UPDATE: I've read the final version of Whiteout now, and it is SO FREAKING FANTASTIC!!! I love, love, love this book! The survival plot is amazing, and the sexual tension is off the charts. I was literally fanning myself at times. The first make-out scene is...OMG. I've already read this book twice now, and I would totally read it again. SO good!

Action-packed, full of twists and turns, danger, adventure, and steamy romance! A hot, reclusive scientist and a plucky, resourceful chef find

Picture The Thing where the alien is actually a diabolical elderly woman and there’s lots of sexual tension and hot make out sessions. You’ve got it? Perfect. That’s Whiteout by Adriana Anders.

Ford Cooper is a raspy-voiced grump (yes, please). He’s the perfect hero for those romance readers who like their men challenging to work with because it’s all the more satisfying when the heroine finally convinces him to indulge his desires. I wanted to wrap Ford in a hug and tell him, “It’s okay to feel

Antarctica, a frozen sea of hidden discoveries, a scientific haven for the brave hearted, or as in Angel’s case, those looking to hide away from life for a while. The subzero temps and total isolation would be more than enough adventure for me, but for a scientific outpost and two of its occupants, it is about to become a chilling race to survive in a frigid hell.

WHITEOUT by Adriana Anders snowballs into a searing hot romance as two people trek through miles of ice and snow, knowing they could
Chalk and cheese strikes again!

Micky read this super early and it was her being all excitement over it that inspired me to request, hoping I might catch it before the release date, and be able to swoon alongside her for this new title, and new series opener, from a new-to-me author.

But I pretty much didn't get on with anything about this story. The only thing that worked for me was the realistic weather experience, the harsh conditions, and the very practical conversations surrounding said

The Angel we meet here is a woman whose world was turned upside down when she became seriously injured, losing everything that she thought was precious. She’s dusted herself off and taken a temporary assignment cooking for researchers at the South Pole. What she hadn’t expected because frankly who would ,is to witness a murder that leaves her stranded and alone in the abandoned station.
Ford Cooper is a committed scientist who adores the isolation that the “Ice” give him but he’s also a man who

Whiteout by Adriana Anders was a heart pounding romantic suspense that kept me turning the pages until the final chapter.

Angel Smith has escaped to Antarctica to rethink her life by being the cook for a research station. Ford Cooper is a glaciologist that is running from life after serving in the military. Both Angel and Ford are broken complex people who must work together to survive after the research station is taken over by a group of mercenaries. Ms. Anders' narrative was so clear that I

WHITEOUT is the first book in a series aptly named "Survival Instincts". On her last day as a chef at a remote research station in Antarctica, Angel Smith is faced with the impossible: make a 302 mile trek across the ice with a surly scientist, Ford Cooper, or die. As I followed Ford and Angel on their harrowing journey, I found myself astounded by Angel's grit and determination. I often found myself asking whether or not I'd be able to push through if I were in her shoes. Anders paints a ...more

Adeptly written, full of thrilling moments showing superb narrative control, ‘Whiteout’ is putting Adriana Anders on my romantic-suspense-authors list. Truth is, I had a damn good time with this. Few stories use Antarctica as a setting; even fewer delve so deeply into and write so convincingly about the endless, brutal, frigid whiteness and the fragility of humanity against the unrelenting harshness of nature.

Both Angel Smith and Ford Cooper are in Antarctica for various

I loved the fact this book was such an adventure. I can’t imagine having to trek across Antarctica on skis the foot to flee from bad guys, all the while carrying a deadly virus they’re after to use for no good. Plus, there is no place to hide in all that white snow and ice. You are a sitting duck in your bright red coat. This is what the two main characters go through. I loved all the characters. I felt like it was too long at times, though it held my interest. What I didn’t like, and why I’m ...more

Get a blanket, warm slippers and something hot to drink before snowshoeing into this read. Baby it’s cold inside this book and then it HOT but that has nothing to do with the weather. It’s about two people who are running away from their lives and a horrendous plot to kill millions.
Favorite line “The Iceman Cometh” < wink >. So the story is set in a remote scientific station near the pole, frozen beyond cold. Angel is the new hire, the cook for the station. Coop, one of the scientist, is

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Whiteout by Adriana Anders is a relatively fast paced survival romance set in the continent of Antarctica. Ford Cooper is a grumpy and monosyllabic glaciologist whose entire life basically revolves around ice. He has no interest in romantic entanglements. At least that’s what he tells himself whenever he comes across the cook working at his research station. Unable to admit that he’s attracted to Angel Smith, Ford tries to spend

This was one of the best romantic suspense books that I've read this year!

I knew this was going to be good when one of my favorite authors, Amanda Bouchet recommended it! So, I zipped over to Netgalley and requested this one and read it in one sitting the day it got approved! 'Cause it was that good!

