Although it was nice to go back to the Fort I’m not sure I like the way sexuality and racism was shoehorned into the story. Lilly and Mary just suddenly deciding they’re into girls seems very forced and unnatural. The fact you then throw Norman in and make a point of his sexuality in a world where clearly they all have a million more important things to worry about just feels clumsy. The two doctors were much more natural; why did you need to go in this direction for Lilly?

In addition I find the seesawing frailty of Lenski and Lilly making the same mistakes over and over again whilst criticizing others for doing the same thing is getting frustrating. They’re constantly described in one way yet they’re portrayed in another.

On top of that the fact that the main characters of the series until this point are missing entirely just makes this one fall a bit flatter still.

Another excellent book in the series.

I enjoy the big cast of characters in this series and am happy to catch up with everyone at the fort. Looking forward to the next installment.

Bloody loving it

So has to be a series on Amazon or something. Can really see a hist of well known British and American actors in the parts. Colin has to be the blond hair stylist from benidorm. Maybe a few guest stars although I think the comedian who dedicated on a certain person back a few books ago may not want his part lol. Love the ripples of banter. Love that heros are flawed and make some huge errors too. Just one thing. If I was with lily I'd have established some poly tunnels and green houses to grow foods in by now. Plenty of garden centres and stuff. Also Howie has not come across and CB radios or even any museums with old tech like Morse code or the winding radio packs from the army. I'm sure that would aid coms. Really cant wait to see if this becomes a box set or film. Be like Shaun of the dead but way better. Keep the sick deprived stuff.. make it an 18 please.

I have powered through all of these books to Day 23, mainly because of their unputdownability (not sure if that is a real word but...whatever!). I only gave five stars because there weren't ten to choose from!

This is a fantastic series, well thought out and so much more than dead man walking bites more people etc, etc, etc.

The character base is exceptionally strong and relate-able. If Cookey's asides don't have you giggling you are clinically dead.

There is apparently some interest for a movie - I hope it will be a long series of, the story is simply too good to be compressed into two hours. However, I have no suggestions for anyone to play Dave...

Whether or not the 'Zombie' ("don't use that word" - Clarence) genre is one of your favourite, read these books - I guarantee you will enjoy them.

Book twenty something.

Hi, people on Amazon that read book reviews.

Firstly I know what your thinking. It's a book about the fort and Lilly.

I thought the same thing for the first 2 chapters and although this book hardly even mentioned me Howie and his team I have to admit this book was as good if not better than the previous books in the series.

Sure it's not quite as action-packed as the previous book you can ask yourself what could be better than a gunfight in a warehouse while high on cocaine?

I'll tell you.

The answer is running a fort and dealing with the daily administration of keeping several hundred people alive and safe.

You weren't expecting that... But really read and enjoy. It's a great addition to the series and a book I haven't put down in 5 hours.

This author, the story, the characters getting better & better!

5 stars as these characters are just so real, therefore it feels like your there!
You snigger at the banter, roll your eyes, smile with tears, scream at the tele-book equivalent! You're there with them all, which is what you want from a book.
I didn't even mind this one didn't include Howie's team in this book.

Ps. Am not unaware of a few editing blips and imperfections, but as a reader, the story hasn't gripped me as much since the wheel of time

You've gone and done it now...

5 stars!
I should give it 1 star because I'm not going to be able to read anything else now, it just won't gel. You've ruined me!

Now, I'll move on and tell you my review.

I love this series! Its brilliant. It made me laugh out loud to the point my husband was looking at me as though I have issues (might be right, who knows) it made me sad. It made me reflective of life and daily situations.

And now I'm not going to be able to get into another series, because I want more of this.

That's all.

The saga continues and the nail-biting action is non-stop. Haywood’s writing is so well done, it is hard to put the book down to do simple things like ‘eat’, ‘sleep....The action is non-stop, edge of the seat drama. His characters are so well-developed , you can see them in your minds-eye, as they jump off the pages. Read the book, start the series. One of the best.

The Undead Day Twenty Four: Equilibrium
The Undead #24
Sci-Fi
R.R. Haywood
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

This book returned back to Howie and his team. It was nice to read his POV again.

Finally, some things about Howie and Dave were revealed, including Dave's connection to Howies dad. I'm glad because I was beginning to feel like I was left in the dark.

I really liked finding out how some of the characters had connections to each other without even realising it.

The Infection can affect people in different ways and another strain started to have it's own sentience and goals separate to the original Infection. I have a feeling that's going to make things a lot more difficult, especially with finding the cure.

Carmen's character really grew on me. I hope she chooses Howie and his team when the time comes.

The ending was very good and it made me want to read the next book immediately.

Go Lilly

This book was based on the fort getting settled and trying to build a new society from the ashes. Lilly may only be 16, but smart, wise, and she knows what she wants. Of course some humans are their own worst enemy and bring bigotry and hate to the table. The growing pains of the fort are shared in this story. Lily is a force to he realigned with and Cassie may not realize she is dealing with a mind shrewder than her own. I did miss Howie and the crew and hope the next book is not a huge wait. I enjoyed this book, it shows Lilly's true strength as a leader and that she will play a major part in the battles to come.

