I’m not a big novella fan, but this one was fun because it was great seeing these characters again. I really like Josie and Ryan, so I liked their parts the best, but regardless, how the author planned this book was neat. It was creative and different. Typically I don’t like this many point of views, but it worked well for this little novella.

This is such a fun mystery story! I read it in two sittings and thoroughly enjoyed it. The author combines the characters from two of her full-length young adult novels, Sophie and Jake from her award-winning THE PERFECT BLINDSIDE, and Josie and Ryan from AN UNEXPECTED ROLE. The interaction of these four protagonists is hilarious and had me laughing on nearly every page. This story can stand alone, but believe me, you'll want to read both novels after finishing it! (The same foursome also appear ...more
This fun story gets at a little mystery through the points of view of four of Leslea Wahl's characters from other books (Jake, Sophie (The Perfect Blindside), Ryan, & Josie (An Unexpected Role)) plus one cynical FBI detective.

It's fun to hear their different takes on the action and the boys' relentless competitions. Includes a simple inspirational theme - that we don't know how simply living our faith my influence others.

A great introduction to the characters and the author's style or an indulge

i loved this short story so much! i haven’t read An Unexpected Role yet so i didn’t know much about the characters but i can tell i’m really going to like them. but i have read The Perfect Blindside and i love Jake and Sophie. i especially like how in between chapters Agent Martinez was interrogating them. i loved the mystery. i liked how the four characters did so many activities on their vacation especially white water rafting. i’ve gone white water rafting and it was described perfectly in th ...more

This is a cleverly written mystery from multiple points of view and has so much heart, the reader can't help but love the four teen protagonists as well as the many well-drawn minor characters. And the character arc of the FBI agent is so heart-warming, you'll have a huge smile on your face when you get to the end. Along the way, though, there are some anxious moments for the teens as they try to solve a mystery involving some shady characters. Highly recommended for teen readers and those of an ...more

Sometimes great things come in small packages. That was my first thought upon finishing this novella. This story continues sometime after the short story that was part of the anthology Secrets: Visible & Invisible 7 Amazing Stories from Catholic Teen Books. That story combines the main characters from the novels The Perfect Blindside and An Unexpected Role. But this story is strong enough to be read on its own. It is a great story to be read as a stand alone, as an introduction to the characters ...more

Sophie, Jake, Ryan, and Josie from Leslea Wahl's books The Perfect Blindside and An Unexpected Role are back together in an exciting new adventure! Yes, it is exciting. I promise. Yes, on The Perfect Blindside 's level.

A bunch of sketchy-looking dudes are wandering around town, and the gang think they're the ones who stole an adorable calf. And Sophie's last name is Metcalf. We can't just let that slide!

Jake. Much more enjoyable than in The Perfect Blindside . He has grown considerably

It's Friday afternoon and Agent Martinez (FBI) has just 15 minutes before quitting time. That all changes when he gets the assignment of interviewing four teenagers: Ryan and Josie, Jake and Sophie. These teenagers were on vacation with their families when they began to see some suspicious characters. The reader is not given the reason for them being brought in for questioning at the beginning but as the story unfolds, the characters are developed and you will soon be "caught".

This is an unusual

Can't get enough of the characters in Leslea Wahl's full-length books? This novella puts couples from The Perfect Blindside and An Unexpected Role in the same location, on a trip to a dude ranch that turns into a mystery they just can't leave alone. The four wind up being interrogated by a disgruntled FBI investigator, who finds himself unexpectedly impressed by their guts and their faith. Comic moments keep the story from being too heavy. You don't have to have read the novels that introduced t ...more

Quirky Mystery well worth reading

Engaging, well written story showing what happens when you live your religion. Four energetic teens with lively imaginations, great observational skills and magical dynamic when together.

Enjoyed the vocabulary and style of writing. Not just for young adults, as this Granny highly recommends. And there are a lot of these exemplary young people in the real world❣️

Adventure, suspense, faith and frienship.

This story shows the great friendship and support four young people had with one another. A story of adventure, suspense and the faith that helped them and which they shared even in the face of danger. A great story.
