Fantastic read that is full of holiday charm as we learn about new friends, new life, new love and most of all new hope. When a plane full of people is diverted to a small town by inclement weather, the entire population of Bethlehem, Co opens their hearts and homes to them. Ally believed the weather forecast that assured her the eastern seaboard would be spared. Stupid Ally. When her flight home is delayed due to a snowstorm, she resigns herself to being stuck and accepts the Midwestern hospitality offered her. What she didn't expect was to meet Jake, owner of the local diner, nor for the chemistry that flares between them.

But she's a big city girl and he's a small town boy. What does that mean for the rapidly growing feelings they're experiencing, the knowledge t
This is a delightful festive romance set mainly in Bethlehem, Colorado. It begins with Ally Henderson flying to New York where she is to marry her business partner fiancé in a few days time. Inclement weather forces the plane to land in the small airport near Bethlehem. The people of the equally small town rally round to provide accommodation for their unexpected guests. Ally ends up going with her fellow passenger, the very pregnant Noel, to stay with Peggy. Peggy's son, Jake Nelson, takes the ...more

So, I was really enjoying the first half of this book. I was enjoying all of the characters, though Jake (the main character’s love interest) seemed a bit generic to me, mainly because we never got a description of what he looked like, which is annoying. The plot and small town atmosphere reminded me of a cute Hallmark movie, which I generally enjoy.

But, the second half of this novel really started to frustrate me. For one thing, it took wayyyyyy too long for the main characters t

Quite a pleasant and charming surprise...not having read anything by this author before now, I didn’t know what to expect, but I’ve been blown away by just how enraptured I was by the story and its characters. The town’s Christmas symbolisms were not without notice, they were so effortlessly laced throughout the story that they enhanced the overall feel and sentiment.

The characters were original and had diverse and unique personalities...the dialog was superb, quickly capturing my imagination a

THE CHRISTMAS LAYOVER by Robert Tate Miller is a sweet Christmas story. A plane full of people flying home for the holidays is diverted due to bad weather to a small town. The passengers stay in various private homes of the residents. A relationship develops between the passengers, crew and the townspeople. The town itself is totally into Christmas with various Christmas activities. One of the passengers headed to her wedding and the owner of the cafe in town have a connection. There's a lot of ...more

"Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the advance copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review."

Loved this book very much. It had just enough sweet romance and the storyline was great! I highly recommend!

This was a sweet, super festive Christmas story. That I got completely lost in for a couple of hours and even though it was a little predictable I still really enjoyed reading it. And can easily see myself rereading it around Christmas time for many years to come.

when Ally Henderson finds herself in the small town of Bethlehem after her flight to New York is diverted due to bad weather, she's determined to make the most of it. However, it's not that easy, especially when she's so far away from her real life and then her fiancée turns her life upside down. Will Jake be able to help Ally forget her problems or will they lose their shot at happy ever after because Ally is a city girl while Jake will always be a small town guy?

A nice little Holiday read and I loved the premise of this story! Fantastic!
When a winter storm grounds a plane full of people heading to NY for the holidays it's forced to land in the middle of nowhere, a town called Bethlehem. Yep! It's Christmas. Seat mates Noel, who is very pregnant and next to her Ally, who is flying to NY to get married. Ally's concerned she hasn't heard from her fiancé, now stranded adds to the stress. This little town comes through by housing the entire plane full of peo

The Christmas Layover marks my first time reading Robert Tate Miller. In another writing life, Robert was a screenwriter for several Hallmark movies. Thus, I had really high expectations for The Christmas Layover. Sadly, the book didn’t meet those expectations. That isn’t to say the story wasn’t enjoyable and good, because it was. It just didn’t wow and move me like I wanted.

It’s December 20th and Ally Henderson is flying from LA to New York for her Christmas wedding. Everything is going accordi

Read the full review on my blog:

Ally Henderson’s Christmas is planned to start off perfect. Along with her fiancé Tim, she is scheduled to fly to New York for her wedding and then continue on to a tropical island for the honeymoon. What happens is quite the opposite after a huge winter storm slams the east coast and leaves the plane, passengers, and crew diverted in a small town called Bethlehem somewhere in northwest Colorado.

