After reading this book, I really want to go to Greece and take a cruise. The descriptions from the heat of the day to the color of the water is so alluring! Hopefully, if I ever get there, I will never have to have the suspense that the characters in the book had! But the romance from the place, I certainly wouldn’t mind experiencing!

Gracie is an easy going, unselfish, and kind person. She loves her job designing jewelry settings. She has been wanting to do that since she was a little girl. She

When Quinn West receives a frantic call from his aunt Dorcas needing to see him right away, he drops what he's doing and heads over to her favorite jewelers. Upon his arrival, he's informed that her jewelry has been sto

What is not to love about this book? You have quirky/lovable characters, mystery, humor, travel, and romance in one book!

The book starts off as Gracie Miller is on her way to work. A rude skateboarder barrels down the street forcing her to move quickly, spilling her hot chocolate and getting sprayed by muddy water as the cars drive by. That is the first page of the book. For me, when something like that happens, I know that it is the book for me.

Gracie is a jewelry designer who f

This romantic suspense book was just my speed. The author did a great job of letting me get to know the characters while also jump starting the plot. Gracie has a pretty amazing job as a fine jewelry designer in New York City, but she is also down to earth and genuine. I loved the world travel and seeing it through the eyes of Gracie for whom it's a first time experience. There is a perfect balance between the progressing relationship of Gracie and Quinn, and following the mystery of who is behi ...more

I was so excited to hear that Sian Ann Bessey had a new book coming out! I really enjoy her writing style and it seems like forever since I've read something from her. Plus, this new book was partially set in Greece, one of my favorite places on earth, so I was doubly excited.

The Gem Thief starts out with poor Gracie Miller getting hot chocolate spilled on her clothing, and then muddy water sprayed over any part that the hot chocolate missed. She has an important meeting at the upscale jeweler t

I actually did a video for this book. (on my Facebook page for Getting Your Read On) I guess the video is less about the story and more about the actual book, but still. I call the video The BEST Cover because I wanted to show it to you instead of just talk about it. This cover is a very good reason for loving print books and the picture just doesn't do it justice. The publisher did a perfect job of making the cover fit the story inside.

For the official written review, I enjoyed this book. The s

I have always enjoyed Bessey's writing. She is a good author and writes a good story. Nothing too crazy or too deep, just a nice read. This pulled me in from the start, I was immediately loving Gracie, her character pulled me in and kept me reading. This is a contemporary proper romance with a bit of violence and a couple kisses.
I actually requested this one on NetGalley because of the stunning cover. I’m always skeptical about new authors from publishing houses I have little experience with, and this one was a definite winner! I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough as Gracie and Quinn race (literally around the world) to figure out who’s stealing high-end jewelry. There are so many layers in this mystery with all the different people required for the crime and I loved how they got peeled back a little at a time.

A long time ago, in a galaxy of my teenage life, I discovered an author by the name of Sian Ann Bessey. I picked up her book and fell head over heels in love with the story, the characters and most especially the setting...Wales. My sister bought the book, Forgotten Notes, by this author. We both read it, then reread it, and years later reread it. So much so that the binding fell completely apart. I still have it. My sister ended up giving it to me and I still read it. I know, I should probably ...more

Romantic suspense is one of my very favorite categories to read. I love the suspense/mystery aspect. Trying to figure out who the thief was in this one was so fun! And who doesn’t love a touch of romance?

I loved Gracie in this book! Gracie is a jewelry designer working at a prestigious jewelry store in New York City. She’s about as down to earth as they come. She doesn’t seem to care if she shows up looking muddy and wet when she gets rained on/soaked in hot chocolate. Or if she’s just been out

High stakes robbery, mystery & a sweet romance - I really enjoyed this Mediterranean journey from Sian Ann Bessey. Such a great mix of characters - wealthy widow, high end NYC jewelry designer, the CEO nephew, plenty of arrogant wealthy step-kids, snotty ex-girlfriend & the down to earth FBI agent.

