book! I know my book boyfriends well so I was able to figure out most of those turns but let me say in no way did it detract from the enjoyment I had for this book. Whether you’ve been keeping up with all the Silver SEALs, a military fan or an Abbie Zanders fan this is a must read!
There is one character I am dying to see get his HEA. I know it will be an eventual thing and not one that will be happening soon but because of all these characters I’ll gladly keep buying the books to get a little slice of everybody’s lives.
Goodness! Where to start! Gabe a retired Seal thinks his life is perfect but when he is asked to head a task force again he realises what he had been missing. He finds plenty of intrigue, drama, suspense and mystery but he also finds the mysterious Virginia and there tells a magnificent tale which I thoroughly enjoyed. There are plenty of surprises too in this extremely well written story which I highly recommend.
Another reason (BOOK) to show everyone why she is a seriously amazing author. This book had me on the edge the entire time. I never saw it coming. The characters were amazing. Each on had a personality and backstory that pulled you into the book. Tagging the Callaghan's of course ties in the other series she has. An she ties it in wonderfully. Love me some Kane!!! Without deep diving into past books like some, she is able to bring a quick, simple, and fully detailed background to give credence to the story they make an guest appearance in. The story between Gabriel and Virginia is unique and thrilling. It is also a nice change to have a little older aged characters. This is by far I think her best suspense/romance ever! I was on the edge of my seat and read without stopping to find out what was happening. I could simply not put it down. Waiting to find out if their love would survive seriously could have given me a gray hair...
Gabe has been retired from the Seals for a while and enjoying his solitude with his best fur-buddy Fred when an old Seal buddy Si pulls him back in on a secret mission. Gabe finds himself in an unusual situation, he is used to taking orders and following a plan until he meets Virginia. Is she a victim or is she part the enemy? She brings out the protector in him and he is instantly attracted to her. Virginia is fighting the same problem, there is something about Gabe that calls to her like no other man has ever. I completely loved this book, it was an amazing story from the beginning until the end plus it had the extra factor of reading about characters from previous books Abbie Zanders has written.
Gabe is a "retired" seal and prefers solitude, but there's that one case that still bugs him. Virginia is a personal assistant and her boss is missing. Gabe is brought in to try and find her boss, Christos. What he didn't expect was Virginia or the animosity she faces on a daily basis. Who is behind the disappearance of Christos? Can he discover the culprit and keep everyone safe? Read and find out!
Abbie Zanders has done it again! Intrigue, danger, romance...what more could you want in a book?
Oh my hotness! I loved this book! Gabe and Virginia are very well now on my top 10 list of favorite couples! A Hot Seal? Yes please! This book has suspense and steamy all over it and when it mentions those hot Callahan brothers from the authors other series oh man I just became a puddle of goo.... I was not able to put it down. Just another reason Abbie Zanders is one of my one click authors. Great job Abbie Zanders!
Twists and turns, mysterious and sexy! If you enjoyed Abbie’s Callaghan series, you’ll love this book! Former SEAL, Gabe, comes out of retirement to help find a missing crime lord’s son. With the help of the lovely personal assistant, Virginia, the story quickly becomes more than you think! Once I started I couldn’t stop until I figured it out!
Wow. This really is a very engaging read. It is not rushed at any point. Gabe is Avery engaging character and Virginia is as cool as they come. The two together make a terrific pair. Twist, turns and surprises will definitely keep you reading from beginning to end. I received a free copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a review
Fantastic story. While having an instant connection, Virginia and Gabe have secrets they can't share with one another, that give their story some amazing twist and turns. Worth buying and totally worth reading. Highly recommend this book and author!
Another great book by a talented author! Gabe and Virginia are both strong and lovable characters. Also, I loved finding out who Virginia really was. Lastly, I absolutely loved the inclusion of previous characters in the book.
Loved the Silver Fox. The story had a great flow and the chemistry between the main characters was hot. I liked the fact that the main characters were older. And the surprise at the end? I wasn’t expecting that but it was a wonderful twist. It was great to visit the Callaghan brothers again too.
