The Foreigner
Alex Orlando is a foreigner in New York -- a California foreigner, housesitting for her Uncle Carmi while he vacations in Puerto Rico. She quickly becomes entwined with her attractive Swedish neighbor, Christian, but something isn't quite right about him. For where does he get all that cash? Her oldest friends, Kyle, has turned into a stalked, and a much-anticipated visit from Jan, her European boyfriend, quickly turns into a nightmare. Manhattan is a foreign landscape filled with suspects in Meg Castaldo's daring and irresistible first novel.

The Foreigner was a fast read and kept my interest. Plot was interesting with a few twists. I found this book on my book shelf and It was a good book to fill in between serious reads!

A decent story for the length and subject matter. The protagonist comes off as fairly dumb - she doesn't connect the dots very quickly. I sort of saw the ending coming but that isn't a bad thing. It was short enough that it was worth the read.

This was a pretty good story. Very unusual. I liked the mystery of the story. Alex Orlando is watching her uncle's apartment in New York while he is away on a trip to Puerto Rico. She has some strange friends but she is bored so she hangs out with them anyway, even though things they say don't add up. She becomes entwined with her uncle's neighbor,Christian, but something isn't right about him. She falls for his pushy tactics and her friend Kyle is following her...so she thinks. Jan, her European boyfriend ends up visiting her out of the blue . Things take a turn for the worse and she is left with a horrible feeling that she is tied up with something not so nice.

The protagonist was frustratingly obtuse.
