Author, Teacher and Performance Artist, Joy Jones recently released her new book, Fearless Public Speaking: A guide for persons new to the art of public speaking. The book provides candid conversation about one of humanity’s most common fears. Jones inspires readers not to surrender defeat in this area “You don’t have to face any villains or fight with your fists. You just need to face a scary feeling and push through it.” Fearless Public Speaking is targeted to newbies, but would benefit anyone trying to improve. Jones uses humor and technique from her years of teaching to advise those who dare to speak publicly. Discussing supportive tools, Jones writes “Thesaurus sounds like an animal you’d find in Jurassic Park, but it’s something a lot more practical…” Fearless Public Speaking reads like a comprehensive speaking handbook, tackling practically every issue a speaker would encounter from stage fright to dramatic speaking. Fearless Public Speaking does more than just discuss the challenges of public speaking. It offers practical advice and strategies to help build this skill set. Each chapter invites readers to ‘Try This,’ listing a variety of exercises readers may actively attempt while feeling the fear. This gives readers the flexibility to practice anywhere a book is allowed. A great option for those who don’t have time to attend speaking programs, such as Toastmasters or speaking conferences, which can be costly. Fearless Public Speaking is an informative and delightful read, and a must have for those hoping to master the art.

A good book for youth to learn to speak publicly. Not very deep for adults though
