Hair Calamities and Hot Cash was a book that was far from what I had imagined it to be. A supposed rom-com and an entertaining read left me just plain exasperated.
Certain things perplexed me to no end.
1. Blazing fast attraction between H and h.
Day 1: Philip Wells enters the town of Triville and rams his car straight into Eve's shop.
And she offers him coffee for this.
My issue: Now if that had happened to me, I would have rammed his head in his own car till he stopped seeing straight. I may have t ...more

Meet Triville, North Carolina.
Triville is a fabulous place to drive through on a spring day. Gorgeous mountain vistas, a fun downtown, sweet restaurants, and a great beauty shop should you feel a need for a quick clip or curl. Eve has loads of experience, and thank goodness, lots of friends who are willing to come back after accidental bubbles and perms make haywire on the heads of her clients.

This was a cute, Christian based romance set in a small town. The description of the book made me believe this book would be different than it was, however, I still really enjoyed reading this book. Eve and Phillip were both great characters and their romance was very sweet. I was hoping the hair calamities in the book would be humorous, but oddly, they weren't. I think that would have made the story better. Overall it's a sweet romance that readers will enjoy.

This book made me laugh and smile a lot. It's a fun read, engrossing and entertaining.
I liked the style of writing, the fleshed out cast of characters and the humour.
The plot kept me hooked till the end.
It's the first book I read by this author and won't surely be the last.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine. ...more

I received a free, advance copy of this book and this is my unbiased and voluntary review.
It is an amusing story of the antics of a beauty shop that leads to a hair rising day for the owner. As hair products suddenly do not work as advertise which slowly morphine into a calamity that is out of a control.
Not to help matters an out of town stockbroker crashes his car in the store window and in the mix love finds away to blossom in the ...more

Things aren’t going right for the widow, Eve. Her hair products are faulty, and her clients are getting some quirky hair-doo results. What else can go wrong? Well, how about a broker, named Phillip, from the Big Apple, smashing his vehicle right into her salon? After the initial shock, Eve regains her composer and offers him coffee. Phillip obligingly aids her in swabbing up an overspill of soapsuds.

Botched hairdo’s, romance, and stolen money are part of this comedic novel. The best part is I didn’t figure out the culprit and was surprised. The author’s fictional small-town of Triville, N.C. reminded me of the small mountain town I once lived in.
Author Gail Pallotta is a new-to-me author and I recommend this family-friendly novel to fans of comedy. Also, I just love the cover.

Loved the charm, loved the wit. Hair Salon Owner, Eve, is trying to go on with her life. Widowed, she can’t seem to look beyond the tragedy that took her husband. Until…a chance meeting (tongue in cheek) with a New York Broker happens. I don’t want to give away the events in this book. That’s part of the charm. Small town girl meets big town gentleman. Let the twists and turns begin. If you like unexpected romance with a clean premise, you’ll love this book. It’s funny, sad, hair raising and swe

If you're looking for a serious read, look elsewhere, but this was a fun book. The main character is supposed to be in her 30's but acts more like she's in her 60's or 70's. It's a cute love story with some creative elements, but the mystery part of the book, especially the way the main characters try to solve the mystery, is a bit unbelievable. Still, if you're looking for a light, clean read, it is an enjoyable story.

I had heard that this book was a funny light hearted romance, but unfortunately it fell short for me. I really had to push myself to read this and found the pace slow and not all that entertaining. I found the dialogue awkward and stilted making it even harder to read. There were some sweet moments that left me smiling, however I don't think christian romance is for me.