What can I say that hasn't already been said about this series . A brilliant read that you don't want to put down, it grips you right from the first page. This book Day 23 will make you feel for the regular characters and new ones that come in. Other characters you will wonder why they are behaving like they are and feel anger at how they are behaving. You'll also wish you could tell the main characters what is happening that they aren't aware of, but obviously your not able to. If you haven't started reading this series of The Undead then you really need to. I highly recommend them and I can't wait to find out what happens in The Undead Day 24 which I've just started reading.

Ooh errr

So, a few pages in and I thought "oh no, it's all about the fort" what about the other characters? What about the infected? So many questions!
However I am so pleased to say that I soon forgot these little queries and was soon caught up with events. You know its a good thing when you detest a character to the point of wishing them the worst.
Good job Mr Haywood, showing the readers a different view and not relying purely on the main gang. This book leaves plenty of space for the plot to thicken and I can't wait for that

As ever absolutely bloody brilliant

Wow wow wow - I am just hooked on this fantastically written series. Mr Haywood you just 'get' people. I've never in any books I have read (I am 53 and have read thousands) really felt the characters, laughed out loud, cried, cringed, howled and read parts again just because they are so fantastically written. I love the typos, they are your trademark, as is your unrivalled talent to bring laughter in such dark times. Please please keep writing, the Undead series is just fabulous - thank you xxx

Okay

This part was just okay. I felt that Lilly didn't need a whole book and that she was kind of bashing the others for leaving. They've been doing that from the beginning. Then she shows how young she is when she doesn't get her way. She could've done more in protecting the fort and making sure everybody had a job . I'm a fan of Howie and his team so I'd rather hear about them but now we know what's been happening while they're away. Plus we know a little more about the characters from the agency through Kyle.

Awesome

Read this in one sitting. Gripping, the tension builds throughout the whole book, to a climax that I had to keep re_reading back over, as I was reading that fast I was missing parts of the action. Another excellent book in the Undead series. I have loved every day of this series, it makes me laugh, cry and my heart pound with the sheer excitement of the story lines. Now waiting for the next instalment.

I love this series!

This is a great adventure series about what happens to normal people at the end of the world as they have known it. The characters are funny and tragic and very human. There are zombies and bad guys and hero's and heroines and all of the elements that make a great story. I have read every one of these books and usually I read one book per sitting because I can't put them down. RR Haywood has done a wonderful job.😀

Bloody good read!

Unputdownable! I’ve been so lucky to not have ready this series until this year. To have 23 books (&2) to binge read has made a the first few months of this year a real treat :) I referred them to my brother who has just finished the first week, reading one book per day! He’ll be busy for the next few weeks... Be like he & I, and spot a good thing when you see it - read book one and get hooked!

Fabulous As Always

Okay, this author is beyond compare, I mean his characters are so thoroughly fleshed out that you cannot help but think of them as people you know and care about. I've so enjoyed this series and the imaginative rollercoaster story of their journeys and can only hope that this series NEVER ends. Truly, as I may fall into a deep depression should that happen. Thank you RR Haywood, for countless hours of entertainment, I look forward to more.

Absolutely brilliant

Amazing as always, sadly seems to end too soon! Great to get back to.the fort and the much loved characters. Great plot as per, and some fabulously emotional scenes. Yes I may have cried towards the end. Feels as if we are getting more facts but Mr Haywood still liked to leave us hanging. A must read for any zombie fan

Fantastic read, continuing on perfectly from Day 22.

5 stars all day long for this book, the 23rd in the series of The Undead. This series is like no other apocalypse/zombie you will read. Every emotion is captured perfectly, you are drawn to every character and the humour has you literally laughing out loud. I can't wait for Day 24, incredible work again boss!

Day Twenty Three: The Fort — totally immersed, angry and fighting

Events take a bit of a tangent in this instalment - no spoilers - but ghosts of society raise up and threaten the existence of Lilly’s fort - a slower read for me - but still got through at a blistering rate because I needed to know what next.
Thankyou RR Haywood ... another winner!!!

Exceptional

Another cracking instalments of the Undead series. I literally can’t get enough of these book or indeed anything that RR Haywood writes.
The way he builds the characters and infuses such humour into the narrative is nothing short of genius. Whenever I finish one of his books I’m left wanting more and longing for what comes next.
Keep it up Mr Haywood!!

Another amazing installation in The Undead series

I’m in love with this series. The books cannot come out quick enough. I read 23 in less than a day and was sad when it ended.
The books are all fast paced, full of action, loads of emotion, and above all else just hilarious. I challenge anyone to read the first book and then not go straight into the next !

The Fort

R R Haywood is the only author in recent years that can give you characters that are so real they could be your friends or nemesis. This does not disappoint. The Author known as the boss to his many fans has pulled out all the stops in his latest ride into the world of the undead.

LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!!!!

I nearly lost it when I saw there was a new instalment! Mr Haywood should be chained to his desk and only be allowed food and exercise when he finishes ten chapters!! Cannot wait to find out what Howie has been up to next (but please let Lilly be okay with him)!!!

Another great book in the series.

When I first learned of this series, there were already many books available. I read through them all too quickly, at about 2 a week. I'd been waiting for this one for so long and now I'm disappointed that I'm done after only three days! I hope that the next one comes out very soon.

Worthy undead saga

Having binge read all the previous novels, I was excited to see a new one. I kept an eye out for the continuation of the story so well written I couldn't stop reading. The Fort does not disappoint. I loved hearing about Lilly and her troubles. Great adventure, fascinating developments, great characters. Enjoy!
