Adaptations

ADAPTATIONS is an exercise in envisioning the worst case scenario and asking, "What next?" It explores concepts of alienation and survival in a world that's largely inhospitable, and what it means to be human once traditional mechanisms of control and safety cease to exist. Poetry.

With Pinkerton as guide, we burn our maps—"no maps can help" / "no need for maps"—and rejoice in pure movement, to endure, to "fly forward." Transmission of place, of sense-memory / self-memory, transmission of echo. Amidst ghosts and ruin, these "viable seeds"—the poems themselves, these viable seeds—that we nurture and are nurtured by, that we may "take flight—" in every voice or wing or word.

This is a beautiful book. Short, cutting, miraculous. Read it. Seriously.
