One of the most extraordinary things about life is how chance encounters lead to unimaginable adventures. Not so many years back I was introduced to the most amazing of authors, Vicki Vass, through my friend Lisa Kelley. I devoured books that Vicki wrote like potato chips and came to have admire and be inspired by her writing. I reached out to her through social media and an amazing thing happened. Somehow, the books I had come to love, I ended up a character in. This is one of the coolest thing ...more

Wow! I could not put this book down.
I was captivated from the get go.
I thoroughly enjoyed the first book and this was even better.
The characters and continuing adventure were well written and took me on a journey and adventure that I was thrilled to indulge in.
I look forward to reading the next in the series.

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

Just as adorable and captivating as book one! I am enjoying reading from the viewpoint of a cat even if she is supposed to be human. It makes for a unique perspective. Add in New witches of all ages and skills plus the dark magic haunting them causing murders to get a wonderful cozy. The mix of all the cultures is another bonus that makes this great for all sorts of fans. I totally loved it I give it 5/5

A magical tale from beginning to end, author Vicki Vass has once again enchanted me with her masterful storytelling.

DARK CORNER is the second installment in the unique, Witch Cat Mysteries. Told from the perspective of the protagonist, a witch turned cat who escaped the Salem witch trials, each page of this book will draw you in with clever writing, eclectic characters, and a story that will awaken your imagination.

Author Vass made it impossible for me to put this book down until I had read th

Terra Rowan is the last witch of Salem. When the infamous witch trials began, Terra's mentor, Elizabeth gave her a potion that transformed her from her human form to the form of a cat. Terra has spent the years roaming the country until she settled in Asheville, North Carolina. In the present day she has established a Wiccan coven and befriended the descendant of Elizabeth, in hopes that the spell can be found that will return her to her human form. When she formed the coven, Terra also opened t ...more

This series is a fantastic combination of historical facts, fantasy and paranormal. I love the characters. Starting with the Salem witch trials to give a back story to Terra Rowan, a former witch turned into a cat by her witch sister to save her from being hanged was taken in by Agatha Hollows in the mountains of North Carolina, who was eventually chased out and killed by the Witch Hunters. Terra can communicate with other witches and Wiccans and she now resides with Mrs. Twigg and young Abigail ...more

Witches and fairies and demons, oh my!

This is Dark Corner, book 2 of A Witch Cat Mystery series, written by Vicki Vass. It’s a fun little book steeped in paranormal with witches and fairies and more. It’s a great book and you will absolutely love Pixel, the sweet cat always with something to say.

You will see a lot of reviews for this book beginning with WOW. That is how you feel when you have turned the last page. This is one of those rare books that has the ability to interweave fiction, fantasy and fact, both historical and present day.
Terra is a witch, turned into a cat to save her from the Salem Witch Trials hundreds of years ago.
She is now charged with mentoring a group of elderly Wiccan women as well as training the great granddaughter of her own mentor, a young witch who will gr

kindle unlimited, like the other tho was bit confusing with back and forth timeline, etcera, this one after such a long period of time and refusing to reread the previous one but remember 'enough' about it, only made me wish had NOT given it such high rating as the second one was flatter than a car run over by a monster truck then sent through a crusher. Also read a different series and it was horrible, so just giving up trying to find anything readable from this line of books.

Great witch mystery

In this book 2 of the witch cat mystery, Terra who is a witch in the form of a cat, is busy training Abigail to be the head witch or leader of the coven of wiccans. Strange forces of evil keep trying to upset the coven, separate and kill them but their powers together seem to allow them to continue with their good work to protect the town. Missing the ninth Wiccan to close the circle and allow the coven more power, they meet Charlotte who is the great niece of their deceased f

Although this is the second book in the series, it can easily be read as a stand-alone novel as I did. I seem to be on a roll recently reading about women who have been transformed into cats and can't break the spell, for whatever reason (see my reviews of the Caitlyn series if interested). This one, however, is a lot less gory and intense than the Caitlyn series, which is a welcome change right now.

All of the characters are well-written, and the story will keep you reading to find out what is g

Battle of Magic

WOW! Powerful ending to a fast-paced tale where not everyone or thing is as it seems and ancient beings from many different belief systems unite. Clearly meant as a continuation of Book 1, this tale is nonetheless self-contained and gives you a complete and satisfying story. But a Book 3 is planned and Book 1 does provide a fuller background as well as fleshing out details one must take for granted by the second phase of the story. If you enjoy history and fantasy, this will be e

Terra, Pixel and Abigail have to go the one place where they can hopefully save mankind.....The Dark Corner. It is the only way to stop the Witch Hunters who have come to the Appalachian Mountains in search of the last witch of Salem. This book has a lot of different cultures, Appalachian folklore, Celtic legends, and Native American mysticism.

Great addition to this series. Like the first book, I couldn't put it down. The narration coming from a cat is different, even if she is a witch. The society members are quite interesting and I like how Vicki ties together history, mysticism, and modern life together.

Now we just have to be patient and wait for book 3 to visit our new friends from this series. Highly recommend.