Seal Out of Water is another hit in the Silver Seals series. I love the mature, caring, alpha men. Abbie Zanders wove a delightful, suspenseful, sexy tale with a big twist. I could not put it down. The story nicely incorporated the Ghost team. I feel the need to go reread the Callaghan brothers’ books!
I loved the story of Gabe and Virginia. It took me a bit to figure out who she was. The intrigue kept me involved in the book from the beginning to the end.
Filled with intrigue and suspense, SEAL Out of Water was a fantastic read. I mean, who doesn’t want to read about a sexy silver fox who also happens to be a SEAL Commander?
Gabe is living the life. After retiring from duty, he and his awesome hound Fred, pass their days in comfortable companionship in his mountain cabin. Although he is content with his lifestyle, he can’t deny that the itch to do stuff isn’t a constant presence in the back of his mind.
That doesn’t mean that when he gets the chance to jump back into action he doesn’t take in a blink. Not when this means having the opportunity to avenge his fallen teammates from that last nightmarish mission.
Now he needs to find a missing “businessman” who just happens to be the son of one of the most dangerous arms-dealers (amongst other things) in the world and avoid an international incident. If only everyone on that guys’ employees weren’t set on not giving them any information, and Virginia, the missing man’s lovely PA didn’t make his focus go to shit.
Gabe was oh so dreamy. Experienced, sure of himself, alpha to the moon and back and s-i-l-v-e-r-f-o-x-s-e-x-y!!! I loved how he was with Fred, even though the poor pup’s diet left much to be desired (as in my vet would kill me if I fed my dogs that way) and how he went about pursuing Virginia.
Virginia was lovely. She was sweet, but also no-nonsense, kind but had a backbone. I absolutely adored her interactions with Fred and I commended her dedication to her work.
Once Gabe and Virginia start to interact, the pace of the story picks up as well as the suspense and a bit of action. Their chemistry was certainly entertaining. However, this doesn’t happen until past the 25% mark which made for a bit of a slow beginning for me.
With twists I didn’t see coming, the intrigue had me biting my nails. Gabe’s new team was filled with characters I want to know more, especially Pixie and Mancini’s story. Fun, with some sexiness and the best wing-dog ever, SEAL Out of Water was definitely an entertaining read.
*I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book*
Seal out of Water Retired SEAL Gabe doesn’t realize that he’s still looking to be in on the action until a close friend dies under questionable circumstances. When given the opportunity to lead a new investigation looking in to a long time adversary, Gabe jumps on it. Seemingly meek and mild Virginia works for a crime family, having a dubious familial relationship with them, but she also has a major secret. Gabe and Virginia are instantly drawn to each other, even though they’re in the middle of an investigation. Gabe is blindsided when the investigation comes to a head and Virginia’s secret is revealed. What I love most about Abbie Zander’s books is plain and simply the characters. The storylines are always on point, but it’s the realistic characters that suck you in and force you to read til the wee hours of the morning. This isn’t the first time (nor will it be the last)that I’ve been a little tired the day after reading a AZ book :) !! I really hope some of the supporting characters get their stories too!!
I am a big Abbie Zanders fan and have read and enjoyed most of her books. I was very happy to have the opportunity to read an ARC of her new book "SEAL Out of Water". The book is part of the Silver SEALs series that involve some of my other favorite romance authors too. This book is a suspense story first and a romance second and boy does it keep you guessing. The story starts a little slowly as the back-story (at least as much as we get up front) is told, but once the action starts it really takes off and is hard to put down. It was refreshing to have believable and vibrant characters in their 40s and 50s. The book switches in the last 25% from the action packed beginning to the story of the two lead characters trying to find a way back to each other. For those that have read Abbie Zanders' Callaghan Brothers, there is not only the inclusion of some of the brothers in the story but a wonderful link to one of the Callaghan croies. I strongly recommend this book and If you haven't read them, pick up any or all of the Callaghan Brothers books too.