The travel begins in Venice and takes you on a Greek cruise in the Med. This mystery will keep you guessing right to the end. Very well researched and beautifully description you’ll hear the waves lap

Thoroughly enjoyable! I'm always up for a good mystery, and this one kept me guessing. I really liked the premise and was intrigued by the concept. I know nothing about jewelry design, so I felt like I learned some things in this book, which is always a win. I had a few different suspicions of the villain throughout the story, but I ended up being totally wrong!

The romance added that little something extra that I just adored. Gracie and Quinn are a great couple, and I liked watching them get to

This is a good book. It combines a good mystery with a budding romance to keep the reader entertained. The characters are well written with enough back story to make them come to life. The story moves quickly, keeping the mystery element ever changing. The writer gives us enough clues that the options of "who done it" remain a mystery until the end. It's obvious Sian Ann Bessey enjoys her craft and can make her readers fall into her stories. I'll definitely look for more of her books.

This was a very engaging read. I sat back and enjoyed everything about it. Who wouldn't love a Mediterranean cruise. It was fun to read about an industry I really know nothing about, and to learn about it mixed with suspense, romance, and the location, you can't go wrong. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves to travel with some romantic suspense in the mix. I will be looking into more books by this author.

I loved "The Gem Thief"! This was a busy week for me being a teacher and having Parent Teacher Conferences.I didn't have time to read it earlier, so I picked up the book this morning and finished it in a few hours. Honestly, I couldn't put it down. It has so many wonderful elements that I loved. Of course it has an exciting mystery, an exotic setting on a fancy cruise ship touring Italy and Greece, endearing characters including main characters Quinn, Gracie, and Aunt Dorcas, and of course a slo ...more

Fun story

I really enjoyed this book. It was easy to read, flowed well and had a little mystery. It was easy to like the main characters, Gracie, Quinn and Dorcas. Of course a little love story between Gracie and Quinn couldn’t hurt either. This would be the perfect beach or vacation read.

The Gem Thief is an enjoyable suspense novel. It wasn't the "stop everything and avoid life's responsibilities" type of book for me, but I read it over the course of a few days and thought it was well written.

I had my suspicions about who the thief was, but that changed several times throughout the novel as the author threw in clues and misdirection. I enjoy that in a suspense novel-I don't want to be totally blindsided, but I don't want it to be obvious right off. The ride was an enjoy

"The Gem Thief" is a romance with a mystery. Gracie is a jewelry designer who spots that one of her unique designs has been forged and the original piece stolen. The owner of the missing jewelry asked her nephew (Quinn) and his FBI agent friend to discreetly discover who did this. They asked Gracie to check the woman's other jewelry, only to discover that the last three pieces that were bought in Venice have been forged and stolen. They asked Gracie to pose as Quinn's fiancée and accompany them ...more

I wasn't sure exactly what to expect when I bought this in audio format. It sounded good though, and it included gems, which is an interest of mine so I thought I'd try it. I'm glad I did - I really enjoyed this story!

There were several themes in this story that connected for me. First and foremost, the characters were quirky and charming and very likable. Gracie in particular really struck a chord with me. I loved her spunk and determination as well as her kindness.

This is a well-written and well-paced mystery. Until the last chapter, there were several people who could have been the thief, and the answer to the mystery wasn’t immediately apparent. The ending of the story is not rushed and comes to a satisfying conclusion.

The characters are great. Gracie and Quinn make a terrific couple, and Aunt Dora is a likeable, strong woman. The settings in New York City;

I received this book through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

What a sweet, fun and adventurous book with a mystery element to add more intrigue to an already promising plot! As rare as it is for me to genuinely like all of the main characters in a novel, this one definitely got high marks from me for its all-star cast. Gracie was intelligent and vibrant, Quinn was an absolute dream, Dorcas/Mrs. Katsaros was the sweet and stylish aunt that everyone wishes they had, and Steve was the h
