Jozef Simkovic
2 books13 followersJOZEF SIMKOVIC came to the United States in 1987 as a refugee from Czechoslovakia which was still governed by the communist regime at that time. After settling in the United States with his family, he spent most of his time in the country working as a radio journalist for the Slovak Service of The Voice of America. Later after the Slovak Service was closed, he continued work as a broadcasting engineer for VOA. In 2003, he was awarded the VOA Gold Medal for bringing the news to his native country of Slovakia in a meaningful way and entertaining fashion.
He considered his work for VOA to be his life mission, but later during his engineer years, he discovered his even more important destiny while taking part in numerous meditation programs at the famous Monroe Institute in Virginia. His extensive diary from these programs and other countless meditations became the foundation for his book.
Before coming to the United States, Jozef Simkovic completed the study of radio and TV broadcasting technology at the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava and a postgraduate study of computer programming at the Czech Technical University in Prague. He worked as Deputy Chief in the Computer Center of the Slovak Broadcasting Technology and Operations Company.
Jozef Simkovic was the middle weight karate champion of Czechoslovakia in 1976. He plays competitive table tennis in the United States for many years.
He considered his work for VOA to be his life mission, but later during his engineer years, he discovered his even more important destiny while taking part in numerous meditation programs at the famous Monroe Institute in Virginia. His extensive diary from these programs and other countless meditations became the foundation for his book.

A beautiful book I read after delving into Robert Monroe’s trilogy. I enjoyed the author’s easygoing and approachable attitude towards complex new age topics that most authors would be afraid to express. The book became a little more difficult the further I progressed as his spiritual journey took him to greater and greater heights, and after a certain point I felt “left behind” as his use of terminology and his experiences became more advanced. I believe anyone familiar with the Monroe Institute and its myriad of programs would have an easier time digesting this book as it is chock full of references that the average layman may have difficulty comprehending. There is, however, a glossary of terms that I failed to notice until after my reading that may come in handy to anyone interested. Also, Jozef Simkovic has such a fun-loving, adventurous personality that I felt personally compelled to finish reading this book regardless of the several others I had started prior to this one.

Simkovic's other worldly experiences as he searches for answers to our oft asked questions about the mysteries of the universe are amazing. This is one of the best books I have read recently about the souls mission on earth and beyond, the depth and breadth of the universe, and our responsibility for the planet.

A Spiritual Journey
Mr. Simkovic gives us a deep and personal look into his spiritual journey. The intention of this brave book is to enlightenment and encourage everyone to begin or continue their own spiritual adventure. After reading the book I have a refreshed dedication to my spiritual growth.

As a former student of psychology at the University of Bucharest and as one who frequently steps into lucid dreams, I was more than intrigued by the premise presented in the Publisher’s Summary for How to Kiss the Universe by Jozef Simkovic.
How to Kiss the Universe is, in my humble opinion, a thought provoking book that everyone of us should give a chance as it tackles and tries to find answers for some of the most fundamental questions that define human curiosity and our origin.
All the events portrayed in How to Kiss the Universe are well documented and explained in a beautiful, accessible and easy to understand way by Mr. Simkovic. The book is split into explanatory named chapters, each of them opening with a suitable quote from a well renowned writer, philosopher, musician or other persons that have inspired the author. I especially loved this, as it is a clear example of how involved Mr. Simkovic was in delivering his utmost best to make sure that the listener learns even more interesting things from his work.
In short, How to Kiss the Universe documents the experiences the author lived at the Monroe Institute and other spiritual retreats. The author takes us as witnesses to his extraordinary journey in his search for the unseen, for that essence that cannot be understood or touched. As such, during this trek to the stars, we will make the acquaintance of some utterly unique beings, as perceived by Mr. Simkovic’s conscience.
I listened with complete fascination and was instantly immersed into this true story, written like a fiction book, so that everyone who picks it up will find it easy to be entertained by it.
The audiobook version of How to Kiss the Universe is expertly and enthusiastically narrated by former Voice of America star John Steele. He delivers an excellent performance, speaking clearly, infusing the audio production with emotion, humor and talent. I consider him to be the perfect choice for this story filled with extraordinary events.
In conclusion, I am glad that I picked up How to Kiss the Universe. With the author’s superb writing style and with such a great narration by this talented voiceover artist, my listening experience was completely immersive and I can say without a doubt that I learned some truly interesting things from this book!

Very interesting!
Very interesting and detailed digest of Jozef's experiences. I read Robert Monroe's books many years ago, but after read this book, I am more curious than ever about the spiritual experiences that The Monroe Institute (TMI) can foster. This book is well written and is a joy to read!