This Silver SEALs series just keeps getting better. What a great cast of characters in this book - including Gabe's wingman "Fred". Such a mystery - where has Christos disappeared to and who was the mystery guest that came to see his right before his disappearance? And why does Virginia remain at the estate after his Chris' disappearance, especially when the long time members of the staff are fairly hostile to her? And how much danger is she is?
Loved how there was a tie in to Kane Callaghan and the Chameleons. I'm sure I'm not the only one who is hoping this book will be the jumping off point to a new series by this author - could see either a series with the members of the team that Gabe worked with in this book (especially Kyle Mancini) or a series about the Chameleons and Taser.
I was blown away by this book! Personally, it started a little slow but it picked up speed once I got further into it. This silver seals series is interesting because they are older characters. They have experience, and are at a transitional time in their lives. I loved Gabe and Virginia. Gabe is the retired military SEAL, and Virginia is the personal assistant in a case. I loved the addition of Fred, he definitely brought some comedy into the story. There were so many twists and turns in this book! I especially did not see the ending coming! You will not want to put the book down when you get towards the end! I loved the addition of the cameos, they brought a little something extra to this story. I highly recommend reading this book. I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book.
I have yet to meet a Silver SEAL who I didn't like and Gabriel "Saint" Michaels is no exception. He is experienced, disciplined and a man on a mission A man seeking vengeance. How can you not love a man whose best friend is a dog named Fred? The part of his mission Saint didn't count on was Virginia Miller. She is a bit of a mystery but Fred loves her....so. All of Gabe's introspection about women and love is quite illuminating. Virginia is as determined to "have" Gabe as he is determined to keep her at arm's length despite wanting her.
Abbie Zanders has put a fascinating twist on this story that makes it quite unique. It was something I did not figure out but I LOVED it. Ian an official fan of Abbie Zanders now.
I absolutely loved Gabriel and Virginia's story. I am a big fan of Abbie Zanders book and this one was definitely one of my favorites. It followed the line of the rest of the silver seals books so far. I was on the edge of my seat turning pages like crazy trying to find out who was who and what was what! The mysterious disappearance of Virginia's boss is what Gabriel was investigating. I really enjoyed the team that was put together to assist Gabriel. I love how Ms. Zanders writes her characters you definitely feel like you know them. I love plot twists and this story was full of them. The cameo with the Callahan's waa a great touch! I e enjoyed everything about this story! Enjoy!
This is a really fantastic story to read. I knew it would be good. Because let’s face it Abbie Zanders books are always AMAZING! Who doesn’t like a Hot, Sexy Seal? Gabe and Virginia meet under unusual circumstances. Gabe is leading the team to investigate the disappearance of Virginia ‘s boss. Virginia is a feisty, beautiful pleasant surprise he didn’t count on. Buts she’s hiding something. I love the slow burn between Gabe and Virginia and the twist at the end. WOW! I definitely wasn’t expecting that. Of course you can’t forget Fred! Sweet lovable Fred! He just kinda brought out the sensitive side of Gabe and Virginia. “I voluntarily received this arc book for an honest review”

Commander Gabriel “Saint” Michaels has retired from the SEALs and is enjoying solitude with his best friend Fred, who happens to have 4 legs and goes everywhere with him. He runs into friend, former SEAL & Asst DHS Dir Silas Branson at the funeral of a mutual friend when Si pulls him back in, cause are you ever REALLY out, for a mission. Gabe meets Virginia while investigating, and is immediately attracted, but holds back because he’s investigating. Meanwhile, she too is holding back. There is a weird vibe in the house also, but why? And of course some old friends make an appearance, which is awesome, but I don’t want to give away who! Twist, turns and intrigue! Love this book by Abbie Zanders! If you’re reading my review, you totally need to go hit the “buy me” button!
Gabe is a not so retired after all Seal on a mission to find out what's happened to Virginia's boss, Christos Kristikos. While they search for answers Gabe finds himself fighting, but not that hard, his feelings for Virginia. Who is she really and can she truly be trusted? Gabe's coonhound Fred seems to think so. There are just enough twists and turns to keep you guessing. And of course the fact that the Callaghan men make an appearance made things even better. Overall great book, would definitely read again.