This book had mild cursing (but no f-bombs) and no on page sex.

I really wanted to like this story, and parts of it were good, but I really, really didn't like Ally. Her inner thoughts were offensive and beyond obnoxious (she magically can judge – and self-righteously find lacking - the political leanings of an entire town just by being in it for 3 minutes!) for so much of the book that by the time she started to have her “epiphany” that I just didn't care. She literally judged Jake fo

Ally is on her way to NYC to have the wedding of her dreams when a snowstorm derails her plans and becomes the start to lot of revealed bad news. While the plane is grounded in a small town Bethlehem the passengers have to wait for the news to get back on track they will stay with host families. She didn't expect to like the town, make new friends and maybe even fall in love in this small town but the storm will pass and she will eventually have to go back to where she came from.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

This was just so adorable. I totally loved the premise of this story. The back of the book told of a city that opened it's residents' homes to a flight that was diverted during 9/11. I guess I really never stopped to think about situations where planes are diverted to small towns happening. In this story it was due to a snow storm though. I just loved the Christmas themed second chance romance. Both Jak

I really enjoyed this one so much. I will admit I was cringing along with Ally with everything thrown her way. I felt so bad for her, but she took a horrible situation and made the best of it. Everything she went through may be an unexpected blessing. I want visit Bethlehem at Christmas time. It sounds so magical especially around the holidays. Reading how that town welcomed the stranded travelers will warm your heart. It's the true meaning of the holiday season! I swooned many a time w

I love holiday reads and this one was no exception. The Christmas Layover by Robert Tate Miller hits you with all the good feels. Right from the start I was giggling at how the flight started out with Ally and Noel and hoe Noel wore poor Ally down to the point she was spilling her fears and thoughts to. When the plane dot diverted and landed in the middle of nowhere I was quite drawn to the town and its people especially Peggy and of course Jake (Swoon). I just love the warmth and love that this ...more

When life knocks you down you can always choose to pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and move on to bigger and better things. This is how Ally and Jake chose to make their life worthwhile. This is a sweet, and very romantic seasonal Christmas story. It is a wholesome story of family, friendship and community. Forgiving yourself is the hardest thing before you can move on. Jake and Ally had to learn to deal with all the tings they thought they had failed at first. With the love of a warm and w ...more

The Christmas Layover is a heartwarming story that takes place around the holidays in a little town called - yup - Bethlehem. I loved the style of writing and the setting. The story begins when a plane full of passengers has to land in a small town due to a blizzard. Ally, about to get married, and Noel, 8 months pregnant, get to stay with Peggy. She's the mother of a very attractive and sweet diner owner.

If you like a light story, a dash of romance and a Christmas setting, this is the perfect b

A charming Christmas tale of love after loss. Ally's plane to her wedding destination is diverted due to weather. When she comes across information that could shatter her entire world, she must decide how to proceed. Jake runs the diner in town and has a heart-breaking past.
I admit, I wanted to slap Ally quite a bit in the beginning of the book, as she came across ungrateful. Watching the two characters try to overcome their obstacles in life, whether it be current or past, was uplifting and tru
Eek!!... Such a let down. I had no sympathy (or patience) whatsoever with the condescending (or over the top) characters and just couldn’t make myself to finish reading and forced to stop by 43%. >__<

This was a cute Christmas story about loss but finding happiness again. I love the city girl coming to the small town element and discovering how wonderful a small town can be. I'm from a small town and the sense of love in the community is so spot on! The main characters were great and I really enjoyed this one! It's like a hallmark Christmas movie!

This is such a feel good Christmas story! I really enjoyed getting to know these characters and falling in love with them and the Midwestern town of Bethlehem. This story flows really well and I did not feel that there were any lulls in the story at all. I couldn't put this one down once I started it. I wanted to know how things were going to end for these poor stranded passengers!
