As soon as I finished book 1 (Mardan’s Mark), I immediately started reading this book, and read the whole thing in one sitting because I couldn’t stop. I finished it the same day as the first, and ended up staying up until midnight to do so, and I have zero regrets! (Okay. I have one. Which is that I don’t have the next book yet and I got smacked with a delicious cliffhanger! Aahh!)

This one is much shorter than the first one, but so, SO good!

You're not going to want to miss book two in the epic fantasy series, MARDAN'S MARK! Mardan's Heir picks up where Mardan's Mark left off and continues this exciting journey. I was so excited to reunite with these characters, and really enjoyed reading this book!

Aldan and Srilani have returned from their harrowing adventure and now have to take on royalty, naysayers, and hidden enemies. Aldan must convince people of his true identity, and Sirlani struggles to get her family to believe where her h

I received an advanced copy of this book prior to release for the purpose of reviewing. All thoughts expressed are my own.

I have been waiting SO LONG for the sequel to Mardan’s Mark and I am so thankful that the wait is finally over! I was so excited and blessed to be on the author’s team of early readers again.  Our story picks up right where we left our characters, at the tail end of the journey back to the northern kingdom. Aldan hopes not only to gain support from King Terson in taking back

This is the second book of the series and I did not read the first one. The retinue is returning home from the Cauldron Fortress that guards the border. The prince and the three princesses were abducted from their home while they walked on the beach while being guarded by the Palace guards.
When they managed to escape, it was with Aldan and his two brothers and the four royals. The First Princess was a fighter. While returning to their home a missive was bought by two messengers. Some very dear f

Marden’s Heir continues the story where they left off in Marden’s Mark. The royal children are rescued and return home. Their tale reads more like a historical romance than a fantasy as the focus was on the politics involved in the royal children’s return and Alden’s desire to claim his rightful place on the throne with the primary focus on Srilani and Alden’s relationship. Like Srilani, I found her return to the castle confining after her adventures. Though it did make the moments with Alden sw ...more

A Satisfying Sequel

I thoroughly enjoyed Marden’s Mark as well the two companion novellas, The Pirate’s Wager and The Healer’s Curse.
Marden’s Heir was a tight read that was well-paced and added some great political intrigue.
The characters in this series are a diverse cast with interesting personalities, no flat, cliched characters here; Srilani and Aldan are a strong protagonists and their siblings, Srilani’s biological siblings and Aldan’s “brothers” are fun characters. They remind me of a litt

This novella is the exciting entr'acte between Mardan's Mark and the upcoming Mardan's Annointed. If you missed Mardan's Mark and the companion novella in the series, Healer's Curse, then you're depriving yourself of an excellent adventure.

Start with Mardan's Mark. You won't be disappointed. With authors like Kathrese McKee, I'm learning to love YA adventure. What a rush!

I got to read Marden's Heir in advance of publication.

A great continuation of the adventure!

This book takes a little bit to get going, but once it does, it takes off! I was so worried for all the characters, and that ending! Eep! I need the next book!

This book is everything adventurous fantasy should be. If you are looking for adventure, you'll definitely want to pick up this series!
