Animals in the Spirit World is a validation of animal soul survival. The author’s respect and love of animals is felt throughout, as he recounts from first-hand experience moving tales of reunions between animal spirits and their human friends. A lovely book, a treasure of sensitivity and understanding of life’s ways, written in uncomplicated language. Although most religions reject the idea of animal consciousness surviving death, the evidence given here, through the credible mediumship of Harold Sharp and others, indicates strongly that it does survive and that those animals which have bonded with humans are often present in the afterlife to greet us and continue their friendships. First published in 1966, this slim book is long overdue for re-release.
I happened upon this book by chance in a second hand bookshop in Berwick-upon-Tweed, and felt compelled to buy it. I’m agnostic when it comes to faith and the afterlife, but I’ve long hoped for a kinder world beyond our own and this book allowed me to hope just a little more. As an animal lover it was comforting to read the stories Harold Sharp lays out. His style is rambling but endearing, and his final message is so important whether we believe our spirits, and those of our animal friends, live on or not: “Is not cruelty to them as inexcusable as cruelty towards one of our own kind?”