Whiteout features a few of my favorite things put together!
There's the grumpy male lead with the sunny female lead + scientific conspiracy + survival adventure. A perfect mix of elements, if you ask

Angel Smith fled her life back in the States to find a new beginning after giving her all working in a high end restaurant. Traumatized by her world failing apart and dreams shattered, Angel finds a peace in the crystalline sanctuary of ice and snow in Antarctica. Ready to head back on her last day as the research station’s cook, Angel witnesses a horrific scene knowing that if caught by these seriously evil guys, her life is forfeit. The tension starts quickly in this story and does not let up. ...more

I kinda love when surly, growly folks (male or female, honestly, although I do have a particular soft spot for grumbly men) who try DESPERATELY to avoid romantic entanglements end up finding their special someone. Ford certainly fits the bill, in this case.

While he's growly and stern and comes across as cold, Angel is his polar opposite. Heh. She's outgoing and warm and she kinda likes the Iceman even though he's given her ZERO reasons to believe he does more than tolerate her out of necessity.

I was expecting this book and I really wanted to read it. The premise sounded interesting and the setting original. It was everything you could expect on a suspense romance set in a remote land. Forced proximity plus "opposites attracts". He's grumpy and serious while she's more effusive and optimistic.

As much as I wanted to love this book I couldn't do it. There wasn't anything bad with it but I just couldn't connect with the main characters. I felt that their relationship was more "telling

First book that I’ve read by Adriana Anders and she blew me away! Whiteout was a nail biter that had me on the edge of my seat the whole way through. Angel and Ford were an unlikely duo that were oh so perfect together. Excellent read! Can’t wait for more in this series.

A chef running the cafeteria for an Antarctic science research facility finds herself caught in a deadly trek across the ice with the one man she couldn't stand after rogue mercenaries try to kill everyone to obtain ice cores holding a deadly virus.

Both thrilling and steamy, this is a delicious forced proximity romance.

I adored the awkward, tall scientist Ford Cooper, who is so afraid of his own feelings he had to run away to the Antarctic to escape them, until he finds Angel Smith who is also a

It should not come as a surprise to anyone who knows me well that I love a story set in Antarctica. It appears to be rare enough to set a story on that continent that when I do find a book that takes place there I'm going to immediately want to read it because:Antarctica!

Whiteout is the start of the new series, Survival Instincts, by Adriana Anders. A story that will keep you on the edge and send a chill down your spine. Holy moly. What did I just read? I finished this book two nights ago and I STILL have a book hangover! Adriana Anders needs to write faster. That's all there is to it.
One of the things I adore about her books is that her heroes aren't perfect. She's written about a blind man, an amputee, and in this one, a socially awkward loner. It's better than it sounds though.... Ford Cooper is all THAT and more. Angel calls him the Ice Man, because he is like a frozen shell of a man. No emotions, no

Whiteout is a book about 2 people living at a research facility in Antarctica. One is a chef, the other a scientist. They couldn't be any more different. Winter arrives and they find themselves in the middle of a government conspiracy fighting for their lives. This book was full of action and suspense. Then throw in some steamy romance along with a super sexy "Ice Man" and you have a nice combo. I've got a thing for the freakishly smart, quiet, yet slightly scary ones. Holy cow, so this was recommended to me by a friend. It's not often I go straight for a 'romance' book but this book did an incredible job at blending romance and adventure/thriller. The action is nonstop but without feeling overwhelming and the characters are unique and well fleshed out. Definitely enjoyed reading this and would recommend it to any romance reader.

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for an earc of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Wow! Whiteout was a page-turner like nothing I've read in a long while. Coop was the brooding hero we all want and expect to find working as a scientist in Antarctica. And Angel is a refreshing, full-of-life, chef that challenges Coop in ways he doesn't know he needs. What could possibly go wrong, right? Well, the answer is 'just about everything.'

Coop and Angel find themselves out on the ice, on the run for their lives, and by this time they can barely stand each other. Not the greatest start

He was a starving man and she was an oasis, a hallucination, a single sparkling drop of water in his desiccated world.

Fans of Survivor and Naked and Afraid (only with more clothes on (necessity, people, not want LOL)) are going to love Adriana Anders' Whiteout as much as I did. It's a survivor story that pairs up the unlikeliest of duos in one of the harshest climates. I couldn't put this book down.

Angel and Ford are at odds & ends when they first meet. Ford is more of a loner,

5 Stars!

Typically, I don’t seek out romantic suspense and only read it on occasion. But when one of my top-5 favorite romance authors pens a book in this sub-genre, I'm all in.

When it came to the romantic story elements, I knew I wouldn't be disappointed, but I was especially surprised and pleased with how much I enjoyed the suspense. Whiteout started with a gripping opening and kept me riveted throughout. It wasn't only intense because of the obvious suspense and vile antagonists, but also due
I was so pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this? The copy didn’t grab me at first but honestly, this was all the best things about classic 90s action-adventure romance movies with a hefty dose of the grumpy one + the sunshine one and VERY forced proximity trope. Highly rec if any of those things are your catnip!

I read Whiteout around Christmas when my Southern California body was craving some snow vibes, and oh goodness did it deliver! If you want a romantic suspense with a lot of snow, read one set in Antarctica. The plot of this one is so intense, and downright terrifying at times, but I loved every second of this wild ride.

Angel Smith took a job as a chef at a remote research station in Antarctica to get away from her cheating ex and start a new life. But the station is attacked on the day she is
